Speaker A:

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, it's the return of Naomi and she's got a holy head.

Speaker B:

And it's the return of Rowena with an enthusiastic Bernard.

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker B:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm Diana.

Speaker A:

I'm Liz.

Speaker B:

And we're going to talk about season 13, episode 19.

Speaker B:

Is it funeralia?

Speaker A:

Funeralia?

Speaker A:

It comes from the medieval Latin for funeral rite.

Speaker A:

So Latin, I would say funeralia.

Speaker A:

Sure, sure.

Speaker A:

Why not like a regalia or alia of all the other alias.

Speaker A:

So many alias that I can think of.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Italia.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker A:

Mamma Mia.

Speaker A:

No, that's.

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

Australia.

Speaker B:

Well, on that note, what have you been up to, Liz?

Speaker A:

I got a new kitten and that has been consuming life.

Speaker A:

She is five months going on six months old, and is a little tortie.

Speaker A:

And if you watch on the YouTube, you may be able to see her in the background sleeping in a mushroom like a cute little thing.

Speaker A:

And she may wake up during the middle of this and wreak havoc or.

Speaker A:

And I'm really.

Speaker A:

We'll see if she stays asleep during this whole episode.

Speaker B:

It'll be a surprise for everybody.

Speaker A:

It'll be a surprise for everybody.

Speaker A:

So I have been just living that kitten life, you know, where they like to.

Speaker A:

To jump and to.

Speaker A:

And to climb things and to bat things and to sleep all day so they can run around all night long and really taste the Greebles on the bed.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

That's a really.

Speaker A:

What she's really discovered besides just, you know, the.

Speaker A:

The normal Greebles that hide under the bed that they can jump on is that I've got a weighted blanket.

Speaker A:

So when she puts her foot on the weighted blanket, it goes.

Speaker A:

So she gets to, like, hear the sound going in it.

Speaker A:

So that's been a fun game for her.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, that's just what I've been doing.

Speaker A:

Her name is Ectoplasm because she's ghost goo, apparently.

Speaker B:

So she's very cute.

Speaker A:

Excited.

Speaker B:

So excited.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I. I will.

Speaker A:

I love her if I'm very tired.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Yeah, baby.

Speaker A:

It's also, there's.

Speaker A:

Yeah, there's.

Speaker A:

There's just.

Speaker A:

Also just that stress of like, new, like new animal in house that was used to old animal that didn't do a lot of things.

Speaker A:

And now new animal wants to jump on all the things and break all the things.

Speaker A:

And so I was like, oh, I need to.

Speaker A:

Just figuring out, like, where.

Speaker A:

Where my breakable things are and where they need to be moved.

Speaker A:

She hasn't quite hit the shelves behind me yet.

Speaker A:

We'll see.

Speaker A:

We'll.

Speaker A:

We'll probably.

Speaker B:

Those don't invoke that.

Speaker B:

Don't put that out there.

Speaker B:

Your ideas.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So that's what I've been up to.

Speaker A:

What about you?

Speaker B:

I saw a band from Australia the other day.

Speaker B:

There's my.

Speaker B:

You're welcome.

Speaker B:

There we go.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I saw Emil and the Sniffers and they were really fun.

Speaker B:

And I got to see Hunks and His Punks, which was a fun band, too.

Speaker B:

So, yeah.

Speaker B:

Went to a good show.

Speaker B:

It was.

Speaker B:

I like the band.

Speaker B:

I am.

Speaker B:

I hadn't, like, really followed.

Speaker B:

But I will just tell you, if you get a chance to.

Speaker B:

If you just want to see a really good rock and roll show, even if you're not, like, a massive fan, strong recommend on that.

Speaker B:

On them in general.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, that.

Speaker B:

And then just mostly quiet.

Speaker B:

It was a big.

Speaker B:

It was a very rainy week and weekend, so we.

Speaker B:

It was a very quiet putter around the house.

Speaker B:

And Babe and I finished the Twilight Saga this weekend.

Speaker A:

Very exciting.

Speaker B:

Did he.

Speaker A:

Did he enjoy watching the baby get eaten out of the belly?

Speaker B:

That was the second to last one, but that one.

Speaker B:

So we had a conversation.

Speaker B:

I was like.

Speaker B:

Because I kept telling him.

Speaker B:

I'm like, it's gonna get weirder.

Speaker B:

He's like, this is weird already.

Speaker B:

What are you talking about?

Speaker B:

I'm like, it's going to get weirder, sir.

Speaker B:

Because then we had you get the baby eaten and eaten out, and then you get Jacob imprinting on the baby.

Speaker B:

I mean, I'm not worried about spoilers because Twilight's this old.

Speaker B:

Y' all should have watched it by now.

Speaker B:

Sorry.

Speaker A:

And then the baby's face.

Speaker A:

And don't forget the baby's face.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

I've seen some new stuff on social media about it where they're saying that apparently they originally did make like a.

Speaker B:

Like a doll baby.

Speaker B:

Like a.

Speaker B:

They were gonna use, like, a puppet for the baby.

Speaker B:

But it was so terrifying that they actually refused to use it.

Speaker B:

And they see that's why they CGI'd it, which is still creepy as.

Speaker B:

But they didn't use this.

Speaker B:

Terrifying.

Speaker A:

I mean, at least.

Speaker A:

It's not.

Speaker A:

It was not an AI Baby.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

I mean, imagine if they remade this now and they made an AI Baby.

Speaker A:

So at least.

Speaker A:

At least there's that.

Speaker A:

At least.

Speaker A:

It was old school.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But anyway, so it was entertaining.

Speaker B:

He was.

Speaker B:

Babe was entertained.

Speaker B:

And I've.

Speaker B:

I guess I've scratched the itch of watching Twilight for the.

Speaker B:

You know, all the Way.

Speaker B:

All the movies through and over several.

Speaker B:

Over several weeks.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

But for the first time in like a decade.

Speaker B:

So that's good.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I did tell you that one of my friends, I got a text message that she accidentally drunkenly bought all of them instead of renting them.

Speaker A:

And she was just like, oops.

Speaker A:

I was like, now I own them.

Speaker A:

Now you own them forever.

Speaker B:

That's a lot of pressure, for sure.

Speaker B:

I think they are streaming right now.

Speaker B:

I think I have the physical DVDs of them still somewhere.

Speaker A:

I've bought them like a while ago, I think before my.

Speaker A:

My 40th birthday when we went to Belize.

Speaker A:

So we have them to watch on the plane on the way.

Speaker B:

That sounds right.

Speaker A:

Because those are important things to have.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think we were watching it in the.

Speaker B:

In the hotel room too.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we did.

Speaker A:

We were.

Speaker A:

This was just.

Speaker A:

You know, that's what you do on vacation.

Speaker A:

You bring movies with you to watch.

Speaker A:

Yeah, especially Twilight, of course.

Speaker A:

All right, let's talk about this episode.

Speaker A:

There isn't anything going on in.

Speaker A:

In supernatural news land.

Speaker B:

No, there's a bunch of weird rumor about Dean and dcu, but like.

Speaker B:

Or mcu, but like.

Speaker B:

No, it's all.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

He feels so rumoury that I don't think it's a.

Speaker B:

There's anything to report right there.

Speaker A:

No, I think I heard that he.

