Speaker B:Where are my legs?
Speaker B:Let's do this.
Speaker B:Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.
Speaker B:I'm Diana.
Speaker A:I'm Liz.
Speaker B:And this week we're going to talk about season 13, episode 21, Beat the Devil.
Speaker A:Do you know that's not actually the title of a song?
Speaker A:Doesn't it sound like.
Speaker A:I mean, I was like, it's got to be a psychobilly song.
Speaker B:Like right.
Speaker A:This has to be something that.
Speaker C:And.
Speaker A:But no.
Speaker A:At least on first it was a movie.
Speaker A:It was, you know, I forgot who it started, but it was a movie in the 60s and it was a book, but it was not a song.
Speaker B:Huh.
Speaker B:Weird.
Speaker B:I would have thought it was for sure.
Speaker B:Oh yeah.
Speaker C:All right.
Speaker A:Today I learned or the title of title of an album or something.
Speaker B:But it's not interesting.
Speaker B:Huh.
Speaker B:Well, what have you been up to?
Speaker A:Oh, not a lot.
Speaker A:Still getting ready for performances that are coming up.
Speaker A:So teaching myself choreography by watching videos of children doing choreography is fun.
Speaker A:And watching the same song over and over again.
Speaker A:So now I kind of hate the song and I'm like, damn it, why did I pick this song?
Speaker A:But you know, it's hard that sometimes I still like, you know, I. I still think it's going to be a fun performance, but I should have known that if I picked a Taylor Swift song, haha, that.
Speaker A:That's not a joke.
Speaker A:That's really what I'm doing.
Speaker B:I know.
Speaker A:And so that I would probably get irritated with it at some point.
Speaker A:But there's a.
Speaker A:But my goodness.
Speaker A:There are a lot of people who have done different choreography to that song and then recorded themselves and put it on the Internet.
Speaker B:And then you can get inspo in.
Speaker A:Little dance studios like, and so like there's always dance studios with like, I don't guess everyone's just.
Speaker A:They're just recording it on their phone.
Speaker A:But it looks like like my favorite are like the dance studios where there'll be like kids who are choring inside the studio and then there will be glass doors and like all these other kids are like pressed up against there, like watching them do the dance.
Speaker A:It is.
Speaker A:It's a whole new, new world of.
Speaker A:Of it's kind of like watching Step it Up or you know, whatever, like dance movie it is live.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:That's fun.
Speaker A:I'm not saying that I'm.
Speaker A:And I'm not learning any of the dances that they're doing.
Speaker A:I'm like no, that is very too complicated.
Speaker A:So I'm really just.
Speaker A:Because I'm looking for hand motions I can do while I'm like hanging from different body parts.
Speaker A:And so, like, I know it'll just be like jazz hands and jazz hands and over there, jazz hands and spirit fingers.
Speaker A:You call the spirit finger.
Speaker B:Oh, man.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And went and saw Roz Hernandez who does the ghosted podcast.
Speaker A:And also I forget the haunted doll Living haunted.
Speaker A:I forget the name of her YouTube.
Speaker A:But really fun comedy sort of in our realm of worlds.
Speaker A:I mean, she does.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:I don't know, I don't explain it.
Speaker A:I mean, so like in her.
Speaker A:Her podcast basis is, you know, she goes on different ghost investigations.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And sometimes she goes with guys that she met on Grindr.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Which I think is.
Speaker A:Is a model for how, you know, you make you pick your ghost hunting investigation partners.
Speaker B:There you go.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:What about you?
Speaker B:Oh, I've been very busy.
Speaker B:But we are on the countdown to our car show like we do every year in Deep Ellen.
Speaker A:Oh, oh, oh.
Speaker A:Before.
Speaker A:But because it's before I forget.
Speaker A:And that we're doing things.
Speaker C:Yes.
Speaker A:We're going to be off next week.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Because Liz is doing stuff.
Speaker A:I was so not to interrupt you.
Speaker A:Sorry.
Speaker A:But I will forget.
Speaker A:If I don't ADHD brain will like says this has to be said.
Speaker A:Now we're taking next week off.
Speaker A:If you listen to this in real time, because I will.
Speaker A:I'm going on the Foggy Molly cruise and sometimes we just take days off.
Speaker A:So we'll be taking that week off.
Speaker A:So just sit up.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Now back to Diana's busy life.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:We're getting ready for our car show in Deep Ellum.
