Speaker A:

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, we learn about the Winchester stages of grief.

Speaker B:

Bite.

Speaker A:

Bargain.

Speaker B:

Bargain with a soul.

Speaker A:

Resurrect.

Speaker B:

Lie.

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker B:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm Diana.

Speaker A:

And I'm Liz.

Speaker B:

And we're going to talk about season 11, episode 17, red meat.

Speaker A:

We sure are.

Speaker B:

Ah, but, but first, what have you been up to, Liz?

Speaker A:

Oh, you know, just hanging out in the desert.

Speaker A:

That's really nice.

Speaker A:

There's no people in the desert, especially if you go like far enough out in it.

Speaker A:

Then there's like a few people, but then you get to go away for them.

Speaker A:

And I saw like desert dogs and a desert coyote and desert lizards, because I was out by Joshua Tree in California, which is.

Speaker A:

Will come up later on.

Speaker A:

But if you haven't been to.

Speaker A:

I didn't actually go inside.

Speaker A:

Well, actually, I did go inside Joshua Tree because there may be a dispensary that's right inside the Josh, like right next to the casino.

Speaker A:

That's right inside Joshua Tree.

Speaker A:

Funny.

Speaker A:

Which I'm just like.

Speaker A:

I think it's hilarious too.

Speaker A:

Like, so you go get high and then go to the casino, but you can't.

Speaker A:

You're not supposed to consume there.

Speaker A:

So I don't know.

Speaker A:

Anyways, so I did not go to the desert to go to go to the dispensary.

Speaker A:

I went to the desert to go do aerialist shit and go do fire stuff.

Speaker A:

And so I, I fire ate.

Speaker A:

I transferred fire on my tongue.

Speaker A:

I, I transferred to fire with my hands.

Speaker A:

I. I breathed it.

Speaker A:

I did all sorts of stuff with fire.

Speaker A:

I danced around with it on a sword, danced with it in the box, stamped with it with a fox.

Speaker A:

No, it didn't, didn't quite go that far.

Speaker A:

But so, yeah, I had, I had a good time.

Speaker B:

Go full Dr. Seuss with it.

Speaker A:

I did not go full Dr. Seuss with It.

Speaker A:

But it seems like a lot of people, if you've never been to any place that's got like that specific of desert community, desert, desert land.

Speaker A:

It's very similar also kind of to that part of Oregon that I was at earlier in the summer.

Speaker A:

Because it's desert people, right?

Speaker A:

And desert people, they, they like art, then, like caravan.

Speaker A:

So there's art tours going on and there is over like a hundred different places.

Speaker A:

Up, up and down the highway where I was at, where you go look at various art at people's houses.

Speaker A:

And so like, sometimes the people's house was the art, sometimes it was like, art in their yard.

Speaker A:

It just, you know, there's, like, the rate.

Speaker A:

There's, like, one house, this is a giant rainbow, and they have rainbows everywhere.

Speaker A:

There's all sorts of.

Speaker A:

There's all sorts of things out there.

Speaker A:

Because desert people are weird.

Speaker A:

Weird.

Speaker A:

But I like it.

Speaker A:

I'm not saying that in a spiritual way.

Speaker A:

I like weird.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And I got my cards read, this really cool, like, botanical place, and she.

Speaker A:

She snorted, I guess.

Speaker A:

Snorted.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

She blew snuff up my nose before we.

Speaker A:

Before we read my cards.

Speaker A:

That was a first.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So up your nose?

Speaker A:

Yeah, so we had a pendulum that chose, like, someone else.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And then, like, they put the tobacco or the snuff into, like, the little pipe thing and then she, like, blew it up each of my nostrils, which.

Speaker A:

That wakes your ass up.

Speaker B:

It's like.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Snorting a cigarette.

Speaker B:

I've done, like, the sniffing.

Speaker B:

Sniffing snuff.

Speaker B:

I don't know what else you call it.

Speaker B:

Nasal snuff.

Speaker B:

Because, like, they start calling these different things snuff later.

Speaker B:

So I've done that before and that'll.

Speaker A:

Whoo.

Speaker B:

Wake you up.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So it was like.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I've never had.

Speaker A:

I've never had that happen before either.

Speaker A:

So that was.

Speaker A:

That was a fun way to.

Speaker A:

Fun.

Speaker A:

Interesting thing to do before you get your cards read.

Speaker A:

And then her husband does these infinity boxes, which are just really fun art projects.

Speaker A:

Like, and he has, like, he.

Speaker A:

There's like, two rooms full of them, and it's one of those things, like, man, you know, like, nobody comes and looks at these boxes.

Speaker A:

Someone should.

Speaker A:

They're really cool, though.

Speaker A:

Like.

Speaker A:

And they would make a really good Instagram picture.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, they make, like, people for People who do insta and stuff like that.

Speaker A:

They make really good pictures of that.

Speaker A:

But anyway, so, yeah, I went.

Speaker A:

I went to the desert.

Speaker A:

I. I hung on hoops.

Speaker A:

I hung on chains.

Speaker A:

I played in a big spiral hoop.

Speaker A:

That was fun.

Speaker A:

And, yeah, it was a good time.

Speaker B:

I went to.

Speaker A:

What about you?

Speaker B:

Desert.

Speaker B:

So kind of similar, but not.

Speaker A:

But yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Our bags had the same sort of sand in them.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

No, we did a little getaway to Cabo, so we.

Speaker B:

San Jose del Cabo is where we were technically at.

Speaker B:

But it's my first time down on the Baja Peninsula.

Speaker B:

And it was really fascinating landscape, like seeing, like, cacti on the beach.

Speaker B:

Just kind of an interesting, like.

Speaker B:

I don't know, I just hadn't seen that before.

Speaker B:

I know it's not the only place, but it's just an interesting feature.

Speaker B:

But yeah, it was really interesting landscape.

Speaker B:

Got to see.

Speaker B:

I got to see sea turtles hatch in a nest on the beach.

Speaker B:

I got to see, see sea lions and they're like just chilling.

Speaker B:

Do a little snorkel, a little swim.

Speaker B:

A lot, lot of sitting by the pool.

Speaker B:

A lot of sitting by the beach, reading, relaxing.

Speaker B:

A lot of that.

Speaker B:

A lot of that.

Speaker B:

But they have a really cool like art gallery walk on one night a week down in, in the city and we went to a really cool farm to table place called Flora Farms and had a lovely, lovely, lovely dinner.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I mean, I don't know, it's just a little getaway.

Speaker B:

We're not going to discuss the number of steps that my resort had because it was in insane.

Speaker B:

It's like really pretty, but it was like down.

Speaker A:

You didn't notice that your hotel, your resort was called La Escuela and you just didn't ask.

Speaker A:

You were just like, why is it called this?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

It was lovely.

Speaker B:

It was just.

Speaker B:

It's one of those like.

Speaker B:

And we laughed because we had this, a similar experience accidentally several, several years ago when we went to the Amalfi.

Speaker A:

Coast and it was like, oh, this.

Speaker B:

Is a fuck ton of stairs and this is the only way.

Speaker B:

But yeah, so no, it was, everything was, you know, it was a great getaway for us that we desperately needed and now we're back home with all the doggos.

Speaker A:

Then you get that message from Apple, like your, your daily activity has changed and it thinks that you like climb steps all the time.

Speaker A:

And then it has to be like, oh, no, that was.

Speaker A:

That's not something you're doing all the time.

Speaker A:

That was just a daily thing.

Speaker B:

My knee doctor probably won't be thrilled, let's just say.

Speaker B:

But it is what it is.

Speaker A:

But yeah, talk about knees.

Speaker B:

No, we are, we're all settled back at home and getting back to life, I guess.

Speaker B:

Cool.

Speaker A:

So speaking of getting back to life, we're getting back to life talking about people coming back to life in this episode.

Speaker A:

Oh, look at that.

Speaker A:

That was a massive one.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

Master.

Speaker A:

So this episode, Red Meat.

Speaker A:

And I will tell you, I did see an aerialist perform this week and when we had a.

Speaker A:

We had a boy less performer with two Boylesque.

Speaker A:

But this one fucker's only been doing lira for like a year and he's all like super buff and like it's like 20 times.

Speaker A:

Like, don't compare yourself to other people.