Speaker A:

Someone said he was.

Speaker A:

That gun said he was fine or he was a nice guy or something like that.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker A:

Yeah, they're still talking about though, you know, his.

Speaker A:

His new series that's coming up is whatever I'm happy about Vought Rising.

Speaker A:

You know, give me the superhero stuff.

Speaker A:

I don't need.

Speaker A:

I don't need another cop show anyways.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So this episode though, Funeralia and It was season 13, episode 19.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

Corrado, who this at this season did Tombstone.

Speaker A:

Last season we saw her do the one you've been waiting for.

Speaker A:

And somewhere between heaven and hell.

Speaker A:

This is written by Steve Yockey and his.

Speaker A:

The season he did advanced santology and various sundry.

Speaker A:

Various and sundry villains.

Speaker A:

So in our recap, angels are going extinct.

Speaker A:

They want Cassiel to help them.

Speaker A:

He says no.

Speaker A:

They fought.

Speaker A:

Rowena has got a page of the deadliest book in the world.

Speaker A:

But if she breaks bad, Sam will put a bullet in her himself.

Speaker A:

And she is totally using it for evil.

Speaker A:

The time Dean killed himself and met the reaper, Jessica.

Speaker A:

Billy became the new reaper and got a cool jacket.

Speaker A:

Gabriel has had enough of asmodeus's.

Speaker A:

Dumb suit.

Speaker A:

And then Gabriel bounced correct.

Speaker B:

That's what we got.

Speaker B:

And so we.

Speaker A:

Portland.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

At the Lavo Gallery.

Speaker B:

So we're an art gallery and with fancy looking cars.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And we get and pass apps and an open bar.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's not.

Speaker B:

It looks like a lovely bard opening experience.

Speaker B:

I don't know about the art, but Rowena is there and enjoying a martini and receives a phone call from Sam, Dean and Cassiel asking her for help.

Speaker B:

And Cass is trying to line out what's going on.

Speaker B:

And she flirts with him and it's cute, but basically she says that she's working on a project and that she's at a party.

Speaker B:

A note here is that we.

Speaker B:

This is where we first noticed Bernard, who looks like her security guard, following her around.

Speaker B:

It's pretty wild.

Speaker B:

But anyways.

Speaker B:

But she's at the party that she's at is making her think that the world maybe should be in danger because she's not a fan of the art here.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I mean, sometimes some art does question whether or not there should be the end of the world.

Speaker A:

And then she basically hangs up on them.

Speaker A:

And in the bunker, Cass says that Rowena is right.

Speaker A:

They never go to parties.

Speaker A:

And we go back to the gallery and Marina goes up to a woman.

Speaker A:

Her.

Speaker A:

A woman.

Speaker A:

And she's naming her and she's saying that she read something about her in the Oregon Tribune, which was apparently very unpleasant.

Speaker A:

And the song starts playing and Marina tosses her bag to this woman named Elizabeth and.

Speaker A:

And then begins to tango with Bernard.

Speaker A:

And she's just stunning.

Speaker A:

Claps all around.

Speaker A:

And then she sets Elizabeth on fire with the moors Lumina.

Speaker A:

And I really hope she got what she needed out of that handbag because the whole thing blows up.

Speaker A:

And like, whatever.

Speaker A:

Wasn't her lipstick in there?

Speaker A:

Like your car keys?

Speaker A:

Like, did you like.

Speaker A:

I hope you just.

Speaker A:

You made sure.

Speaker A:

Like, there has to be a better.

Speaker A:

But I got it now.

Speaker A:

You know, there was probably a hex thing in there, but she.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

You know, but yeah, that seems like a, you know, a little bit of a sacrifice of the.

Speaker B:

Of the handbag.

Speaker A:

Of the handbag and all things inside.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And so everybody screams and runs.

Speaker B:

I like that.

Speaker B:

Everybody just screams and runs.

Speaker B:

This woman bursts into flames.

Speaker A:

No one goes to help.

Speaker A:

Everyone just runs away.

Speaker B:

Like, what the fuck?

Speaker B:

Anyways, so.

Speaker A:

So we go to the bunker.

Speaker B:

I just want to make this note.

Speaker A:

That I made a note going, oh, at least Dean's drinking coffee.

Speaker A:

And that lasted for like five minutes.

Speaker A:

But that was how I started off this.

Speaker A:

I was like, oh, I'm so proud of you, Dean.

Speaker A:

You're drinking coffee.

Speaker B:

It was less than five minutes.

Speaker B:

He switched to beer real fast.

Speaker B:

And that he's.

Speaker B:

Him and Cassiel are discussing how to track down Gabriel if Rowena is not going to help them.

Speaker B:

And Cass is like, look, maybe I can get the angels to help me.

Speaker B:

It'd be a bit of a Hail Mary.

Speaker B:

And he's very proud of his sports reference.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And he says it's like a slam dunk or ball handler.

Speaker B:

Dean's like.

Speaker A:

And Dean's just like.

Speaker B:

And Dean's also like, by the way, this is a bad idea because the angels hate you.

Speaker A:

Want to barrel through something, cough, Cough.

Speaker A:

Dean, last episode.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

But Cass, like, I know they hate me, but they also don't want the world to end.

Speaker B:

So Sam rolls in and he's like, I have a.

Speaker B:

We have a problem because this rich lady exploded, basically.

Speaker B:

Dean says the exploded part, but still.

Speaker B:

And they know it has to be Rowena, so.

Speaker A:

And Sam's gonna go deal with it.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker A:

Because that's what he said he was gonna do.

Speaker A:

Dean's like, fine, we'll do that.

Speaker A:

Cass, you go try the angel thing if you want.

Speaker A:

Just don't get dead again.

Speaker A:

And we go from that to the playground heaven entrance, which just looks a little lonely.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Because Indra, the angel that is supposed to be guarding it is wasted face on the.

Speaker B:

On the playground.

Speaker A:

Well, he's kind of halfway to the face because it's so hard for angels.

Speaker A:

He's trying to get Wasted face.

Speaker A:

He's trying real hard.

Speaker B:

He's kind of a sad.

Speaker B:

He's.

Speaker B:

He's in the sads.

Speaker B:

And he's trying to get drunk and he want.

Speaker A:

He said he could get it together to battle if he wants.

Speaker A:

And I'm just like, dance off.

Speaker A:

So that's.

Speaker A:

You know, I'm hoping that's what they're gonna do to battle, but.

Speaker B:

Sorry, you're gonna be disappointed on this one.

Speaker B:

No, it.

Speaker B:

I mean, it's all.

Speaker B:

So he.

Speaker B:

Anyways, they have their conversation where he's like, look, like, try.

Speaker B:

Cass tries to call him out that you're supposed to be guarding the gates.

Speaker B:

And he.

Speaker B:

And Indra's like, you know, well, you can just tell everybody we fought.

Speaker B:

That's fine.

Speaker B:

Like, it's whatever.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

Yeah, so we see him go.

Speaker A:

He says he could tell everyone they fought and then you can kill me.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he says.

Speaker A:

You know, he was like.

Speaker A:

Which is.

Speaker A:

It's really fucking dark.

Speaker A:

Cass is just like, man, what's wrong with you?

Speaker B:

And then he sits on the rock, the horsey, the spring horsey, but I don't even know what those are called.