Speaker B:The invasion car show number 18 on Saturday, October 24th in Deep Ellum, free for spectators.
Speaker B:That's my quick update on that.
Speaker B:So that's a lot of work going into that and then.
Speaker B:But we did, babe and I got to go back to the car to the estate fair of Texas for one last hurrah and.
Speaker A:Well, one lasts her off for the season.
Speaker B:For the year.
Speaker B:For the year.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:The annual.
Speaker B:Well, it's a short.
Speaker B:It's only a three week thing, so you go when you can.
Speaker B:But yeah, so we did that and it was.
Speaker B:Or three and a half weeks.
Speaker B:But yeah, it was fun to go to the fair and we saw a very angry sheep and that was very entertaining.
Speaker A:It was a very funny sheep.
Speaker B:It was very funny.
Speaker B:He was pissed.
Speaker B:He just gotten groomed and he was not having it.
Speaker B:But yeah.
Speaker B:So it Was super crowded, but it was fun still.
Speaker B:I'm trying to think.
Speaker B:We got our cotton candy bacon and a cream espresso.
Speaker B:Oh, and pierogies with a dill pickle topping.
Speaker B:Fried.
Speaker B:They were really good.
Speaker B:So, yeah, we had fun.
Speaker A:That sounds delicious.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:Those were really good.
Speaker B:Now I want to make.
Speaker B:I want.
Speaker B:I've never tried to make a pierogi, but now I want to learn how to make them.
Speaker B:And I'm kind of embarrassed I've never made them, but I'm gonna look.
Speaker B:That's on my to do list this winter.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's something, you know, you need to think about in terms of assembly lines and that you want to make a lot of them at one time.
Speaker A:They're not a.
Speaker A:You know, you're.
Speaker A:You just gotta be prepared that you're making a batch of something.
Speaker B:Yes, but that's on my winter cooking to do list for myself now.
Speaker A:My.
Speaker B:My wish list to make.
Speaker C:But.
Speaker B:But yeah, we just.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Do them around the holidays, and then you can take the.
Speaker B:Take them over to share them with people.
Speaker B:Because I don't have a mountain of them in my house for two people.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:But, yeah, that's just keeping very busy.
Speaker B:My.
Speaker B:It says it's what we call rocktober in entertainment and music business for touring.
Speaker B:And so it's a very busy season.
Speaker B:And mine's extra busy for a lot of other reasons.
Speaker B:And I'm just smiling, and we're gonna make everything happen, and it's gonna be awesome.
Speaker B:And that's what I got.
Speaker B:So we're gonna do this episode.
Speaker B:There we go.
Speaker B:Everything's fine.
Speaker B:Everything's fine.
Speaker A:We're also getting ready for the Supernatural convention at Austin.
Speaker A:That's coming up really fast.
Speaker A:Oh, and that also reminds me, I did release another book.
Speaker B:You did.
Speaker A:So you can get Vol.
Speaker A:Of Lauren Moore on Amazon or wherever fine books are sold on the Internet.
Speaker A:You can get it in epub or you can get it in a Kindle version, which I just got a royalty payment for today, which feels like a paycheck.
Speaker A:I didn't look to see how much it was.
Speaker A:I was just like, we're just gonna put.
Speaker A:Let that dollar go into.
Speaker A:Or whatever it is.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:It's just, like, going, like, they don't put the number in your notification.
Speaker A:They just say your.
Speaker A:Your royalty payment's been going.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But it's nice to see the royalty payment so highly.
Speaker A:So that's what happens if you're, like, reading, like, Kindle Unlimited.
Speaker A:Like, we get, like, authors get paid by, like, how many like, pages people read, I guess.
Speaker B:Nice.
Speaker A:It's an interesting thing that you don't really think about, like.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, just kind of.
Speaker B:It's like.
Speaker B:It's like the equivalent of a stream for like a kind of.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Like streaming for a book, which is an interesting way to do it.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So the book's out.
Speaker B:So I think the links on our Instagram.
Speaker A:But yeah, if.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's also.
Speaker A:You can go to our link tree.
Speaker A:If you go to our link tree, then which Lincoln bio.
Speaker A:You can get to my.
Speaker A:My author page from there and.
Speaker A:Or just search Lauren Moore on.
Speaker A:On Amazon or anywhere it'll take you there.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:There aren't that many things called lore.
Speaker A:Surprisingly, my niche market.