Speaker A:

But I'm sorry, like he can do so Many meat hooks.

Speaker A:

And he's a chef and he is boy less tack is like tag is like patron saint of meat.

Speaker A:

And I said, so a meat hook is a.

Speaker A:

A move in Ariel where you're basically hanging by like one hand and it looks like you're hooking me.

Speaker A:

So you look like a piece of meat that's being hooked.

Speaker A:

So I said he should be the patron Satan.

Speaker A:

Meat hooks.

Speaker A:

But my tagline, just so you guys know, because I did perform, I think you would all be proud.

Speaker A:

My tagline was bringing skanks back.

Speaker A:

Nice.

Speaker A:

So, yeah.

Speaker A:

So red meat.

Speaker A:

This episode 17 was from season 11.

Speaker A:

So we're.

Speaker A:

We're almost done with season 11 where this 17.

Speaker A:

It first aired March 30th.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I know.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

But most will learn we're still not any closer to solving the whole mystery of season 11.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

And this was her first episode.

Speaker A:

Her other credits include things like Mentalist where she was a primary second unit director and she was a co producer on that and of course, bunch of other things.

Speaker A:

This was written by Robert Barons and Andrew Dab Barons we last saw with the Vessel and before that, our little world, both the season and Dab.

Speaker A:

During this season, he did form and void the Devil in the details and beyond the mat.

Speaker A:

Alrighty, so we start off with a very upsetting fight scene.

Speaker A:

And first we see Sam is fighting someone or something.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And then we see that Dean is also fighting someone or something.

Speaker B:

And it's clearly a monster.

Speaker B:

And we're not.

Speaker B:

I couldn't tell exactly what it was at first.

Speaker B:

All we know is some kind of a monster and there's hostages there.

Speaker B:

And then right when our.

Speaker B:

Our Sam and Dean are about to get the upper hand, one of these picks up a gun.

Speaker B:

One of the bad guys picks up a gun off the ground and shoots Sam.

Speaker B:

Sam in the belly.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

So he is gut shot.

Speaker B:

Bad.

Speaker B:

That's bad news.

Speaker B:

Bad news.

Speaker A:

Kill.

Speaker B:

Dean kills the vampire.

Speaker B:

Or.

Speaker B:

Well, the.

Speaker B:

It wasn't a vampire.

Speaker B:

So sorry, bad notes.

Speaker A:

It was a werewolf.

Speaker B:

It's a werewolf.

Speaker B:

Dean kills the werewolf.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And we immediately.

Speaker A:

The title card.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

48 hours earlier.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So now we're back in the bunker.

Speaker A:

And so then we get the.

Speaker A:

Okay, this episode still isn't going to be about Amara, because Dean, they haven't found anything.

Speaker A:

This is how we get set up for that this season.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

All right, we got a case.

Speaker A:

All right, what is it?

Speaker A:

Werewolves.

Speaker A:

Woohoo.

Speaker A:

And oddly Enough.

Speaker A:

We are recording this on a super large full moon.

Speaker A:

I at home last night at 1:30 in the morning.

Speaker A:

And I could see everything in my backyard.

Speaker A:

It was insane.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

So we're all turning into werewolves tonight.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker A:

But these werewolves apparently have been eating hearts because there's five campers that are missing.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And so Dean's a little hesitant.

Speaker B:

Like I don't know if we want to Jack with a case because he's sad about Cass.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, we'll get him back, but let's go to this case instead.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And indeed, I mean, Sam is like really clocking that this is like what is going on with him.

Speaker A:

But then we shift forward in time from there because this is.

Speaker A:

We do his episode a lot.

Speaker A:

And so we shift forward in time to Sam bleeding out while a chick is non consensually hanging from something.

Speaker A:

And then there's also a dude there.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

There's a couple that are obviously like the hostages to the werewolves.

Speaker B:

And Dean is getting the first aid kit to get the bullet it out of Sam.

Speaker B:

And he shoves a wad of gauze in Sam's mouth because this is going to hurt.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker B:

And he goes to start digging around and he does get it, but he's going to keep it as a memento.

Speaker B:

Looks very painful and very.

Speaker B:

It doesn't very.

Speaker A:

It's a very unpleasant field surgery.

Speaker A:

And Dean then finds the keys for the girls that are hanging.

Speaker A:

And he is like, I think what did this was werewolves.

Speaker A:

And she's like, but it wasn't a full moon.

Speaker B:

And she.

Speaker B:

Her wrists are like.

Speaker B:

She is out of it.

Speaker B:

And she is like.

Speaker B:

Her wrists are like.

Speaker B:

The skin's gone.

Speaker B:

They are infected as hell.

Speaker B:

It is not great.

Speaker B:

And it's her.

Speaker A:

So he puts some Neosporin on them.

Speaker B:

And he's like, oh, they must be full bloods if they can turn on.

Speaker B:

Not a full.

Speaker A:

No, pure bloods.

Speaker A:

Not full bloods.

Speaker A:

He uses the masquerade, the much grosser term of pure blood.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Sorry.

Speaker B:

I just didn't want to write it.

Speaker B:

I knew I should.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Probably it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So of course they're in this cabin that has no landline and no cell service.

Speaker B:

Because that's convenient here.

Speaker B:

Because that's the one's like.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, well, I've got to go get service and call for help.

Speaker B:

Y' all just stay here and.

Speaker B:

And Sam.

Speaker B:

Y' all just stay here.

Speaker B:

I'll be back.

Speaker B:

And they're like talking about this.

Speaker B:

These two campers that are the Missing campers.

Speaker B:

They're on their hitchhiking honeymoon through national parks.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So this dude, and this is the first sign that this dude is a douchebag.

Speaker A:

He is trying to comfort her by being like, but, honey, this is like, you know what we're doing?

Speaker A:

This is our honeymoon.

Speaker A:

We're hitchhiking through the national parks.

Speaker A:

That was just like, you cheap bastard.

Speaker A:

Like, you couldn't even, like, rent a car for this.

Speaker A:

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Speaker A:

So we're gonna talk about some other.

Speaker B:

Airbnb, somewhere nice in the woods or.

Speaker A:

This is pre Airbnb, so I don't think you could do that, but you at least get a campsite, right?

Speaker A:

And I mean, or something.

Speaker A:

Something that's slightly nicer than just taking your new bride hitchhiking through just trying to murder.

Speaker A:

Get your wife murdered like that, you know?

Speaker A:

So this is.

Speaker A:

We're going to talk about a very specific national park, and we're going to talk about jt, AKA Joshua Tree, because that's where I just was.

Speaker A:

And we're going to talk about things from their incident report.

Speaker A:

highlights going back to the:

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

1987.

Speaker A:

And this was an attack on a Park Service installation.

Speaker A:

Location, park headquarters.

Speaker A:

California Highway Patrol officers tried to stop an International scout heading toward the Marine base at 23 Palms for traffic infractions.

Speaker A:

Driver LM turned toward the park headquarters with police pursuing.

Speaker A:

He lit a flare one mile from the IIQ and another near the building, both placed under the scout's front seat.

Speaker A:

The vehicle crashed through the cactus garden wall in front of the visitor center.

Speaker A:

He then fired four to five rounds from a weapon.

Speaker A:

Then both the vehicle and he ignited.

Speaker A:

He fled, but was still charred from the waist up and was put into a burn center.

Speaker A:

Was not expected to.

Speaker A:

Expected to live.

Speaker A:

Spoiler alert.

Speaker A:

He does not.

Speaker A:

The vehicle contained five, ten gallon containers of butane, two tanks of acel acetylene, ten one quart containers of butane.

Speaker A:

Again, I'm repeating that one, but they, they, they repeated that, not me.

Speaker A:

50 gallons of gas and two.

Speaker A:

I guess maybe it was a different size container.

Speaker A:

All right, so he had gallons of butane, then he had quarts of butane, then he had 50 gallons of gas.

Speaker A:

This is like so much two and a, and two and a half and five gallon containers.

Speaker A:

And he had hundreds of books of matches and then a whole bunch of flares.

Speaker A:

Then they found a bunch of weapons in the in the vehicle.

Speaker A:

And they revealed the fire was a planned human incendiary attack on a government inst.