Speaker B:

And he's just like rocking.

Speaker B:

Just like rocking on the horsey with his bag of boot, like, brown paper bag.

Speaker B:

It's really a scene.

Speaker A:

Really sad.

Speaker A:

And so, yeah, Andrew sends him up to heaven to see for himself.

Speaker A:

So Cass goes into the sandpit and goes up to heaven.

Speaker A:

So Lucifer's not in heaven?

Speaker B:

Yeah, he's not there.

Speaker B:

Like, nobody's there.

Speaker B:

The throne room's empty.

Speaker B:

Like, what the is happening?

Speaker B:

Where's Lucifer?

Speaker B:

Where's Joe?

Speaker B:

Where's anybody?

Speaker B:

W. Well, Joe left.

Speaker B:

Well, yeah, but did she like leave heaven or she is leave helping loose?

Speaker B:

I mean, I don't know.

Speaker B:

Anyway, it's empty.

Speaker B:

Empty.

Speaker B:

And Duma shows up and she's got two angels with her.

Speaker B:

And she's like.

Speaker B:

He's like, look, I want to talk, you know, not murder me, please.

Speaker B:

And he gives him this.

Speaker B:

He gives them the rundown of what the going on.

Speaker B:

And it's a long shot, but.

Speaker B:

And he does say that they don't know where Lucifer is, for the record.

Speaker B:

And they don't say anything either.

Speaker B:

It's a long shot, but, you know, maybe they could.

Speaker B:

It could help.

Speaker B:

And the lights kind of like, flicker is not the right word.

Speaker B:

The light's dim and relight.

Speaker B:

What?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Yeah, they're fading in and out.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it'll get brown out.

Speaker B:

And doom is like, well, maybe we can help each other.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

And baby, they have made it to Idaho.

Speaker A:

And there is still no answer on Rowena's cell phone.

Speaker A:

And Dean says, you know, he wants a fun, flirty Rowena, but they have to be prepared for not that.

Speaker A:

And then the reaper, Jessica, just shows up in the backseat.

Speaker A:

Terrifying is terrifying.

Speaker A:

Dean freaks out, pulls over.

Speaker A:

And Jessica is just very sad that Dee never told Sam about her.

Speaker A:

And Dean finds out that Jessica's been asked to watch over them, so.

Speaker A:

By death.

Speaker A:

So she's been hovering around them like a quote unquote baby monitor.

Speaker A:

And she's seen everything.

Speaker A:

Everything.

Speaker A:

And she's really fond of Sam's extensive hair products, which that was totally a dick reference, which I did appreciate that she was making.

Speaker A:

You know, that was funny.

Speaker A:

And apparently Dean has a three day old bacon cheeseburger in his room, along with tentacle porn VHS under his bed,.

Speaker B:

Which is a nice throwback to a couple episodes ago.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But also, ew.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And she informs them that people in Portland are dying outside of their assigned times.

Speaker B:

And there's been four so far.

Speaker B:

So it's not just the chick that went.

Speaker B:

Went up in flames.

Speaker B:

There's been others too.

Speaker B:

And so she.

Speaker B:

That now they know that this is a bigger deal.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker B:

And she kind of offers to help.

Speaker B:

And Sam's kind of like, no, but Dean's like, maybe we could use her help.

Speaker B:

I might need it.

Speaker B:

So we cut to Rowena sitting at a desk and I guess her hotel that she's living in or whatever, it's pretty, but yeah.

Speaker B:

And on it she.

Speaker B:

Is that a baby picture of Crowley?

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's what it has to be.

Speaker A:

A little picture of Ferguson.

Speaker B:

And she says, talks about how she's feeling sentimental these days.

Speaker B:

And we have Bernard, her who looked like security, and her dance partner bringing delivering martinis.

Speaker B:

And she knows that Sam and Dean aren't going to give it up.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

But she's capable of anything now.

Speaker B:

And her eyes glow purple.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And we go back to the gallery where Dean and Sam have taken on their fed Personas.

Speaker A:

Sam has somehow hacked Elizabeth's emails.

Speaker A:

But then he's also not looking at them.

Speaker A:

He's looking at a page in the Oregon.

Speaker A:

An article from her about her from the Oregon Tribune.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker A:

That basically says that she was naughty.

Speaker A:

And the company she was CFO of sold thousands of wrongly labeled drugs that resulted in a lot of deaths.

Speaker A:

And she denied any responsibility and her lawyer got her off in a technicality.

Speaker A:

So now we're finding out some bad things about like the people who were dying, maybe.

Speaker A:

And the Dean also notices that there's two piles of ashes.

Speaker A:

And Sam thinks that's something he's seen before.

Speaker A:

He pulls up an old manuscript.

Speaker A:

Images that shows the ashes are from a dead reaper.

Speaker B:

It's interesting.

Speaker B:

And so Dean's like, all right, idea.

Speaker B:

They run outside.

Speaker B:

Well, they walk outside and he just yells out for Jessica.

Speaker B:

And so she just appears.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, why didn't you tell us about the dead reapers?

Speaker B:

What the heck?

Speaker B:

So she explains that Rowena is changing people's fates and killing them before their time.

Speaker B:

And when the reaper shows up, she kills them too.

Speaker B:

And they want to ask Rowena why they're doing this.

Speaker B:

Because it's throwing off fate and the greater machinery of death.

Speaker B:

So it's going to result in what is known as the butterfly effect.

Speaker B:

And everybody, she makes sure everybody knows what that means.

Speaker A:

Well, and one.

Speaker A:

I mean, they've shown the butterfly effect isn't true.

Speaker A:

But the way that she explains it is that if just one person dies before their time.

Speaker A:

It creates a ripple effect that it can affect thousands, hundreds of lives.

Speaker A:

And so hasn't that already happened?

Speaker A:

If four people have died, aren't we already like off kilter here?

Speaker A:

I feel like we're already on like the exponential of.

Speaker A:

Now you're at four people.

Speaker A:

You know, that's, you know, for.

Speaker A:

Is that at least 400?

Speaker A:

If not, you know, I'm like, I'm doing supernatural math here.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but that's, you know, we're.

Speaker A:

That's a lot of lives that are affected and we're just gonna let that go on.

Speaker A:

Okay, so we're fine with that.

Speaker A:

But if it keeps going, then there's gonna need to be a massive kill off that generally is going to be something like a plague or a really large war.

Speaker B:

That doesn't sound good.

Speaker B:

No, they would prefer to avoid those things.

Speaker B:

But they can't directly intervene because the reapers can't directly intervene because Billy's rules are to keep clean hands and no direct interference.

Speaker B:

So then, yeah, and they discuss that Dean has seen the shelf of all the potential ways that he could die.

Speaker B:

And there's a whole big old shelf of different ways Dean Winchester could die.

Speaker A:

Bunch of notebooks.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

But Rowena's only has one.

Speaker B:

There's literally only one way she dies the same way, no matter what.

Speaker B:

And that is by Sam Winchester.

Speaker A:

Which is a really interesting thing, knowing you know how someone's going to die.

Speaker A:

So we go back to heaven and Cass is just fucking around an empty throne room while the power goes in and out.

Speaker A:

Duma and the crew show up and she says, look, if you can bring Gabriel back home, they can help with everything else.