Speaker A:Okay, so we're gonna talk about Beat the Devil.
Speaker A:And this was season 13, episode 21.
Speaker A: ,: Speaker A:I can't say your last name.
Speaker A:Scritchia Scratchia.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker A:This season, he did Lost and Found, he did the Bad Place, and he did Wayward Sisters, which makes sense when we see that this was written by Robert Barrons, who, you know, helped produce Wayward Sisters with Andrew Dabb and wrote that.
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:But he also wrote the Bad Place that Phil did, and he did Patience as well this season.
Speaker A:So in our recap, Lucifer is gonna find Jack and combine their powers.
Speaker A:Rowena and Sam have both seen Lucifer's true face, and it's scary as hell.
Speaker A:Gabriel's grace is low.
Speaker A:Jack and Mary aren't with my notes say Mary, but that's not the word.
Speaker A:That's not.
Speaker A:No, that's not.
Speaker A:Jack and Mary aren't with someone.
Speaker A:And Cass wants to assemble their allies, and that includes Rowena.
Speaker A:And Gabriel is now going to help them.
Speaker A:Sam's really dark pep talk about them dying together, which is how that last one ended.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:And then we're going to go to the bunker.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:And we've got.
Speaker B:Castiel and Jack are sitting at the table, at our map table that we all love, watching Dean take his seventh slice of pizza.
Speaker B:And then they scroll.
Speaker B:And I'm like, wait, what?
Speaker B:And they're.
Speaker B:They're scrolling.
Speaker B:Not scrolling, they're panning.
Speaker B:And we also see that Mary's there, and she makes a joke about how Dean's nickname was their little piglet from.
Speaker B:Because he liked to eat a lot.
Speaker B:And she's cleaning up plates while Dean gets another slice of pizza.
Speaker B:And Sam goes to help Mary, and we're all like, what the fuck?
Speaker A:Imagine a pizza that's so good that I Want to eat seven slices of it?
Speaker A:I think I've just been disappointed by pizza lately.
Speaker A:And I'm really, like, looking for that.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Good one.
Speaker A:And so, like, to have, like, not just, you know.
Speaker A:Dean.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's a.
Speaker A:You're a piglet.
Speaker B:But that's a lot of.
Speaker A:To not get tired of.
Speaker A:Like, to not get tired of it.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Well, I mean, it also depends.
Speaker B:It did not look like thin crust.
Speaker B:And so, like.
Speaker B:Like an ultra thin crust.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:No, if you can eat.
Speaker A:If it's a.
Speaker A:If it's thin crust, you eat seven pieces of that.
Speaker A:Because that's not a slice.
Speaker A:That's a piece.
Speaker A:And that's a different.
Speaker B:Like a flatbread, almost.
Speaker B:Like, that doesn't even count.
Speaker A:But, like, even count.
Speaker A:But no, he's.
Speaker A:Seven solid slices.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's real.
Speaker B:That's the real deal.
Speaker A:Now that's Little Caesars.
Speaker A:And that would be.
Speaker A:That would be a piece.
Speaker B:Little Caesars.
Speaker A:Oh, gosh.
Speaker B:I mean, okay.
Speaker B:Every once in a while I get Little Caesars just so I can get the garlic butter sauce.
Speaker B:I'm not going to lie.
Speaker B:And some crazy bread.
Speaker B:Anyways, yeah.
Speaker A:The only reason that I want Little Caesars is because my parents hated it, so we never got it.
Speaker A:So it's a.
Speaker A:It's a forbidden thing.
Speaker A:I used to love when I was babysitting, you know, like, when I was a teenager and, like, people were letting me wash your children.
Speaker A:And, like, I'd be so happy when, like, I was like, yeah.
Speaker A:Because I would get, like.
Speaker A:The kids would have, like, Nintendo and Little Caesar's pizza.
Speaker A:And I'd be like, you're like, this.
Speaker B:Is the best night ever.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:All right, so back to Supernatural.
Speaker A:Anyways, so Sam is just, like.
Speaker A:Is helping Mary clean the table.
Speaker A:And he asked Mary how she's doing, how it was over there.
Speaker A:And she says it was hard, but she always knew that you and Dean would come and save us.
Speaker A:Sam.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:She just starts saying his name over and over again, and it syncs up with his alarm clock because it was all a dream.
Speaker B:So Sam is having a dream, but.