Speaker A:

With park buildings.

Speaker A:

Likely a second attack after 29 palms was unregional.

Speaker A:

I said 23 palms earlier.

Speaker A:

I think that's supposed to be 29 palms.

Speaker A:

So afterwards they learned that the LM.

Speaker A:

I'm just using his initials, that's what they used.

Speaker A:

He was arrested for assaulting a ranger there some time ago and had filed an unsuccessful tort claim against the park which had claimed that the.

Speaker A:

He claimed the arrest was illegal.

Speaker A:

He had reportedly had a lot of hatred for the park Service and for the irs and had recently lost his house to the latter for non payment of taxes.

Speaker A:

He is said to have been a great admirer of the monkey wrench approach into an approach to environmental radicalism.

Speaker A:

One of the tenets of that is that a person who believes in monkey wrenching is for some reason disposed to commit suicide, should at the same time destroy something man made, such as a dam or a power plant, which is perceived to be environmentally evil, intrusive.

Speaker A:

It has determined, been determined, that the visitor center and the headquarters of the park were LM's target, not the marine base.

Speaker A:

He made several attempts to ignite the flam flammables in his vehicle before succeeding, then shot himself with a derringer.

Speaker A:

Derringer.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And he was wounded and burned over 44.

Speaker A:

44% of his.

Speaker A:

Yeah, he burned over 44% of his body.

Speaker A:

vehicle had the equivalent of:

Speaker A:

And it only failed to explode because the cans containing the materials vented as they were supposed to.

Speaker A:

So when they were exposed to extreme heat, they didn't blow up, but properly stored.

Speaker A:

Yeah, the cans did their job.

Speaker A:

So that's the only thing that kept that from going great.

Speaker A:

So wild.

Speaker A:

So that happened in:

Speaker A:

This was the follow up to the Harmonic Convergence.

Speaker A:

Okay, so this happened before you were even born in 87, I guess.

Speaker B:

Yeah, you were.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so I was 10.

Speaker A:

So this was when all these people around the world decided that they were going to meditate at the same time and that was going to stop the world from ending.

Speaker A:

And I forget what it was also supposed to do.

Speaker A:

I think it was supposed to bring aliens.

Speaker A:

Maybe that's responsible for what the is happening now.

Speaker A:

Who knows?

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So Joshua Tree had extraordinary crowds.

Speaker A:

They had a total of 2,384 visitors that were counted through the one manned entrance station, with many more arriving in other roads.

Speaker A:

But that, no thank you, sir.

Speaker A:

I do not want to be stuck behind 2,000 people.

Speaker A:

So they basically reported New York grid like all of the camping sites were filled and there was all over.

Speaker A:

But the only problems he encountered some minor first aid from heat exhaustion.

Speaker A:

And then I think some people may have died from doing some rock climbing stuff.

Speaker A:

All right,:

Speaker A:

So this was, there was a lot of drug things in these reports and I, I didn't say them all.

Speaker A:

This one though I thought was a good one because also the place it happened was called Deception Canyon.

Speaker A:

So in Deception Canyon, a metropolitan water district employee discovered what has since been identified, an abandoned PCP laboratory.

Speaker A:

Rangers found six empty five gallon plastic trash cans with PCP residue, miscellaneous glassware, 12 empty Drano cans, two pairs of rubber gloves and two pairs of white trousers.

Speaker A:

The lab appeared to have been there for about two months.

Speaker A:

The road leading to the site is a dirt road and is open to the public.

Speaker A:

The U.S. coast Guard National Response center was notified and the materials have been removed by a toxic toxic spill contractor.

Speaker A:

There are no suspects.

Speaker A:

Investigation continues.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure if they solved that or not, but.

Speaker B:

Hilarious.

Speaker A:

Two months, at least two months at PCP lab was just.

Speaker A:

We're just like people just making PCP in the desert.

Speaker B:

All right, that's a drug you don't hear about people making often.

Speaker B:

So that's moderately impressive.

Speaker A:

Back in the 80s there was quite a few PCP reports in here.

Speaker A:

So I think it was something you dealt with a lot more.

Speaker A:

I also feel like it was something way more California weekend.

Speaker A:

, let's go to:

Speaker A:

And this was.

Speaker A:

They had a weekend where they had to put several incidents into one report.

Speaker A:

And we have a couple of these.

Speaker A:

I just like this means like they had.

Speaker A:

The rangers had a weekend.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

All right, so over the course of this weekend in April on the 22nd, a 37 year old man who suffered from, who suffers from cerebral palsy abandoned his horse when it became bulky and refused to continue.

Speaker A:

So they ended up, he was suffering from dehydration and some other stuff and basically he was like you, I'm not getting back on this horse.

Speaker A:

And they had to come get him.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

I've thought about doing that on some rides before.

Speaker A:

I just like that's some balls to do.

Speaker A:

All right, so also the same weekend a 21 year old resident was bitten by a rattlesnake then.

Speaker A:

This is very sad, but okay, it's very sad.

Speaker A:

I'm just going to preface it with That a female juvenile found a live military anti intrusion grenade, pulled the pin and detonated the device.

Speaker A:

She was engulfed in flame and phosphorus which was extinguished by her mother who transported the child to a medical facility.

Speaker A:

The child's grandmother, who was also at the scene of the incident, fell and dislocated her hip and fractured a femur.

Speaker A:

A search of the area was corrected.

Speaker A:

No further ordinance was found.

Speaker A:

The search however.

Speaker A:

The searching for that however led to the following.

Speaker A:

Rangers discovered the 19th clandestine drug lab along the park's boundaries over the past three years.

Speaker A:

The lab was found in Long Canyon just 100 yards outside the boundary.

Speaker A:

Discarded chemical containers and numerous empty M16AK47.9 millimeter and 45 caliber shell casings were found at the site.

Speaker A:

Riverside county sheriff's sheriffs are.

Speaker A:

Deputies are investigating and a hazardous material disposal unit cleaned the area of toxic materials.

Speaker B:

That's insane.

Speaker B:

It's insane because you know how pissed she was, the kid and her mother.

Speaker B:

I mean she was very worried about both them also.

Speaker A:

But like.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but now she's got like a kid, like a mom with a broken hip.

Speaker A:

A kid that's like found the grenade.

Speaker B:

Like, are you like, you like this woman needs a martini.

Speaker A:

And also those poor park rangers like, you know, just like, they're like what?

Speaker A:

Like no.

Speaker B:

Oh God.

Speaker A:

You're just like.

Speaker A:

Can we just pretend you didn't find it?

Speaker B:

You know, can we just find this next week?

Speaker B:

Yeah, okay.

Speaker A:

So another one that was like that.

Speaker A:

This was in March of:

Speaker A:

Four persons were.

Speaker A:

This was the last week of February.

Speaker A:

Four persons were arrested and charged with burning six picnic tables.

Speaker A:

Two persons were arrested and charged with collecting 66 cactus plants.

Speaker A:

A hazardous materials team was called in to remove three barrels of toxic materials which were dumped in the campground by unknown persons.

Speaker A:

A county hostage negotiating team was called in to assist in the removal of a person under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms and lsd.

Speaker A:

The man was screaming for park rangers to shoot him and was successfully talked into surrendering after two hours.

Speaker A:

This was the second incident of this type to occur within a two week period.

Speaker A:

Then a successful five hour long search was was conducted for a drunk college student who became lost on a fraternity outfitting.

Speaker A:

Six marines were arrested for being under influence of alcohol, drunk in public and attempting to assault a 4 foot 8 inch tall female with a burning stick.

Speaker A:

The fuck Marines.

Speaker A:

And then also that weekend a person was arrested for drug use.

Speaker A:

The 97 such arrests made this year in the.

Speaker A:

This was just in the Indian Cove campground, not even in the park.

Speaker A:

3-3-1 campground.

Speaker A:

97 arrests for drug use.

Speaker B:

Wild.

Speaker A:

Oh, the 90s.

Speaker B:

That's one a day.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Okay, so this one, and I hate to say this is one of my favorites because it's really sad.

Speaker A:

So again, we're prefacing with this is really Sad.

Speaker A:

This happened April 1st.

Speaker A:

This is not a fool's day.

Speaker A:

st,:

Speaker A:

Follow up on Homicide.