Speaker A:

And just when Cass is asking why they can't just find a few angel who shows up but her old friend Naomi, sporting a haircut that I think both Diana and I have had at some point in our lives.

Speaker B:

I was like.

Speaker B:

I was like, oh, I kind of like her hair.

Speaker B:

I've had that hair.

Speaker B:

That's hilarious.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And she's like, but.

Speaker B:

And we get a bunch of flashbacks to her being a torturing bitch.

Speaker B:

And then she basically says that they can't help.

Speaker B:

And Cass is pissed.

Speaker A:

But yeah, it's not that they won't.

Speaker A:

It's that they can't.

Speaker A:

And so we go from there to baby.

Speaker A:

And Sam is confirmed, is confirming that Rowena has been working her way through this.

Speaker A:

Pharmaceutical people and everyone in the company that are high up are dead.

Speaker A:

Except for the CEO, James Melford, which then Jessica pops back up in the backseat to tell them that the CEO is dying and scares the crap out of both of them again.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then she tells him that his time of death has shifted to now.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Helpful.

Speaker B:

Helpful.

Speaker A:

Now we can't stop it because it's now.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And we cut to a yard where James is bleeding.

Speaker B:

And Rowena's standing over him with Bernard.

Speaker B:

And she is talking about all the people that he's harmed.

Speaker B:

And so now she's going, now he can help somebody.

Speaker B:

Meaning her.

Speaker B:

So she waits until the reaper appears.

Speaker B:

And Ciel says that she wants to talk to Billy.

Speaker B:

And the reaper's like, death doesn't negotiate with witches.

Speaker A:

Well, she doesn't know it's Billy yet.

Speaker A:

She just wants to talk to death.

Speaker B:

She wants to death.

Speaker B:

You're right.

Speaker B:

Sorry.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But she wants to talk to death.

Speaker B:

And the reaper's like, the death doesn't negotiate with witches.

Speaker B:

And then James and the reaper burst into flames.

Speaker A:

So they're both combusted.

Speaker A:

Bernard at this point, looks way too much like one of my shit bag exes.

Speaker A:

And it's really starting to annoy me.

Speaker A:

Like, he just has the same face as him.

Speaker A:

And I'm really starting to get frustrated with him at this point.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So we go to that same plot of land just later.

Speaker A:

And so the boys have finally arrived.

Speaker A:

They are there with Jessica, and they're all.

Speaker A:

They're all there.

Speaker A:

And Rowena finally calls them.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And she lightly threatens them.

Speaker A:

And she wants to explain that she's either gonna.

Speaker A:

She wants to explain and she's gonna text them an address where either they'll believe her or they won't, but either way, drinks are on her.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And they know it could be a trap, but.

Speaker B:

Because it's Rowena.

Speaker B:

But whatever, they're gonna.

Speaker B:

That they gotta.

Speaker B:

They gotta meet with her.

Speaker B:

So it is what it is.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And Rowena is putting hex bags in her bag again.

Speaker A:

And I'm like, you said, you just get these handbags out of nowhere.

Speaker A:

Rowena, what are you doing with them?

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So she's got another handbag.

Speaker A:

And then she asked Bernard if he's ready.

Speaker A:

And he cracks his knuckles.

Speaker B:

So tough.

Speaker B:

So your favorite Naomi.

Speaker B:

Naomi is.

Speaker B:

Informs Castiel that a drill in her head wasn't gonna kill her, which is kind of funny.

Speaker B:

And he's.

Speaker B:

And he just straight kills her.

Speaker A:

She does make a lot.

Speaker A:

A ton of, like, hold the head jokes here.

Speaker A:

Like, she just kind of, like, runs with it.

Speaker A:

And I kind of appreciate it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

But Cass is like, oh, I was relieved when I heard you were dead.

Speaker A:

Damn.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then he says he threatened to tear him apart, but he uses air quotes for some reason.

Speaker A:

And just in that way that I'm like, cass, you don't know how to use air quotes.

Speaker A:

Stop using them.

Speaker A:

Correct.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

And he basically tells her that and I'm sorry goes a long way.

Speaker B:

And her response is, mm,.

Speaker A:

Damn, that's cold blooded.

Speaker A:

Cold.

Speaker A:

So we find out that she had some reliable angels, spread the word that she was dead.

Speaker A:

And she.

Speaker A:

And this is where she's needed a few years to put the thoughts back together in her skull.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Oh, Yeah.

Speaker B:

And she explains, though, that angels power heaven and that they are walking, talking batteries.

Speaker B:

And then the lights go.

Speaker B:

We get the lights dimming and brightening back up again.

Speaker B:

And basically she says, she's like, they're.

Speaker B:

We're running out of power.

Speaker B:

There are a total of nine angels left in heaven and one or two on Earth, and that's it.

Speaker B:

And that seems very, very, very bad.

Speaker A:

That seems like a very small number of angels.

Speaker B:

Like, holy.

Speaker A:

Like, we knew they were small numbers, but, like, that's ridiculous.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And so he's.

Speaker B:

So she's like, so none of us can leave because we're barely keeping the lights on as it is.

Speaker B:

We need any archangel we can get.

Speaker B:

Well, we needed.

Speaker B:

We thought we could need any archangel, but we were.

Speaker B:

We were wrong.

Speaker B:

Basically.

Speaker B:

We didn't need any archangel.

Speaker B:

That's another story.

Speaker B:

Keeping their cards to their chest on that one.

Speaker B:

But with Gabriel, they.

Speaker B:

They keep heaven running.

Speaker B:

And without him, they're gonna burn out and heaven will crumble and all the souls in heaven will fall back onto Earth like billions of ghosts.

Speaker B:

Chaos and death.

Speaker B:

Is what she said that's upsetting.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah, it's like Ghostbusters.

Speaker A:

Like, you know, when all the release.

Speaker B:

They shoot out of the Empire State Building or whatever the it is.

Speaker B:

The Chrysler.

Speaker B:

Chrysler Building.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B:

Anyways, yeah, I think it's interesting to point out though, at this point, no one has informed Castiel that Lucifer has come and sat on the throne.

Speaker A:

No, they just neglected to say that.

Speaker B:

Because the angels are still dicks.

Speaker A:

They are.

Speaker A:

They are.

Speaker A:

They're still.

Speaker A:

Still playing their own game.

Speaker A:

So we go further to their heavens, back to Portland.

Speaker A:

I would like to go to this bar.

Speaker A:

It is a former prohibition cocktail bar.

Speaker A:

Rosewood Hotel, George, in Vancouver.

Speaker A:

It's unfortunately now closed.

Speaker B:

Oh, that furniture.

Speaker B:

I want the furniture.

Speaker B:

Yeah, Emerald green.

Speaker B:

Anyways, so Zarowena joins Sam and Dean, who already have their beers, and.

Speaker B:

And Sam just straight up asks if she was playing him because he's upset because his trust was broken.

Speaker B:

They had a deal.

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, I'm gonna write wrongs.

Speaker B:

These people lied about their product for money and avoided the law.

Speaker B:

They hurt thousands of people.

Speaker B:

They're worse than the monsters that y' all kill.

Speaker B:

This is just me doing justice.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

And Dean says that they're innocents, and he says it with so much righteousness that I just want to scream.