Speaker A:Also in his dreams, like, you kind of.
Speaker A:Like, you think highly of yourself, but, you know, like, it's pretty.
Speaker A:It's a nice, positive dream.
Speaker A:Like, I have.
Speaker A:My dreams are all, like, full of anxiety and.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And, like, in Sam's dream, like, he's one.
Speaker B:He.
Speaker A:Like, Mary has.
Speaker A:Like, Mary and Jack have come home, and she's like, I always knew that you were gonna come save us.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:Like, I think this is.
Speaker A:I think that's just really interesting that he, like, has that positive of a dream.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's true.
Speaker B:Especially given all the they face.
Speaker A:Especially just after that dark.
Speaker A:We're gonna die together.
Speaker A:Po pep talk.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:He must have been doing a lot of affirmations before bed.
Speaker A:Possibly.
Speaker B:So we see now Rowena ritual.
Speaker B:Rowena and Sam and Dean are sorting all the ingredients for the spell to open the rift.
Speaker B:And also getting guns ready.
Speaker B:Castiel comes in and shares that Gabrielle.
Speaker B:Gabriel.
Speaker B:Gabriel wanted to extract his own grace in privacy, and he's going to do that in Dean's room.
Speaker B:And Dean is icked out because it's Gabriel alone in this room.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And they just made it all very sexual.
Speaker A:It's all very sexualized.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And so Rowena brings up the fact again that they only get 24 hours over there.
Speaker A:And it's not a long time for such a big world when you don't know where they are, but they don't have any other ideas.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So Gabriel comes in with his tiny, tiny mouth of archangel grace.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:The vial is not full.
Speaker B:Let's just say that.
Speaker B:And he's ensure that it's more than enough, though.
Speaker B:And so Rowena's like, okay, we're gonna do this thing.
Speaker B:And she does the spell and the rift opens.
Speaker B:And Sam and Dean and Cass and Gabriel are all gonna go through the rift.
Speaker B:And the rift starts flickering and I don't know what word you would use for it.
Speaker A:It deflates.
Speaker B:It does.
Speaker A:It deflates like.
Speaker A:Like it drank a bunch of whiskey.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And we start getting a lot of innuendo comments about how fast or premature this was.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So Cass is like, okay, you know what?
Speaker B:We know one.
Speaker B:We know there's only, you know, one other.
Speaker B:We need the.
Speaker B:We know that Gabriel needs time to recover.
Speaker B:We know one other place to get archangel grace on earth.
Speaker B:Let's go.
Speaker B:Let's fucking go.
Speaker B:We need Lucifer.
Speaker B:So Sam and Dean and Cascus have a side convo in the kitchen about this.
Speaker B:And Sam is like, no, I don't want to work with Lucifer, period.
Speaker B:It always goes badly.
Speaker B:And Cass is like, I hear you.
Speaker B:However, Lucifer is kind of our responsibility and our fucking fault, not wrong.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I don't understand why they had to have this conversation by themselves.
Speaker B:Yeah, I don't either.
Speaker B:But it does set up for a fun scene where Gabriel is reading a book about laying pipe.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker B:And he is clearly making comments to allude to the fact that he is insecure about the performance of his archangel Grace.
Speaker B:And Rowena is like, no, no, you don't need to make excuses.
Speaker B:Excuses.
Speaker B:And he's trying to hint that maybe it was her fault that the spell didn't work.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker A:And she comes back that a drunk 6 year old could exercise at magic.
Speaker A:And I have questions about What a drunk 6 year old is doing with magic.
Speaker B:But why is a six year old drunk?
Speaker B:Why is.
Speaker A:Yes, there's many questions if that raises.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But she swears though that it wasn't the spellcaster and it wasn't the spell, it was the ingredients.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Gabriel's like, how long are they gonna take talking in the kitchen?
Speaker B:And she references their bro hugs, pep talks and melodrama.
Speaker B:So basically they're going to take a while.
Speaker B:And then we realize that they are checking each other out.
Speaker B:And we hear the internal monologue from each of them where Rowena is checking out Gabriel's cute tush and he's checking out Rowena and talks about her being tiny and angry.
Speaker B:And he likes that with her milky white skin and her dancer's body.
Speaker A:And how she's flexible.
Speaker A:And so then there's just like a bunch of innuendo and there's some sexy saxophone and then there's some eye contact.
Speaker A:But we.