Speaker A:

th,:

Speaker A:

Several months of investigation ensued which revealed that would happen to her.

Speaker A:

In early:

Speaker A:

They arrived in the Palm Springs area in October and checked into a hotel.

Speaker A:

The pair then played several rounds of golf with a local pro.

Speaker A:

HB apparently strangled BH sometime thereafter and buried her in the park around October 11th.

Speaker A:

HB then checked into a new hotel in the Palm Springs area and played several more rounds of golf with the pro, telling him that BH had been hit by stray golf balls and didn't want to play anymore.

Speaker A:

In early December, HB's body was found in an overdue car rent rental car near Mesa, Arizona.

Speaker A:

He died of a self inflicted gunshot wound from a shotgun he purchased from a friend of the golf pro.

Speaker A:

None of the stolen money yet has been discovered.

Speaker A:

What so and so their names were helmet.

Speaker A:

The guy who died, this was his name.

Speaker A:

Helmut Bitterman, of course.

Speaker A:

And then her name was Bridget House Leitner.

Speaker A:

So they stole 3.8 million German marks from company Riverside County.

Speaker A:

He strangled her.

Speaker A:

He was found dead from that gunshot wound with a pair of her panties in his pocket.

Speaker A:

He also turned in her golf clubs for new ones.

Speaker A:

He remember he's Garrett here in the golf bag.

Speaker A:

So he's exchanged those golf clubs, clubs.

Speaker A:

What a douche.

Speaker A:

All right, so then like.

Speaker A:

So there's another one.

Speaker A:

I want to finish.

Speaker A:

I want to finish one.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

There is somebody trying to sell cats because they, they kept like they had bobcats and I forgot three leopards, two servals, tens of thousands of suspected marijuana seeds and seedlings, cocaine, a pistol photo showing marijuana cultivation and other large cats on the property including lions, tigers, cougars and ocelots.

Speaker A:

And I'm sure what they were doing on jt, but okay, okay.

Speaker A:

Oh, this one, this is like so July.

Speaker A:

This is so:

Speaker A:

have happened since the year:

Speaker A:

Go figure.

Speaker A:

So I forgot about this one.

Speaker A:

Four hikers were attacked by a swarm of bees on Sunday, June 25th at the.

Speaker A:

At the Negropolis formation, about 4 miles park of the.

Speaker A:

The park's west entrance.

Speaker A:

Each was stung repeatedly, with one victim receiving over a hundred stings and breaking his leg while fleeing the attack.

Speaker A:

The bees have since been positively identified as Africanized honeybees.

Speaker A:

Dun, dun, dun.

Speaker A:

Did you remember those?

Speaker A:

I forgot about those.

Speaker A:

So the area adjacent to the attack.

Speaker B:

I didn't know I'd forgotten because, well, we moved on to murder hornets.

Speaker B:

So I missed it.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we went on from those.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so they couldn't find the hive.

Speaker A:

Like they never found it.

Speaker A:

So like these bees were just running around and just like stinging people and then moving on.

Speaker A:

Like I forgot about them.

Speaker A:

Okay, last.

Speaker A:

story took place in April of:

Speaker A:

Conviction for arson, vandalism of natural resources.

Speaker A:

There was no arson conviction.

Speaker A:

That's a little wrong.

Speaker A:

Misleading.

Speaker A:

But they started off their report saying Joshua Tree has historically been a popular gathering spot for outdoor enthusiasts during the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

Speaker A:

During the:

Speaker A:

While patrolling the Hidden Valley campground after dark on New Year's Eve, rangers Tim Bertrand and Scott Fisher saw two people in a rock formation above the campground.

Speaker A:

After hearing the distinctive sound of a tin white gas container hitting the rock, they observed a large fire erupt on the face of the formation.

Speaker A:

When they identified themselves to the pair, both fled from the area.

Speaker A:

The rangers apprehended them as they climbed back down the.

Speaker A:

Down the back of the formation.

Speaker A:

Because you've got to get down the rock somehow.

Speaker A:

So where the hell did you think you were going?

Speaker A:

Because they were rock climbers.

Speaker A:

All right, so both were cited for arson with mandatory demandatory court appearances stipulated.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

Later on, the rangers were patrolling the campground.

Speaker A:

They came across a site with a large fire and several people talking loudly.

Speaker A:

They recognized JT And EW from earlier.

Speaker A:

JT Made several statements indicating that he had no remorse or understanding of what he had done.

Speaker A:

He has stated several times they plan on doing the same thing next year.

Speaker A:

And he would light several other fires.

Speaker A:

JT Also said that as the editor, he was not supposed to do things like this.

Speaker A:

Several days later, the ranger discovered that JT Was a senior editor for Climbing magazine, one of the two top two publications on rock climbing.

Speaker A:

So on April 4, JT&EW appeared in federal court.

Speaker A:

They appeared separately in front of the magistrate, and EW Each pled guilty.

Speaker A:

JT showed no report remorse and did not apologize for his actions to the court.

Speaker A:

He was cited for a class B misdemeanor, also called a petty offense of lighted or smoldering material discarded in a manner to create a public safety hazard.

Speaker A:

He was sentenced to five years unsupervised probation, banned from entering the park for five years and ordered to pay $1,000 fine.

Speaker A:

GT does equal Jonathan Fasinga, if I can say his name.

Speaker A:

And so he.

Speaker A:

The court also required him to provide copies of the rangers report and the court proceedings to his employer and the magazine's owner, the Prime Media Corporation.

Speaker A:

EW.

Speaker A:

Edith Wharton Horton, I think is her name.

Speaker A:

She showed remorse and apologized to the court and to the park staff present for her actions.

Speaker A:

She was sentenced to a $500 fine and three years of unsupervised probation and banned from entering the park for a period of three years.

Speaker A:

So yeah, the editor of ROC Climbing magazine was like setting fires in the park and being like, I'll do it again.

Speaker A:

Craziness.

Speaker B:

That's insane.

Speaker B:

For real.

Speaker A:

That's insane.

Speaker A:

So those are just some of the highlights.

Speaker A:

And this is what I imagine that as Sam is looking for cases, that's what he's looking for.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

He's looking through the NPS reports and reading about the PCP labs and like, so this would be like five campers have disappeared with their heart parts missing.

Speaker A:

All right, so back to.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so back to that park.

Speaker B:

She.

Speaker A:

Michelle, I don't know if we know her name yet, but her name is Michelle.

Speaker A:

And she asked Corbin if he is okay.

Speaker A:

And he is like, oh, yeah, I just have a couple of scratches.

Speaker A:

I'm fine.

Speaker A:

And Dean's like, okay, you guys stay here because I don't want to deal with your asses.

Speaker A:

And I'm faster if I run by myself.

Speaker A:

But they're like, no.

Speaker B:

Oh, there are others.

Speaker B:

What?

Speaker B:

There's others.

Speaker B:

There are more werewolves.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So this all seems very scary.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Because Sam is on the ground bleeding, so he has to get his happy ass up.

Speaker B:

And they all walk out of the cabin.

Speaker B:

And now we get a flashback.

Speaker A:

And we get a flashback.

Speaker A:

So we're going back and forth in time and now we go back to.

Speaker A:

To this bartender lady and Sam and Dean are dressed like feds.

Speaker A:

But we don't get to find out what feds they are.

Speaker B:

We don't.

Speaker B:

And Rose is our bartender's name and she's looking at these pictures of these campers and like, oh, no, they're not familiar to me at all.

Speaker B:

Oh, just.

Speaker B:

I Just see so many people, and I'm getting old.

Speaker B:

But there's these cabins way out there that maybe they just found and crashed out in.

Speaker A:

And they're easement cabins.

Speaker A:

And that's a really boring inner real estate term, so don't bother looking it up.

Speaker A:

And so they're the easement cabins in the park.

Speaker A:

And so they're like, okay, can you show us on a map where we should go?

Speaker A:

And she's so helpful, and she points out exactly where they need to go on this map.

Speaker A:

So nice of them.

Speaker B:

So helpful.

Speaker B:

So we cut back to the woods where our Michelle and Corbin and Sam and Dean are stumbling, running along, and they are desperately trying to find a cell sign signal before Sam falls out.

Speaker B:

And they find, like, a outpost.