Speaker A:

And Rowena, though, when she says that they're not innocent, I think is something interesting because I think the reapers are.

Speaker B:

And then that's when they ask about the reapers.

Speaker B:

And so.

Speaker B:

So Sam asks about the reapers, and she's like, well, that's a means to an end, trying to get death sentences attention.

Speaker B:

Because she has something I want or Death has something I want.

Speaker B:

My son.

Speaker B:

Oh, she wants Crowley.

Speaker B:

So after he died, apparently she realized that she loved him or something.

Speaker B:

And that was.

Speaker A:

Yeah, she had an unexpected reaction to his death, and she blames herself for everything he did, and he deserved better than dying in a gutter.

Speaker B:

And so.

Speaker B:

But Dean's like, but he's actually dead.

Speaker B:

Sorry.

Speaker B:

And she's like, well, what?

Speaker B:

Only the Winchesters are the ones that can come back from the dead.

Speaker A:

Really?

Speaker A:

Seriously?

Speaker A:

Like, you're gonna talk about not bringing people back from the dead?

Speaker B:

Not the right person to bring that up, man.

Speaker A:

Is this whole season about us going back to get your mom correct, who.

Speaker B:

Died a long time ago?

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And so.

Speaker B:

But basically, they tell.

Speaker B:

They tell Rowena that death has noticed.

Speaker B:

They say she's noticed, which is the first time that she learned that death is a she.

Speaker B:

But basically, she's like, whatever, I'm not scared.

Speaker B:

You can't stop me.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

And so they're like, well, you know, I don't.

Speaker B:

I don't know about that.

Speaker B:

That.

Speaker B:

You know, every version of your real death, Sam kills you, so.

Speaker B:

But that's not going to happen tonight.

Speaker B:

It's okay.

Speaker B:

We're just going to handcuff you in the middle of a bar.

Speaker B:

Super subtle.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Nobody will notice a woman handcuffed in the middle of a bar.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker A:

But they find out that Rowena was only astral projecting to the table, and she had she and Bernard escape.

Speaker A:

And we're gonna talk about one woman who escaped.

Speaker A:

Witch.

Speaker A:

Who is another witch who escaped.

Speaker A:

That's, like, the transition.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna go with.

Speaker A:

lore, And we're going to the:

Speaker A:

Both male and female, were common and largely ignored.

Speaker A:

Unless they harmed people.

Speaker A:

People consulted them for love magic and thief magic, to find lost or stolen things.

Speaker A:

And this is a tale of two women of this world who were accused of necromancies, aka raising the dead, like Rowena did in the 15th century.

Speaker A:

And the first, Marjorie Jordeman, the Witch of AI, was described in a poem as follows.

Speaker A:

There was a bill dam called the Witch of AI, or old Mother Madge.

Speaker A:

Her neighbors did her name, which wrought wonders in countries by hearsay, Both fiends and fairies her charming would obey and dead corpses from grave she would uprear.

Speaker A:

Such an enchantress as that time had no peer.

Speaker A:

I want someone to write a poem like that about me.

Speaker A:

It was pretty cool.

Speaker A:

So we don't know much about Marjorie's ancestry, but her husband's family, the Jordan, were yeomen from Middlesex and were well respected.

Speaker A:

Her arrest in:

Speaker A:

In:

Speaker A:

She was examined in:

Speaker A:

And this was.

Speaker A:

This also kind of reminds me of Rowena.

Speaker A:

So she said, of course I'm not going to practice witchcraft.

Speaker A:

And then of course she did.

Speaker B:

Duh.

Speaker A:

And it is possible that during her imprisonment, she was introduced to men of learning and scholarship as her fellow prisoners at Windsor Castle included friars and clerics, which would not be normal for a woman of her status to be, you know, hanging around with people like that.

Speaker A:

So Marjorie was probably an ambitious woman who met the demand for love potions.

Speaker A:

Folk medicines and charms were some of the highest in the land.

Speaker A:

She supposedly practiced image magic, in which you can make an axe, ax, make a wax image of your proposed victim, and then destroy it to kill the victim.

Speaker C:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Our second sorceress, Eleanor Cobham, was described as a woman distinguished in her form and beautiful and marvelously pleasant.

Speaker A:

She was born the daughter of a knight, Sir Regional Cobham, but really in this story, being born, like from a knight doesn't make you that well off.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

She's kind of.

Speaker A:

She was of a lower gentry, and some people are going to think she gets a buffer station because of that.

Speaker A:

In her early 20s, Eleanor entered the house of Jacqueline, Countess of Arnold.

Speaker A:

Jackie had made, or I was calling her Jackie.

Speaker A:

Jackie had made a reputation for herself, repudiating her husband and marrying the brother of King Henry V, Humphrey, the Duke of Gloucester.

Speaker A:

Gloucester patronized the Art supported learning and was said to be an enthusiastic soldier.

Speaker A:

And after King Henry V died, Gloucester claimed the right to be regent for the baby, King Henry vi.

Speaker A:

And this, of course, made a lot of people resentful because politics.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So the household, including Eleanor and Gloucester, went to Calais because Jackie was trying to recover Annal from her ex husband and Holland and Zealand from her uncle.

Speaker A:

I. I don't.

Speaker A:

There was a country named Zealand at some point.

Speaker A:

I think that's amazing.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So the locals did not support their cause and instead sided with the Duke of Burgundy.

Speaker A:

And Gloucester abandoned Jacqueline to return to England.

Speaker A:

Eleanor would return with him.

Speaker A:

jorie for her love potions in:

Speaker A:

The Jack the Pope ruled Jacqueline's marriage to Gloucester was invalid because of her previous husband.

Speaker A:

But since that husband was dead, they could get remarried.

Speaker A:

But instead of doing that, Gloucester married Eleanor.

Speaker A:

She was a bit his mistress before they got married.

Speaker A:

We don't know exactly when that started because Louster was a womanizer and had lots of mistresses, but he decided to marry this one.

Speaker A:

So she.

Speaker A:

They become fan.

Speaker A:

The King is like fans of her and Humphrey as like their aunt, uncle.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And he gives them lots of jewels and all sorts of things like that.

Speaker A:

Well, Eleanor was just not favorable with the people as she flaunted her pride and her position by riding through the streets of London glitteringly dressed.

Speaker A:

And they thought that was just too uppity for her.

Speaker A:

Just after midsummer in:

Speaker A:

Accompanied by fancy lords and servants, she went to dine at the King's head.

Speaker A:

When word came that three of her servants had been accused of conspiring against the King.

Speaker A:

It was alleged that in:

Speaker A:

No, not a horoscope.

Speaker A:

So her servants involved in the plot were Bolingbroke, a renowned Oxford priest and scholar, a great and knowing man in astronomy, and Southwell, a canon and royal court physician.

Speaker A:

Bolingbroke was specifically accused of contacting demons and malign spirits to carry out these astrological predictions.

Speaker A:

So not only did he predict the horoscope, he also was like, I'm getting the demon that's gonna like, make the.

Speaker A:

Make Henry die, like it says in here.

Speaker A:

So a nervous Henry VI promptly commissioned a new horoscope, which just happened to refute the one that was drawn by Bolingbroke and Southwell.

Speaker A:

If the new astrologer, whose identity is unknown, had learned that Henry would live another 30 years, but would die as a prisoner in the Tower of London, probably through foul play, he wisely admitted that from fortune.