Speaker A:Then we cut to Dean in Sam being moody.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Sam's like a fine.
Speaker B:You're right.
Speaker B:Lucifer's our only choice.
Speaker B:And Dean's like, you know, it's gonna be really hard to find Jack and Mary in Apocalypse World in a night, in just a day.
Speaker B:We've got to figure we got.
Speaker B:We still have to think about that.
Speaker B:And Sam's like idea.
Speaker B:Ta da.
Speaker B:So they decide to go to share Sam's idea and the new plan with Rowena and Gabriel who are banging it out behind the books.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Is that.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:I guess we'll go.
Speaker B:They're reading.
Speaker B:Excuse me?
Speaker B:They're reading.
Speaker B:They're reading.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So they get interrupted.
Speaker B:And the looks on the faces of Sam and Dean and Castiel are pretty good.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:You may want to sanitize that.
Speaker A:That area over there.
Speaker A:So we go from.
Speaker A:From there.
Speaker A:So Sam's got a plan.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:And we're gonna go from there to a bar where Lucifer is at.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Joe's Town Pub.
Speaker B:Where Lucifer is drinking from the liquor bottle.
Speaker B:Is that legal in any state in a bar?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Anyways, it's not in Texas.
Speaker B:For the record.
Speaker B:You can't drinking from the liquor bottle in a bar.
Speaker A:It's in.
Speaker A:It's not Sanitary?
Speaker B:Well, that, too.
Speaker B:It's icky.
Speaker B:But, I mean, he's finishing the bottle, too, but.
Speaker B:And he's talking about how he barely gets a buzz and how he had Heaven and Hell in the palm of his hand, but nothing matters.
Speaker B:The only thing that ever mattered was his son and that he had a son, and that's it.
Speaker B:And he just.
Speaker B:You know, he used to be able to sense his son on Earth, but now he can't anymore.
Speaker B:And he's just sure that his of a mother poisoned him against me.
Speaker B:And the bartender is like, oh, I'm sure things with Jack will.
Speaker B:You know, I'm sure things will work out, and Jack will come around.
Speaker B:And then this gets Lucifer's attention because he's like, I never told you my son's name.
Speaker B:And the bartender's like, oh, are you sure about that?
Speaker B:And then we realize that the bartender is not a random bartender, but it is Gabriel.
Speaker B:And what's fun is Lucifer is wasted, and he's not supposed to be able.
Speaker A:To get wasted, and that's because his drink was spiked with a magical roofie.
Speaker A:And the bartender.
Speaker A:So Gabriel, as that bartender, he's now in that generic rockabilly shirt, which looks really good on him for some reason.
Speaker A:I was just like.
Speaker A:I was like, oh, it's a good look for you.
Speaker A:You should go with that style.
Speaker A:So Lucifer tries to punch him, and he fails, and he runs outside, but he.
Speaker A:Then he just keeps going into the stairs.
Speaker A:Same bar, because Gabriel's got his trickster tricks up.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And we've got Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin playing in the background.
Speaker B:But now Rowena is there, and she is all just a little smug, sharing all the ingredients for her magical roofie that they have drugged him with.
Speaker B:And now Lucifer just laughs because now he's mused that two people that he killed are there and have trapped him.
Speaker B:And she magically kind of like, yeah.
Speaker A:He was like, I killed you, too.
Speaker A:Was kind of funny when she.
Speaker A:When she walked.
Speaker A:And I did appreciate that.
Speaker B:And so she magically handcuffs him, and Gabriel has the archangel Blade.
Speaker B:And so we now have Lucifer getting emotional and wants to be put out of his misery, is what he says.
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so they just.
Speaker A:They just bonk him on the head.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:They're just like, okay, whatever.
Speaker A:We don't know what to deal with this.
Speaker A:Those were just.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So we go back to the bunker where Rowena is mixing out spell ingredients.
Speaker A:So we're just gonna go.
Speaker A:We're ready to go.
Speaker A:And pretty much the entire crew that is still on earth, is now in this room.
Speaker A:Like, we've got, like, it seems like the entire cast is supernatural now in this room.
Speaker A:And Lucifer comments on, like, how he likes to torture all of them.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:And then he has figured out that they want his Grace to go save Mary because he doesn't.
Speaker B:As we know as the viewers.
Speaker B:But he does not know that Jack is over there, too.