Speaker B:

I don't know what to call it.

Speaker A:

It's like a ranger cabin or.

Speaker B:

Yeah, ranger station or something.

Speaker B:

But it's a ranger station.

Speaker A:

Sounds good.

Speaker B:

That has no power, no phones, and.

Speaker B:

But a couple of lanterns.

Speaker B:

That's what it's got.

Speaker A:

That's helpful.

Speaker A:

At least they got some lanterns and some matches, too.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And so Corbin is once again starting to show how swell of a man he is.

Speaker A:

And he just was like, you know what?

Speaker A:

Sam's gonna die.

Speaker A:

Let's le.

Speaker A:

Get out of here.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he's gonna slow us down.

Speaker B:

And Sam.

Speaker B:

And we're like, what the.

Speaker B:

And Dean's face is like, what the.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, he's right.

Speaker B:

I'm a martyr.

Speaker B:

Leave me.

Speaker B:

But Dean's like, nope, I'm gonna go build a litter.

Speaker B:

And we're going to drag him.

Speaker A:

We're gonna carry this giant behemoth of a man for a couple of miles.

Speaker A:

And everyone's like, you.

Speaker A:

Nobody wants to carry this man.

Speaker A:

So well.

Speaker A:

Well, yeah.

Speaker B:

This is where we discover that Rose is not just a bartender who knows her way around the woods because her and a wolfie dude are in a truck going to the wolf murder cabin and discussing that they.

Speaker B:

All the wolves there that died this up because she set them up for a meal on a platter with these campers there.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And once again, we're getting this.

Speaker A:

This mean, authoritarian werewolf leader.

Speaker A:

And, like, we give this.

Speaker A:

Sometimes we have this with the vampire leader with the hippie chick, right?

Speaker A:

Where they're just really mean to their minions.

Speaker A:

And they really are like, I don't.

Speaker A:

Why are you so mean to this man?

Speaker A:

Like, it's just rude.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

So she basically orders him to clean everything up, and then she's just gonna go sit in the truck.

Speaker B:

I mean.

Speaker B:

I mean, that Part's kind of boss like, okay, I kind of like that.

Speaker A:

I would like to do that.

Speaker A:

But I would never do that because it's mean.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So Rose is a me mean werewolf lady.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

All right, so we go back to our other cabin and I don't know what my notes mean here.

Speaker A:

It just says Dean's building.

Speaker A:

And I don't say Dean is fighting sticks.

Speaker B:

Building a litter.

Speaker B:

Yes, pretty much.

Speaker A:

Okay, all right.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker B:

That tracks.

Speaker B:

And inside the cabin, Sam is telling Michelle and Corbin that they need to find Dean because all just need to go and leave him there.

Speaker B:

And they're like, no, Dean's not going to leave Sam because the.

Speaker B:

And so because Corbin's like, yeah, Dean, there's no way that guy's going to leave him.

Speaker B:

So he is going to suffocate Sam.

Speaker B:

Corbin's going to suffocate Sam.

Speaker B:

That's his plan?

Speaker B:

Kill him.

Speaker B:

It's also like really not a great method or plan here, but this is what he's doing.

Speaker B:

He thinks that somehow he's over chest.

Speaker B:

Well, Sam's also out of blood.

Speaker A:

But he also shows how weak Sam is.

Speaker A:

I mean, I can't imagine any like anybody, even Corbin, his size is not that big.

Speaker A:

So anyhow, so somehow like that's happening.

Speaker A:

Dean sees the truck lights and Sam's just like, oh, dude, you got a werewolf bite.

Speaker A:

What are you trying to like.

Speaker A:

Because his mouth is covered with Corbin's hand.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And then Corbin squeezed his nostrils shut, like pinches his nose and it's not funny.

Speaker B:

It's funny.

Speaker B:

And Sam fully passes out, potentially dead.

Speaker A:

He looks like he's dead.

Speaker B:

He looks like he's dead.

Speaker B:

Michelle walks over and sees Corbin check for his pulse and says that he's dead.

Speaker B:

Dean comes in, sees Sam on the floor, asks what happened.

Speaker B:

Goes and checks, sees that Sam is dead.

Speaker B:

So everybody thinks Sam is dead.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And the girl Michelle kind of, I think has an inkling that.

Speaker A:

Wait a minute.

Speaker B:

What the.

Speaker A:

This is like I walked away and then he died.

Speaker A:

This is a little weird.

Speaker A:

And Dean's just doing his.

Speaker A:

The Winchester death stages of grief.

Speaker A:

So the first stage of Winchester grief is I want to fight something.

Speaker A:

So a vehicle is coming and Dean just wants to fight them.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

And it is pointed out that if they do that, they are all going to die.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

So Michelle's crying, Corbin, Dean's tearing up.

Speaker B:

Corbin's like, look, we've gotta to get.

Speaker B:

We've gotta help ourselves.

Speaker B:

We gotta help get out of here.

Speaker B:

So Dean promises Sam's corpse that he'll be back.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's upsetting.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then we get a past flashback to them looking at map.

Speaker A:

Those maps, trying to find the easement cabins and Sam saying that this could be like camping and could be fun, which is again, this episode is one of those reasons why you should never go camping.

Speaker A:

It does not look fun.

Speaker A:

Doesn't look fun.

Speaker A:

No, it didn't.

Speaker B:

I'm not.

Speaker B:

Well, we're not.

Speaker B:

We're not campers, so that's fine.

Speaker A:

We're glampers and that's fine.

Speaker B:

Yes, of course.

Speaker A:

I like the outdoors.

Speaker A:

I just don't want to, you know.

Speaker B:

Die in a tent or be uncomfortable.

Speaker A:

Or be uncomfortable.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Speaker A:

All right, so we're going to go from there to sad time.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And Michelle is like, hey, Corbin.

Speaker A:

Sup?

Speaker B:

What happened?

Speaker B:

And Corbin's like, I saved us.

Speaker B:

I did, but I had to.

Speaker B:

But he can't look at her.

Speaker A:

Ew.

Speaker B:

Because her.

Speaker A:

Yeah, can't lose her.

Speaker B:

And they magically arrive at a road.

Speaker B:

Like, it looks like a rest stop.

Speaker A:

Almost in a national park.

Speaker B:

And there's this is.

Speaker A:

They're not in, like, you know, in national parks can be.

Speaker A:

Obviously, you know, we went through the reports.

Speaker A:

There are lots of, you know, places that are very off the grid, but eventually you do get to a road that leads to people.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker B:

It just seemed.

Speaker B:

It just was like, surprisingly a sheriff.

Speaker A:

Who'S not a werewolf.

Speaker B:

Weird, right?

Speaker B:

And the sheriff's like.

Speaker B:

He's like.

Speaker B:

Dean's like, take them for help.

Speaker B:

I need to go back.

Speaker B:

And the sheriff's like, no, no, no, wait.

Speaker B:

What's up?

Speaker B:

What's happening here?

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, no, I'm going back.

Speaker B:

And the sheriff's like, the.

Speaker A:

You are.

Speaker B:

And tases it.

Speaker A:

Him after Dean ducks him.

Speaker A:

Like, Dean hits him.

Speaker A:

And then he, like, he salts.

Speaker A:

He salts the sheriff.

Speaker A:

And the sheriff is like, no, you get taste.

Speaker B:

You get taste.

Speaker B:

Which is very reasonable in this situation.

Speaker B:

You see, you've got like, these people that are dying coming out of the woods, and this one guy being like, take them by and try to run off.

Speaker B:

And then he punches the sheriff in the face.

Speaker B:

Sheriff's gonna tase you.

Speaker A:

Probably.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But we all know it's not the first time Dean's been tased, and he probably has done it for fun.

Speaker A:

So he.

Speaker A:

He does.

Speaker A:

He wakes up in a hospital and finds out that he's got broken ribs and probably a concussion.

Speaker B:

This is a very industrial.

Speaker B:

Institutional and industrial looking Urgent care clinic.

Speaker B:

It's kind of weird.

Speaker A:

This is a very hospital urgent care.

Speaker B:

Yes, but it's also, like, cinder block and gray.

Speaker B:

Kind of prisony for it.

Speaker B:

For a hospital or an urgent care.