Speaker A:

So Bolingbroke was tried before church, church authorities for hearsay.

Speaker A:

On July 23, he was made to sit on a high stage at St Paul's Cross, London, wearing a paper crown and surrounded by magical items, including wax and metal images, where he confessed and swore not to deal with the devil anymore.

Speaker A:

That is such a thing to see, that is.

Speaker A:

I love the paper crown.

Speaker A:

The paper crown is the best part.

Speaker A:

So he also went before the King's council to answer for treason.

Speaker A:

So that first part.

Speaker A:

That first part was there's.

Speaker A:

There's ecclesiastical trials that are going on within the Church and then there's secular ones that are going on with the King for treason, right?

Speaker A:

So he goes.

Speaker A:

So Bolingbroke goes before the King's Council to answer for treason, and this is where he throws Eleanor under the bus, saying it was first she who first stirred him to know what a state should come.

Speaker A:

So Eleanor flees to Westminster, and that doesn't really last because it's an abbey and they're like, you've got to appear before court.

Speaker A:

So she has to appear before an ecclesiastical court.

Speaker A:

And that is probably because she was a woman, that she wasn't in the secular, that she was mainly in the ecclesiastical one.

Speaker A:

But they still brought up 28 charges of witchcraft, hearsay and treason.

Speaker A:

She admitted to five of the charges, but pleaded not guilty to the rest.

Speaker A:

So we don't know which of the five exactly she said that she did.

Speaker A:

But this is probably also when she threw Marjorie under the bus.

Speaker A:

Eleanor was ordered to Leeds Castle in August to investigate the charges of treason against the King.

Speaker A:

She faked being sick and tried to escape by boat, but that failed.

Speaker A:

In October, they took Eleanor back to Westminster for a second ecclesiastical tribunal headed by Robert Gilbert, the Bishop of London.

Speaker A:

She was charged with attempting to cause the King's death by sorcery and witchcraft, which she denied during a hearing in which Bolingbroke and his instruments are brought out again.

Speaker A:

So here comes Bolingbroke with this is all my wax and my metal stuff.

Speaker A:

Eleanor admitted to consulting Marjorie for witchcraft, but swore it had nothing to do with treason and that she made wax images for two to have borne a child by here lord the Duke of Gloucester.

Speaker A:

So she was doing the wax images not to kill the King, but in order to make a baby.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker A:

Eleanor denied, seeking to know the future of the King through necromancy.

Speaker A:

But she did acknowledge recourse to the black art.

Speaker A:

Marjorie was found guilty of hearsay and the long, long time practice of witchcraft and consultation with the devil and the Bishop of Canterbury's court.

Speaker A:

Her witchcraft relapse was likely the reason she was burned at the stake.

Speaker A:

Marjorie was taken from the Tower to Smithfield, where she was burnt to the stake on October 27.

Speaker A:

The same day, a secular court made up of the Duke of Norfolk, four orals and other noblemen, royal judges and also London's Mayor, together with five juries drawn from the city's wards, met to determine whether Eleanor, along with her servants, sought to cause the King's death via magic.

Speaker A:

On November 9, Eleanor was found guilty of sorcery and witchcraft, but not treason.

Speaker A:

So her sentence was she was not burnt at the stake.

Speaker A:

Her sentence was to do the walk of shame around Westminster and London three times.

Speaker A:

So on Monday, November 13, she went by water from Westminster to the temple landing stage.

Speaker A:

Bareheaded and barefoot, dressed all in Black, escorted by two knights, she walked to St. Paul's Cathedral holding a lit candle which she carried to the altar.

Speaker A:

Then two days later, she went from Westminster to the Swan Pier and then she went to another church with another candle.

Speaker A:

And then on Friday, she went from Westminster to another church with a third candle.

Speaker A:

So she has to do the shame, shame, shame.

Speaker A:

The people in the streets were told not to throw things at her, but I don't know if they did that or not.

Speaker A:

So she returned to Westminster and then she was to be imprisoned for life, limited to a royal pension of £100 a year and only 12 servants.

Speaker B:

That's all.

Speaker A:

Only 12 servants.

Speaker A:

You know, I don't.

Speaker A:

I don't know like how you even.

Speaker A:

Like how do you even get a bath with that, you know.

Speaker A:

So the King sent her to Cheshire, ordering that it not be delayed, no matter how sick Eleanor pretended to be.

Speaker A:

r, then to the Isle of man in:

Speaker A:

The castle.

Speaker A:

hrey, who died of a stroke in:

Speaker A:

Southwell died of sorrow during Eleanor's trial, likely having acquired poison to kill himself.

Speaker A:

Bowling Brook.

Speaker A:

This one's really bad.

Speaker A:

He was taken to the Tyburn gallows after being found guilty of treason, where he was drawn and killed.

Speaker A:

Headquartered, they set his head on London Bridge and sent his four quarters to the towns of Oxford.

Speaker A:

I have no idea what they did with those.

Speaker A:

Like, what?

Speaker A:

And who has to sit.

Speaker A:

Like you're punishing the poor person.

Speaker A:

Who has to like.

Speaker A:

Yeah, who gotta take it too, right?

Speaker A:

Like you gotta like ride through like from London to Oxford, which is not close with like a man's leg with you.

Speaker A:

Gross.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

hedral where he was buried in:

Speaker A:

So that is the story of necromancy.

Speaker A:

And two witches, one of which was richer and didn't die at the stake.

Speaker B:

There you go.

Speaker B:

There you go crazy.

Speaker A:

So back to supernatural land, where.

Speaker A:

And our witch arena has just escaped by ash.

Speaker A:

She is astral rejected.

Speaker A:

And she's escaped from the bar.

Speaker A:

And Sam and Dean go running with their guns out through the bar.

Speaker A:

It's Portland, man.

Speaker A:

Like, this is it.

Speaker B:

Well, apparently this bar is attached to the A hotel because that's where we're around to.

Speaker B:

And it's apparently the one that she's staying in.

Speaker B:

So they have.

Speaker B:

We've got Bernard attacks Dean.

Speaker B:

Sam goes after Rowena.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, why are you helping her?

Speaker B:

And he's like, she's probably, you know, assumes that he's just been magicked into brain control of her.

Speaker B:

And I like that.

Speaker B:

Bernard's like, she's powerful, gorgeous, and paying a small fortune.

Speaker B:

She didn't have to cast a spell.

Speaker A:

And I like him a little bit more when he says.

Speaker A:

Says that.

Speaker B:

So they have an epic fight, which.

Speaker B:

But there's a really funny pause in it because the elevator opens and there's a couple standing in the elevator and they're fighting right in front of it.

Speaker B:

And they just like push the button to close the.

Speaker B:

The door close button.

Speaker B:

You know, they're just like, no.

Speaker A:

Which is exactly what I would do.

Speaker A:

Close, close, close.

Speaker B:

But Sam catches up to Rowena in an alley and he's got.

Speaker B:

Pointing the pistol at her and he's like, look, I get it about Crowley, about going after family, but, you know, but you're.

Speaker B:

You're messing with the machinery of the universe.

Speaker B:

And she's like, no, you can't.

Speaker B:

I can't stop.

Speaker B:

And you're gonna have to shoot me, period.