Speaker B:And so Castiel, like, so he's kind of, like, hangs up and, like, tilted over forward, and they put the bowl in front of him, and Lucifer cuts.
Speaker B:Or loser Cassio cuts Lucifer's neck to just have him, like, slow drip into this bowl.
Speaker B:That's kind of dark.
Speaker B:I mean, not that anything else isn't dark.
Speaker B:That's kind of dark, Right?
Speaker A:Also just, like, weird.
Speaker A:The.
Speaker A:The Grace Cannon.
Speaker A:So weird.
Speaker A:Like, what works and what doesn't.
Speaker A:What doesn't need to be replenished.
Speaker A:Like, what can drain.
Speaker A:Yeah, but Sam's like, this was my magical solution, Right?
Speaker A:We needed more time in the other world.
Speaker A:And we're just not going to use you just to crack the door open, but we're going to use you to keep the door open.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:And when they get back, Fen will kill you.
Speaker A:You know?
Speaker A:Like, why do you tell him that?
Speaker A:Because it never happens.
Speaker A:But, yeah, then they all go into the rift with very determined faces while Rowena watches over the Lucifer.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:And so when.
Speaker B:As Sam, Dean, Cass, and Gabriel fall down a hill and Gabriel lands with his face in Castiel's lap.
Speaker B:And it's pretty funny.
Speaker A:Romancing the stone.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:And Dean's like, okay, y' all Charlie or Apocalypse World?
Speaker B:Charlie told me that Jack and Mary have an outpost in Dayton, Ohio.
Speaker B:And then Castiel can just, like, sense where they are.
Speaker B:Like, he just, like, stands there and thinks real hard, and he's like, we are in northeast Kentucky.
Speaker B:I didn't.
Speaker B:I didn't really know he could do that.
Speaker A:Yeah, some kind of weird GPS system that we now know he has angel gps.
Speaker B:I mean, what is this?
Speaker A:Well, Dean also knows that northeast Kentucky is two days from Dayton, Ohio, on foot.
Speaker A:How the do you know that?
Speaker B:That's a pretty random fact, too.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So they are going to go north back at the bunker.
Speaker B:Lucifer, of course, is gonna start talking to Rowena, because of course he is.
Speaker B:He's Lucifer.
Speaker B:He can't not monologue.
Speaker B:He can't help himself.
Speaker B:Yeah, but he does.
Speaker B:And so he's trying to, you know, bait her with talking about, like, how they left her behind because she's a woman and she's just like, yeah, that's.
Speaker B:That's not really gonna work.
Speaker B:Sorry.
Speaker B:And so he starts singing.
Speaker B:Camptown Race is really loud, which would be very annoying.
Speaker A:It would be.
Speaker A:And I think like, he knows how to be annoying very well.
Speaker A:He does.
Speaker B:He's very good at that.
Speaker A:He's very good.
Speaker A:So we cut back to Apocalypse World and Cass is just now being like, hey, hey, Gabriel.
Speaker A:You know, so have you thought about what's gonna happen when you get back to earth after we're done with this?
Speaker A:You know, like, just, do you got any plans?
Speaker A:And Gabriel's just like, yo, you know, I've been checking things off my bucket list.
Speaker A:I got some revenge.
Speaker A:I got some sex with a 300 year old road redhead.
Speaker A:And then Cass is like, so heaven's dying.
Speaker B:Yeah, fun fact.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I'm just gonna drop this little nugget right here.
Speaker B:Heaven's dying.
Speaker B:And he's like, what do you think I have to do with that?
Speaker B:Do you think I could fix it?
Speaker B:They don't want me.
Speaker B:I'm a screw up.
Speaker B:And cast those point out that a lot of well intentioned, you know, upstanding angels have kind of heaven up.
Speaker B:So maybe they need a screw up like him.
Speaker B:So food for thought, Gabriel.
Speaker B:And then Dean is like, hey, Sam, you seem like a little bit different.
Speaker B:Like you're lighter and happier.
Speaker B:Which is weird because we're in a Apocalypse World.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, yeah, you know, because we actually like are on a path forward.
Speaker B:And I'm happy about that.
Speaker B:And I probably.
Speaker B:And probably because he had a nice dream the night before.
Speaker A:He had a good positive dream.
Speaker A:He had some good rested sleep.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And then we hear screams.
Speaker B:Because of course then we hear screams.
Speaker B:And so they, Sam and Dean, behead this creature, that.