Speaker B:

I was like, oh, this is depressing as hell.

Speaker A:

Rural urgent cares are pretty sad.

Speaker A:

They're pretty.

Speaker A:

They're not great.

Speaker A:

Haven't been just the ones in the country after ranch accidents.

Speaker B:

They're okay.

Speaker A:

Yeah, they're not.

Speaker A:

They're not pretty places.

Speaker A:

Sometimes they're just trailers anyhow, so.

Speaker A:

But in this whatever urgent care that they're in.

Speaker A:

Dean's hurt.

Speaker A:

And then Corbin is telling the sheriff his version of what happened.

Speaker A:

And Michelle's like, I know what happened.

Speaker A:

They were werewolves.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Because he's like, oh, yeah, Dean's brother died and we ran, but the bad guys are still out there.

Speaker B:

She's like, they're monsters.

Speaker B:

They're werewolves.

Speaker B:

And Corbin's like, I don't know.

Speaker B:

That's what that guy said.

Speaker B:

Who knows what that guy's talking about?

Speaker B:

And Michelle's like, that guy.

Speaker B:

That guy saved us.

Speaker B:

And his brother did, too, bro.

Speaker B:

Like, she's calling Corbin out.

Speaker B:

And the sheriff's like, okay, Corbin's clearly the only sane one here, so I need to talk to him.

Speaker B:

And he's.

Speaker B:

But he' going to go have rangers check out that cabin and the station to see if anybody's there.

Speaker B:

And Corbin's like, okay, Michelle, chill the out.

Speaker B:

We made it out.

Speaker B:

That's all that matters.

Speaker B:

We're okay.

Speaker B:

And the doctor's like, does not not.

Speaker A:

Look happy about this.

Speaker B:

Absolutely not.

Speaker B:

And the doctor's like, okay, well, both of y' all shut the up.

Speaker B:

Because she's stable.

Speaker B:

So now it's time to check out you, bro, because Corbin, you clearly have some injuries.

Speaker B:

Let's see what's going on.

Speaker B:

And he's trying to, like, avoid it, but eventually agrees to it.

Speaker B:

She pulls up his sleeve, and what does she see?

Speaker B:

Not a scratch.

Speaker A:

But the vampire.

Speaker B:

Vampire.

Speaker B:

I said the wrong thing again.

Speaker B:

Werewolf bite.

Speaker A:

It is a werewolf bite, not a vampire.

Speaker A:

And he's like, how do I feel?

Speaker A:

And he's like, good.

Speaker A:

And that's not good.

Speaker B:

That's creepy.

Speaker B:

So we see our sheriff is trying to call a ranger to go check on things.

Speaker B:

And then we see a shot of a.

Speaker B:

A very bloody, dead ranger in his truck.

Speaker B:

But over in his bed, Dean sits up and Michelle has shuffled in and says she wanted to see how he was and tell him she's sorry he saved their lives.

Speaker A:

But she.

Speaker B:

But you should remember that their mom used to say that death is not the end.

Speaker A:

The next stage of the Winchester grief cycle.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

The next cycle.

Speaker B:

Step in that cycle.

Speaker B:

Which is targeting.

Speaker B:

Yes, for sure.

Speaker B:

So we got fighting and bargaining.

Speaker B:

We're on to now.

Speaker B:

And he is digging through medical storage because he needs to talk to a scary, crazy death machine.

Speaker A:

What he gonna do?

Speaker A:

But while he tries to do that, we get a cut to the cabin and.

Speaker A:

Oh, Sam's not dead.

Speaker B:

Not dead.

Speaker B:

Not dead.

Speaker B:

So he's.

Speaker B:

So we know as the viewer that Sam is alive and that Dean is about to try to do something stupid to do with death.

Speaker B:

And we quickly realize that he is going to slam a bunch of pills with a Pedialyte.

Speaker B:

That's just funny.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry.

Speaker B:

Like, that was somebody's Saturday night.

Speaker B:

Also not for.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that was a good time for someone.

Speaker B:

Someone.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Like.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker B:

So he's doing that and he's like, by the way, Michelle, get the doctor.

Speaker B:

And once I go out, get the doctor to bring me back.

Speaker B:

No hard feelings if I don't make it.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So she's just going along.

Speaker B:

But she's.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but she's like.

Speaker B:

She's like looking at him.

Speaker B:

He's a little crazy, but she's like, okay, I guess.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

She's just doing this, which is weird.

Speaker B:

And she's just like rolling her little ivy around, which I assume is full of antibiotics for those poor, poor wrists.

Speaker A:

Hope so.

Speaker A:

I hope so.

Speaker A:

Indeed.

Speaker A:

So, yeah.

Speaker A:

So Dean downs a bunch of pills and then we can go back to the cabin.

Speaker A:

And Sam's got what I'm assuming is a clotting pad, which they're not carrying clot with them.

Speaker A:

I don't know what they're doing.

Speaker A:

They're neat.

Speaker A:

Once again, we need to talk about the medical kits that you're keeping in trunk and on yourself.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

But there's some sort of gauze there and.

Speaker A:

But he wakes up and realizes that.

Speaker B:

He'S not alone because the truck has pulled up and our bartender, Rose and big wolf dude is there walking up front row building.

Speaker B:

So Michelle wants to know how Dean feels.

Speaker B:

Dean is clearly up and then he collapses.

Speaker B:

And as he collapses, we see in the cabin, Sam has fallen down station.

Speaker B:

Sam has fallen down the basement stairs because he's trying to get out of view of the werewolves.

Speaker B:

And Michelle is running to get the doctor.

Speaker B:

And Sam is bleeding a lot, basically.

Speaker A:

Trying to hold in his guts.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Ew.

Speaker B:

That sounds painful.

Speaker A:

It does.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker A:

But he's probably in a lot of shock.

Speaker A:

Don't worry.

Speaker A:

About that.

Speaker A:

He's running on pure adrenaline.

Speaker A:

Sam's just fine.

Speaker B:

He probably can't feel it.

Speaker B:

You're right.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

So back in the hospital, though, Dean is not fine.

Speaker A:

And the doctor runs in, is like, we need some naloxone.

Speaker B:

Dean is foaming at the mouth and convulsing at this point.

Speaker B:

And we get a nice cut to Corbin in the bathroom with his shirt off, looking at himself and watching his wounds heal as his eyes go real wolfy.

Speaker B:

And he grows claws, shaking.

Speaker A:

And some dudes you just know are going to be douchier when they get to be monsters.

Speaker A:

And you're just like, oh, like you're not.

Speaker A:

You're not going to be a good monster.

Speaker A:

You're not going to be like.

Speaker A:

Like a Garth werewolf.

Speaker A:

You're gonna be an werewolf.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

For real.

Speaker B:

Speaking of werewolves, back at the station, Sam is stumbling around this basement kind of loudly while they are inside the building.

Speaker B:

I'm very concerned about it, but bouncer.

Speaker A:

Also kicks the door in.

Speaker A:

And I'm pretty sure that wasn't locked.

Speaker A:

Like, you could have just opened that door.

Speaker B:

People just.

Speaker A:

They didn't lock the door when they left.

Speaker A:

I'm surprised they shut it.

Speaker B:

That is just some, like, showy effort.

Speaker B:

Is that just some, like, douchebaggery?

Speaker A:

Like, what?

Speaker A:

So he.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but of course, he's also a wolf.

Speaker A:

So he smells Sam's bleeding guts.

Speaker B:

Bleeding guts.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

So in the.

Speaker B:

At the urgent care, Dean is outside of his body watching the doctor and now the sheriff and Michelle all over him, trying to keep him from dying and.

Speaker B:

Or bring him back.

Speaker B:

But he gets a freeze frame and Billy shows up and she wants to.

Speaker A:

Savor this, and she really did not, did not think this was how Dean Winchester was going to go out.

Speaker A:

Out.

Speaker A:

And she did have some top, top five, you know, ideas.

Speaker A:

And one was eating a burger while watching Charles in Charge, which in the original there was a version where that was auto erotic asphyxiation while watching Charles in Charge, which I'm very sad they left out.

Speaker B:

That's funny.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

I. I guess the burger is a little more family friendly.

Speaker B:

Whatever.