Speaker B:

And is her backs to him.

Speaker B:

And he hesitates.

Speaker B:

And as she turns around, though, he does pull the trigger.

Speaker A:

He shoots her.

Speaker A:

You son of a.

Speaker A:

But Rowena can stop bullets now.

Speaker B:

Yeah, her magic is real strong now.

Speaker B:

So she stops the bullet in mid air.

Speaker B:

And she's very upset that Sam was gonna shoot her actually.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And then as she should be should she?

Speaker A:

I mean, you know Serena.

Speaker B:

Yes, she promised.

Speaker B:

But anyways.

Speaker B:

But she says a magic word and Sam falls over, so.

Speaker B:

But Dean and Bernard are still fighting.

Speaker B:

This is a long fight.

Speaker B:

And Jessica appears and she's super helpful and telling Dean that he's doing really well, but he needs to hurry.

Speaker B:

But she's not helping.

Speaker B:

Not able to actually intervene and help.

Speaker B:

But finally, finally Dean manages to choke Bernard out.

Speaker B:

And she's like, if.

Speaker B:

Jessica's like, yeah, he was a highly trained military operative.

Speaker B:

That was very impressive.

Speaker B:

Thanks, Jessica.

Speaker A:

Thanks.

Speaker A:

So helpful.

Speaker A:

And Dean goes running after Sam.

Speaker A:

He finds Sam.

Speaker A:

Gun.

Speaker A:

Sam's gun, lying in the alleyway.

Speaker A:

And he picks it up and he yells at Jessica, where the hell is my brother?

Speaker B:

So Rowena has Sam in her hotel room, her room, whatever she's living in.

Speaker B:

And has him magically pinned to a chair.

Speaker B:

And she's like, yeah, don't struggle.

Speaker B:

He's like, your power has made you crazy.

Speaker B:

She's like, no.

Speaker B:

Gave me clarity.

Speaker B:

And, you know, basically, you know, I did everything before for wealth, magic and self, and it took everything from me.

Speaker B:

So I might be petty, maybe flawed and petty and evil creature, but I have to try to be redeemed.

Speaker A:

And she says she has to try.

Speaker A:

And she just wishes there was another way.

Speaker A:

And if Sam is the only way to stop her, if she kills Sam, then death will have to grant her an audience.

Speaker A:

And I'm just like, sam, why don't you just give her the fucking death summoning spell that you indeed had used for, like, the past, like, 15 seasons.

Speaker A:

Or to summon death.

Speaker A:

Why can't you just use that spell?

Speaker B:

That's a good question.

Speaker A:

Sorry, that just makes me mad.

Speaker A:

Like, did it only work for the old death?

Speaker A:

Does it not work for Billy?

Speaker A:

I don't know, but that just makes me mad.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

And then she rips her.

Speaker A:

Sam's shirt open.

Speaker A:

I don't really mind that.

Speaker A:

And then she cuts her hand with an unsanitary knife.

Speaker A:

I hate that.

Speaker A:

And then she pours a potion on it.

Speaker A:

And she.

Speaker A:

Sam's like, what is that?

Speaker A:

And she's like, you don't want to know.

Speaker A:

And so we don't know what it is.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then she asks a really good question.

Speaker A:

She's like, what haven't you done for family?

Speaker A:

And what wouldn't you do?

Speaker B:

And then she presses chest.

Speaker B:

Her hand on his chest.

Speaker B:

And it's.

Speaker B:

We get like a purple, pink electrical lines glowing through Sam.

Speaker B:

And he is clearly in a lot of pain.

Speaker B:

And Billy appears.

Speaker B:

And Rowena recognizes Billy, the Reaper and didn't know that Billy was now death.

Speaker B:

And Billy's like, you're upsetting the natural order, and that's unwise.

Speaker B:

And Rowena's like, fine, give me my son back.

Speaker B:

And it all stops.

Speaker B:

And Billy's like, no.

Speaker B:

Just no.

Speaker B:

So, like, I'm gonna kill Sam, and I'll really mess up the natural order.

Speaker B:

And Billy's like, go ahead.

Speaker B:

And Sam looks like he's still in pain while this is all going on, which is an unfortunate part.

Speaker B:

And, But Billy's like, look, it wouldn't be a good thing if you killed Sam.

Speaker B:

But at the same time, I don't do blackmail.

Speaker B:

So I don't know.

Speaker B:

We'll see what happens.

Speaker B:

And Sam's still trying to cut he through the pain.

Speaker B:

He's trying to plead with her.

Speaker B:

He's like, look, I, I, I know what you're going through, and I understand why you're doing this, but please don't do this.

Speaker B:

And you know this isn't who you are now.

Speaker B:

I know you're different now.

Speaker B:

And so Rowena pivots and decides to attack Billy, yelling that it's not fair.

Speaker A:

She basically throws a purple tantrum at death.

Speaker A:

Because life isn't fair.

Speaker A:

And it doesn't even phase Billy at all.

Speaker A:

Billy is just like, yep, keep it coming.

Speaker A:

Keep it coming.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But somehow this frees Sam.

Speaker B:

And Billy tells Rowena that.

Speaker B:

That you were never going to kill Sam.

Speaker B:

And not now, at least, so.

Speaker B:

And Rowena is crying while Billy gives her the fun fact that everybody gets to remember that life is unfair.

Speaker B:

We lose things.

Speaker B:

We make mistakes.

Speaker B:

And some things can never be fixed.

Speaker A:

They just are, no matter how powerful you become.

Speaker A:

And everyone just has to live with that.

Speaker A:

Like you, Death.

Speaker A:

That's just rude.

Speaker A:

It's so mean.

Speaker A:

So rude.

Speaker A:

So we're like, fine, whatever.

Speaker A:

Sometimes there's just a natural order of things.

Speaker A:

But Rowena asked death to take her, and Death won't.

Speaker A:

And so she already knows how her story ends.

Speaker A:

And then Dean and Jessica bust in.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Billy just says, hi.

Speaker B:

I'll see you again soon, Dean.

Speaker B:

And poofs out.

Speaker A:

That's creepy.

Speaker A:

Nobody likes that.

Speaker B:

No upsetting things.

Speaker B:

You don't want to hear Death say you don't.

Speaker A:

And we go from there.

Speaker A:

We go from that, though, to the playground where Naomi is telling is out there with Cass.

Speaker A:

And she's selling Cass, you know, if she finds Gabriel to bring in there.

Speaker A:

And if not, they're gonna keep going as long as they can.

Speaker A:

And Cass is just kind of optimistic and thinks that they'll find a way to fix it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And Naomi says that this might be one of those things that can't be fixed.

Speaker A:

Which right after death speech, I think is pretty poignant to have that right there.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You've got heaven and death both saying that some things just are.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then she says that maybe the angels are going to end because everything ends.

Speaker A:

But until then, the gates of heaven are closed.

Speaker B:

So what does that mean?

Speaker A:

What does that mean to all the souls go to hell?

Speaker A:

Like, what.

Speaker A:

What do you do?

Speaker A:

What are the reasons hanging out on earth?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

They just going to become ghosts.

Speaker A:

What's going to happen?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

This doesn't seem good.

Speaker B:

Seems bad.

Speaker B:

Seems very bad.

Speaker B:

And then.