Speaker B:

A little more family friendly.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

So, yeah.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker B:

But Dean's like, whatever, I need.

Speaker B:

I need Sam back.

Speaker A:

Back.

Speaker B:

And she's like, back pass.

Speaker B:

Because she's some attitude on her and I like it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

We all love Billy.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

Anyway, so she's like.

Speaker B:

Dean's like, look, the darkness is out there.

Speaker B:

Everything's gonna burn, including you.

Speaker B:

And Sam's the only one who can stop It.

Speaker B:

So you need to bring it back for me.

Speaker B:

And she's like, how is he gonna stop it?

Speaker B:

What the.

Speaker B:

And Dean has no response.

Speaker B:

Wants.

Speaker A:

And can you stop pretending like this is for the greater good?

Speaker A:

You.

Speaker A:

We all know that it's for you, you selfish little prick.

Speaker A:

And Billy just calls him on that.

Speaker A:

And she's like, no, sir.

Speaker A:

You are a martyr.

Speaker A:

And stop it.

Speaker A:

You're just selfish.

Speaker A:

And the answer is no.

Speaker A:

The answer will always be no.

Speaker A:

No more extra lies.

Speaker A:

Say goodbye to Luigi Mario.

Speaker A:

Which I'm just like, yes.

Speaker A:

That is such a good, good line.

Speaker B:

It was so good.

Speaker B:

But he's like.

Speaker B:

Dean's like, well, fine.

Speaker B:

Let's go to the next level.

Speaker B:

Bargaining.

Speaker B:

Bring him back and take me.

Speaker A:

But she's like, no, this is the next stage of grief, which is bargaining.

Speaker A:

Plus, I added my soul.

Speaker B:

And she's like, nope, I'm here to reap you.

Speaker B:

Also, btw, Sam ain't dead, but you will be.

Speaker B:

She didn't really say it like that.

Speaker B:

It just sounded like that.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And she's ready to toss him in the empty.

Speaker B:

And so she holds out her hand because she said, let's go.

Speaker B:

But right then, what does our good old doctor pull out?

Speaker B:

Some big ass needle to shove in Dean's chest and wake him up?

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

So he get Pulp Fiction saved, and he dies.

Speaker A:

And he gets a little, you know, he gets bounce around, um, a thur.

Speaker A:

But no, that doesn't happen.

Speaker A:

Okay, so he gets saved, and we go back to our.

Speaker A:

Our cabin where the bouncer is tracking the blood and tracking Sam.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Not ideal.

Speaker B:

But Sam is able to get the drop on him and stab him.

Speaker B:

So there we go.

Speaker B:

And then Rosa Rose walks down the stairs, and Sam just kills her, too.

Speaker B:

Sam has had an.

Speaker A:

We just.

Speaker A:

We just hear some squishy, like, stab, snap, snap.

Speaker A:

We don't know if.

Speaker A:

Like this, we're assuming she's dead because she doesn't come back out.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So she got saved a death scene, which is.

Speaker A:

Oh, sorry, Rose.

Speaker A:

You could have had that.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

So she's.

Speaker A:

She's dead.

Speaker A:

And now we're going back to our.

Speaker A:

I keep wanting to call it a hospital, even though it's urgent care.

Speaker B:

Close enough.

Speaker B:

And Dean's awake and tells Michelle he's alive.

Speaker B:

And she's like, thank God.

Speaker B:

He's like, not so much.

Speaker A:

We got to get there.

Speaker B:

And the sheriff's like, nope, you're a psycho.

Speaker B:

I'm handcuffing you because you have now a felon.

Speaker B:

Look at all these drugs.

Speaker B:

You just.

Speaker A:

You just ate A bunch of drugs.

Speaker A:

You just broke into a bunch of drugs, ate a bunch of drugs after.

Speaker B:

You assaulted a police officer.

Speaker A:

We don't tend to let those people go.

Speaker B:

No, no.

Speaker B:

You just don't get to go run off.

Speaker B:

And the doctors.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry, you can't just punch a cop and then go into the urgent care and eat a bunch of drugs and then explain, expect to walk out.

Speaker B:

No, that's not a good plan.

Speaker A:

I don't think it's like.

Speaker A:

I don't think that's a plan that ever worked.

Speaker A:

I mean, maybe in like a coming of age movie, but in supernatural real life, unfortunately, this time that won't work.

Speaker A:

And the cop, but at least like the doctor is like, I'm not gonna pop more drugs into him.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

And so he.

Speaker B:

He steps away to go call for backup because he's got to go figure out what the going on.

Speaker A:

All your backups dead?

Speaker B:

They are.

Speaker B:

Which is.

Speaker B:

That's kind of a bummer.

Speaker B:

So Sam has now taken the werewolf truck and is driving to baby where he has picked up his phone and has a.

Speaker B:

And doesn't.

Speaker A:

Maybe some clotting powder.

Speaker A:

Is that in trunk?

Speaker A:

Is that there to put in your guts that are bleeding out?

Speaker A:

Sam, maybe a new band aid dude, something before.

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Pick up his phone and get in the front seat.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Just with your guts hanging out.

Speaker A:

All right, cool, Cool, cool, cool.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker B:

So Dean's able to get out of the urgent care.

Speaker B:

Michelle.

Speaker B:

Because Michelle helped him.

Speaker B:

And Sam calls and Dean's like, what happened?

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

And they're like, oh, I'm at urgent care.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker B:

And then their phones break up and they can't talk to each other.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Fails because.

Speaker B:

And Sam does not get a chance to tell Dean that Corbett was bitten.

Speaker A:

That is only he knows.

Speaker A:

So he is running to get this information.

Speaker A:

You can't text him, so he.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, I know there's no signal, but you could at least like put the text in and then like, you know, maybe.

Speaker A:

Maybe it'll go through.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

You could try that.

Speaker A:

But that's just me.

Speaker A:

Texting was early in this age.

Speaker A:

Sort of.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So he takes off and now we go to the urgent care here where things are happening in Corbin's room.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And our doctor wants to check on him and asks and Are you okay?

Speaker B:

And he is very wolfy.

Speaker B:

Very, very wolfy now.

Speaker B:

And he says that he.

Speaker B:

I really am.

Speaker A:

That's your.

Speaker A:

That's your murder line.

Speaker A:

That's what you choose as your Murder.

Speaker A:

Like, oh, so sad.

Speaker A:

Corbin, you douche.

Speaker A:

And then he kills our doctor, who I really liked.

Speaker A:

And she was.

Speaker A:

She was a good R and P doctor.

Speaker A:

We didn't get your name, but you were a good doctor.

Speaker B:

Dr. Kessler is her name, actually.

Speaker B:

Oh, I have her name.

Speaker B:

Dr. Kessler.

Speaker A:

Dr. Kessler.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

So Michelle hears something happening and runs over and finds the doctor on the floor.

Speaker B:

And she's all concerned.

Speaker B:

And the sheriff runs up, up.

Speaker B:

And they're both standing there, and Corbin puts his hand through the sheriff's chest.

Speaker A:

Just straight through, does.

Speaker A:

So our sheriff, who really was it, just.

Speaker A:

Who was just trying to do his job, just gets.

Speaker A:

Gets his heart ripped out by Corbin the douche.

Speaker A:

The douche monster.

Speaker B:

Douche monster, yes.

Speaker B:

And he's like, oh, I don't want you to be scared, Michelle.

Speaker B:

I don't want you to be scared.

Speaker B:

I didn't want this.

Speaker B:

This.

Speaker B:

But you'll see.

Speaker B:

We'll be together.

Speaker A:

Together forever.

Speaker A:

And she's like, no, I don't.

Speaker A:

I don't want this.

Speaker A:

No, thank you.

Speaker B:

And once you killed the guy that saved us, I was kind of out, bro.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm like, pretty sure.

Speaker A:

Like, I'm pretty sure you killed a man with your hands.

Speaker A:

So we're not.

Speaker B:

We're not in this.

Speaker A:

And then Dean comes in and he tackles Corbin, and Corbin's like, fine, I'm just gonna choke you.

Speaker A:

At least he went to choke him out and didn't rip his heart out.

Speaker B:

That's good.

Speaker B:

But all of a sudden, we hear a gunshot because Sam's there and he shot Corbin.

Speaker B:

Yay.

Speaker A:

And then he collapses.

Speaker B:

Well, yeah, reasonable.

Speaker B:

Well, we cut and to another scene where Michelle looks rightfully traumatized because now she's been through this whole ordeal where she got kidnapped by werewolves.

Speaker B:

Her hands almost got infected.

Speaker A:

First, she had her douchebag of a husband tell her that her hon honeymoon was going to be hitchhiking to national parks.

Speaker B:

That's number one.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker B:

Then they.

Speaker B:

While in those shitty national.

Speaker B:

Not the shitty national parks, while on that shitty honeymoon in the lovely national parks with her douchebag, they get kidnapped by werewolves.

Speaker B:

Where her wrists get so infected her hands are about to fall off and she's, like, out of her mind with infection.

Speaker B:

Then she watches douchebag, essentially watches him murder somebody to try to save themselves.

Speaker B:

And then now he's turned into a wolf and had to be killed in front of her.

Speaker B:

What the.

Speaker B:

After watching some dude take a bunch of pills.

Speaker B:

The guy that saved them trying to kill OD on pills.

Speaker A:

That's a lot to put in a.

Speaker B:

Very short period of time.

Speaker A:

For a short period of time.

Speaker A:

But at least, you know, she's young.

Speaker B:

They'll be fine.

Speaker A:

Maybe she'll be a hunter.

Speaker A:

I, I, maybe that.

Speaker A:

Maybe that'll be it.

Speaker A:

Because.

Speaker A:

But the thing is, is, like, Dean is like.

Speaker A:

Okay, so another doctor has come in and explained that what happened to Sam was that when Corbin choked Sam out, Sam was just mostly dead.

Speaker A:

Not all the way dead, just mostly dead.

Speaker B:

Which just makes me think of Princess Bride.

Speaker B:

It's okay.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

But he's gonna be okay.

Speaker A:

And then.

Speaker A:

Oh, Michelle.

Speaker A:

Sweet, sweet, my Michelle.

Speaker A:

You're gonna just send that douchebag?

Speaker B:

Must be nice.

Speaker B:

And she's like, corbin wasn't a killer.

Speaker B:

He did it for me.

Speaker B:

And he's like, yeah, yeah, but whatever.

Speaker B:

You'll be all right.

Speaker B:

But eventually you'll get back to normal.

Speaker B:

It's like, no, I won't.

Speaker A:

And she's right.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Like, what do you do?

Speaker B:

Like, that's like our life reset moment for real.

Speaker B:

So, yeah, it's gonna be a little.

Speaker A:

And so there is no hunter after hair here.

Speaker A:

Once again, they're just going to ditch Michelle.

Speaker A:

And with.

Speaker A:

And you know, not even with an explanation.

Speaker A:

They're not.

Speaker A:

She's not even getting a monster talk, right?

Speaker A:

As far as we know, that never happened.

Speaker A:

So we don't even know if she really knows that these are werewolves or what happened.

Speaker B:

And I didn't say.

Speaker B:

She said they were werewolves, so she knew they were monsters.

Speaker B:

And Dean mentions at one point there's.

Speaker A:

Other monsters, but they didn't have to talk.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So as far as I know, like, she's just gonna be left with this.

Speaker A:

Like, what?

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

So are there just werewolves?

Speaker A:

Are there other things?

Speaker A:

She's gonna end up at a mental institution with the rest of their people.

Speaker A:

They say saved.

Speaker B:

Yes, yes.

Speaker A:

Hunter aftercare.

Speaker A:

Do it.

Speaker A:

All right, so.

Speaker B:

So Sam and Dean leave.

Speaker B:

And after Sam gets his blood transfusion and Sam asks, or Sam's asking, like, how she.

Speaker B:

How, you know, how is she?

Speaker B:

And he seems like she's drunk.

Speaker B:

She'll be all right.

Speaker B:

And then you just left her?

Speaker A:

You disabanded her?

Speaker B:

It's stupid.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, I've got.

Speaker B:

Sam has stitches, antibiotics, and needs bed rest, so they're gonna.

Speaker B:

They're gonna go take care of that.

Speaker B:

But he asked Dean what he did when he thought Sam was dead.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, I thought about redecorating your room.

Speaker B:

I knew you weren't dead.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So now we have reached the Winchester stage of grief.

Speaker A:

Because now, of course, the other Winchester has been resurrected.

Speaker A:

And now this is a stage of grief where they lie to the other Winchester about what happened when they were in Dead.

Speaker B:

That's what it is.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

That's the stages.

Speaker B:

For real.

Speaker A:

For real.

Speaker A:

Okay, so let's talk about some of our werewolves and Michelle's and doctors and sheriffs.

Speaker A:

Casting couch.

Speaker A:

It's the casting cow.

Speaker A:

Were they on that show that time with that guy?

Speaker A:

La la la la la la la la la la la la.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we will start with Michelle.

Speaker B:

She's played by Erin Wei.

Speaker B:

Actually, a lot of her career was spent as a ballet dancer, but she's been in episodes of Private Practice, Hawaii Five O Grim, Grey's Anatomy, Resolian Isles, Bones, ncisla, and a few episodes of Handmaid's Tales.

Speaker B:

She was also Abby in the in the Collection.

Speaker B:

Corbin was played by Blair Penner.

Speaker B:

He's been in episodes of Izombie, Wayward Pines, the Flash, the Good Doctor and Van Helsing and Ghosts, but and has also done a lot of Hallmark.

Speaker B:

Dr. Kessler was played by Eileen Ped, and she's been in episodes of X Files, Taken, Smallville, True Calling, Arrow, Travelers, Bates Motel, Izombie, and Snowpiercer.

Speaker B:

She was an anesthesiologist in Final Destination 2, a nurse in Freddy vs Jason, and was Gerda in Juneau.

Speaker B:

Sheriff was played by Toby Levins.

Speaker B:

nd was a fighter pilot in the:

Speaker B:

Rose was played by Suki Kaiser.

Speaker B:

Ben.

Speaker B:

She's been in episodes of Medium and Arrow and was Lydia in the 99 Virgin Suicides.

Speaker B:

1999.

Speaker A:

1999.

Speaker B:

No, no, no, no.

Speaker A:

2000 Virgin Suicide.

Speaker B:

I'm giving the.

Speaker B:

I'm giving the year of the release on that one.

Speaker B:

And then our wolf dude, which they called something else, but they didn't really give him a name that just walked around with her a lot.

Speaker B:

Was played by Ryan Jefferson Booth and he's been in episodes of Smallville.

Speaker B:

4400 French Once Upon a Time, Arrow, Flash, Superman and Lois and was a reoccurring character named Dino in Izombie.

Speaker A:

But yeah, they were a fun cast.

Speaker A:

I like liked the the group of people like it for a Monster of the Week Werewolf and also Winchester Die episode like it was still not that it wasn't that much of a bummer, I guess.

Speaker B:

No, no.

Speaker A:

Like, we weren't that sad, but.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Which is a weird.

Speaker B:

Like, at first you're like, what?

Speaker B:

And then you're like, oh, okay.

Speaker B:

No, this is too much.

Speaker B:

It had a lot of movement to that, I guess.

Speaker B:

Why.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That you didn't linger on the SADs.

Speaker B:

You were in the Go, Go, Go.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And although, I mean, this is episode 17 of the season, so y' all are gonna need to talk about.

Speaker A:

You can't just keep, like, pretending she's not there.

Speaker A:

Y' all are gonna have to figure out something to do with the Big Bad.

Speaker B:

We might need to do something with Amara.

Speaker B:

Yeah, we might need to figure out what's going on with Lucifer inside Cass.

Speaker B:

Like, I don't know.

Speaker B:

Those seem like important storyline components right now.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

We may have to figure those things out, so.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Or not.

Speaker A:

I mean, it could just be, like Winchester Aftercare, and we could just walk away.

Speaker B:

This is fine.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker A:

This is fine.

Speaker A:

This is how it ends.

Speaker B:

Bye.

Speaker A:

Okay, well, we could end that way, but we'll end a different way.

Speaker A:

We'll end the way we always end.

Speaker A:

And I'll say, cheers.

Speaker A:

Jerk.

Speaker B:

Cheers.