Speaker B:

Then Castiel plays with the sand.

Speaker A:

Well, he was thoughtful.

Speaker B:

He's like sand funny.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So ephemeral.

Speaker A:

Just like.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So we go back from there to the hotel and they're all like on.

Speaker B:

The floor and Rowena are hitting the mini bar.

Speaker B:

Yeah, they have hit.

Speaker A:

And they were full size beers in that mini bar.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker B:

It's crazy.

Speaker B:

So Dean says that he feels like he got punched in the face a lot, which is a good observation.

Speaker B:

And Rowena calls Bernard very enthusiastic, which I thought was just a funny description for him.

Speaker B:

I appreciated that.

Speaker B:

But she's like, look, but she fought death and she lost.

Speaker B:

And now she's tired and upset and she asks Sam, what.

Speaker B:

What is.

Speaker B:

What have I done?

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, look, you had a chance to kill me and you didn't.

Speaker B:

So we'll call it progress.

Speaker B:

I feel like he says it a lot more like, sweetly than that, but I'm like, okay.

Speaker B:

And they're like, look, it's Crowley's.

Speaker B:

How Crowley ends up is not your fault.

Speaker B:

He had, you know, she's like, no, he never had a choice and.

Speaker B:

Or never had a chance.

Speaker B:

And Dan's like, no, he made his choices.

Speaker B:

We all make our choices.

Speaker B:

Everything we do.

Speaker B:

We all, we, all of us, we have to live with the choices that we've made.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, yeah, you know, you're still.

Speaker B:

You know, you're still the deadliest witch around.

Speaker B:

And we really.

Speaker B:

We just really need your help.

Speaker B:

We need to see your help save our family and the world.

Speaker B:

And this could be a little step towards our big step towards being redeemed is what Dean adds.

Speaker B:

So they think.

Speaker A:

They both.

Speaker A:

And they both think that she can be redeemed.

Speaker A:

Dean says that he does.

Speaker A:

And then the fact that Dean says.

Speaker B:

That he thinks that she can Be.

Speaker A:

Redeemed, I think, is pretty big.

Speaker A:

And Sam's.

Speaker A:

Sam says he does, too.

Speaker A:

And then Sam's like, by the way, Lucifer is back.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

She takes that surprisingly well.

Speaker A:

She also is just like, I know Lucifer isn't the one who's gonna kill me now.

Speaker B:

That's.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I don't know if that.

Speaker B:

Is that.

Speaker B:

Is that a relief?

Speaker B:

I guess.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, Sam's like, well, you've.

Speaker B:

You know, you've changed other people's fates, and maybe you can change yours, too.

Speaker A:

Are you in?

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

We got a couple cast folks here.

Speaker B:

Casting couch.

Speaker B:

It's the casting and couch.

Speaker C:

Were they on that show that time with that guy?

Speaker B:

So Bernard was played by Jason William Day.

Speaker B:

He's been in episodes of Almost Human, Flash, Falling Skies, Fargo, Lucifer, Van.

Speaker B:

Van Helsing a few times.

Speaker B:

Trackers.

Speaker B:

Trackers, Travelers, Goodness, Ghost wars, iZombie, Arrow, Altered Carbon, Charmed Riverdale, and Billy the Kid miniseries.

Speaker B:

He's a soldier in Deadpool.

Speaker B:

He's a thug in the movie Skyscraper and Father Camera in the movie Long Legs.

Speaker B:

He's also mostly known for his stunt work, though, and he's done stunts in a lot of the same shows that he was an actor in, as well as things like Fifty Shades of Darker, Shazam, Siren, Snowpiercer, Peacemaker, and Last of.

Speaker A:

Us,.

Speaker B:

Elizabeth Mueller, who got the.

Speaker B:

For our first combustion.

Speaker B:

She.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Played by Sherilyn Allen.

Speaker B:

She's been in episodes of Frequency Eye, Zombie, the Good Doctor, Batwoman, and Doc James Melford.

Speaker B:

Our second combustion was played by Blake Staddle, and he's been in Smallville, Riverdale and Fire country, and our angel that couldn't get drunk, Indra was played by Luke Roderick, and he's been in episodes of Flash, I, Zombie and Sea.

Speaker B:

's also a bomb Tracker in the:

Speaker B:

Very nice.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

There we go.

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker B:

Cool.

Speaker A:

So, what'd you think?

Speaker B:

Well, I know you're happy with Rowena being back and her fabulous wardrobe.

Speaker A:

My fabulous wardrobe.

Speaker A:

I mean, the.

Speaker A:

Like I said, the trouser, the trousers with the blouse was a really nice change.

Speaker B:

It was.

Speaker B:

It's a nice look.

Speaker B:

Nice.

Speaker B:

Mix it up.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think.

Speaker B:

You know, I don't know how I feel about the return of Naomi.

Speaker B:

I think we could have done without that.

Speaker B:

That's my opinion.

Speaker B:

But I feel like this was a really good.

Speaker B:

Like, we kind of had some weird emotional Episodes, like, weird attitudes and, like, attitudes, not weird, bad attitudes and, like, people being dicks a lot.

Speaker B:

And I feel like everybody kind of needed, like, a little, like, this was kind of a emotionally redemptive episode for our characters.

Speaker B:

Does that make sense?

Speaker B:

It does, but.

Speaker B:

So I think that was good.

Speaker B:

As we get it so close to the end of the season, which is crazy.

Speaker B:

And it's a lot to still wrap up and tie together and put in a box.

Speaker B:

We are.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

We've got a lot still laying out there.

Speaker A:

As Cass keeps saying.

Speaker A:

We've got to worry about that whole Archangel Michael thing.

Speaker A:

And Mary and Jack are still gone, and now they've got catch with them, and so.

Speaker B:

And then we got.

Speaker A:

How are we gonna find.

Speaker A:

Find Gabriel?

Speaker A:

But heaven's now closed.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And they have no angel support.

Speaker B:

I mean, dang, that's a lot.

Speaker B:

And where the Lucifer, if he's not in heaven, which is not also great for him to be in heaven, but at least we knew where the hell he was.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Now we don't know that.

Speaker A:

Oh, we don't know that.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, there's a lot to go.

Speaker B:

But Rowena's gonna help, so I guess that's good.

Speaker A:

I guess so.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, I think that.

Speaker B:

I think I'm excited to see where.

Speaker B:

How we wrap this up, having her help.

Speaker B:

It'll be interesting.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I was excited that we're moving forward and.

Speaker A:

Yeah, again, I mean, happy Rowena was there.

Speaker A:

She looked great, and it was still.

Speaker A:

I think it was a fun episode, as most things.

Speaker A:

Not saying most episodes of Rita are, but, I mean, they managed to do, I think, something that was so emotional with her of this I'm, you know, dramatically fighting for.

Speaker A:

To restore the life of my son.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And she ends up kind of working through her grief in such a way that, you know, and.

Speaker A:

And, you know, weirdly grief in one episode.

Speaker A:

But, you know, it was.

Speaker A:

I think it was an interesting.

Speaker A:

An interesting lesson in grief and a very poignant giver the death scene of, you know, just everything.

Speaker A:

Everything ends, you know?

Speaker B:

Yep.

Speaker A:

But I liked it.

Speaker A:

All right, on that note, cheers.