Speaker B:And save this couple.
Speaker B:And they ask what that creature is and they say it is a vampire.
Speaker B:But it doesn't look like vampires that they're used to seeing.
Speaker A:So it's not.
Speaker A:It's not like any vamps that they have ever seen before.
Speaker A:And I don't think it looks that different.
Speaker A:But they say that this is what happens when you starve a vampire.
Speaker A:And we're going to talk about some other vampires that you might not have seen before.
Speaker A:And this is lore.
Speaker A:Is, you know, it's season 13 and we got to talk about vampires.
Speaker A:So we're gonna talk about some other.
Speaker A:Like this is also interesting.
Speaker A:There are just many types of vampires in the world, right?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And this one is a supernatural creature from the Philippines that's often categorized as a Vampire creature, because vampire creatures suck blood, Right?
Speaker A:And this is the monanongo.
Speaker A:And so I'm gonna spell this.
Speaker A:No, I'm not gonna spell it out for you, but it's.
Speaker A:I will.
Speaker A:If you're watching on the YouTube, go watch YouTube.
Speaker A:I'll flash it up on the screen so you can see how it's spelled.
Speaker A:So hopefully I will say it right.
Speaker A:I. I practice.
Speaker A:I had people.
Speaker A:People teach me, and I repeated it back to them, but that was, like, a week ago.
Speaker A:And then I watched YouTube videos where they said it, so hopefully, I will not be butchering it the entire time.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:They're also categorized as a general term used to describe various evil and malevolent shape sh.
Speaker A:In Filipino folklore, such as vampires, ghouls, witches, suckers in transforming human beast hybrids, usually cats, dogs, or pigs.
Speaker A:So the.
Speaker A:These are also known as a Tagalog from Tangal, which translates to detach or to remove, because this describes the creature's ability to separate its body at the waist case.
Speaker A:So the mononoid.
Speaker A:God damn it.
Speaker A:Monon.
Speaker A:I'm gonna say it as a little kid.
Speaker A:Monongagal is typically female, and during the day, it looks like a normal person, usually an attractive person.
Speaker A:At sunset, she grows giant bat wings, and her top half flies off her lower half, which stays upright until the two halves reunite.
Speaker A:And then, as she's flying around, her entrails and her viscera are just, like, hanging out from, like, her top half.
Speaker A:Whoa.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So the lower half, though, is really vulnerable during this time.
Speaker A:And it just doesn't do anything.
Speaker A:It's just a standstill.
Speaker A:And it's usually hidden among banana trunks, where it blends in.
Speaker A:And the creature feeds with a hollow, super thin tongue, so thin it can slip through a roof thatch to suck blood from its victims.
Speaker B:Whoa.
Speaker A:In some stories, desired food is the liver, the heart, the phlegm of the.
Speaker B:Sick,.
Speaker A:Or the unborn child of a woman about to give birth.
Speaker A:I don't know why the phlegm of the sick grosses me out more than, you know, the.
Speaker A:Than.
Speaker A:We'll just say the eating a liver, but it does so.
Speaker A:But pregnant women and unborn fetuses are his favorite food sources.
Speaker A:Some versions cite the victims also just to be the general sleeping population.
Speaker A:You.
Speaker A:You can hear the monogam.
Speaker A:You can hear it coming.
Speaker A:You can hear it coming from the tick, tick sound it makes as it moves across rooftops.
Speaker A:And the louder it is, the further away it is.
Speaker A:So when it gets quiet, that's when you usually get scared.
Speaker B:Like a.
Speaker B:Like a Tornado.
Speaker B:Isn't that like a.
Speaker B:Or like right before a tornado or a hurricane?
Speaker B:Like, it's like it's real quiet when everything is quiet.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So this is my favorite version of how to become a mon angle.
Speaker A:There is an egg with a black chicken side.
Speaker A:The would be mononongal applies an ointment to their body while reciting an incantation, then places the egg in their armpit until it absorbed into the body, where the chick feeds on.
Speaker A:On the host until the host dies, and then it gets passed on to the next.
Speaker A:The next monon.
Speaker A:Goal.
Speaker A:Now they don't lay an egg.
Speaker A:Instead, they pass it from mouth to mouth to their successor.
Speaker A:So I'm assuming there's at least some form of regurgitation.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:This feels very bird like, right.
Speaker A:If you're going from mouth to mouth, you know, so if the transfer.
Speaker A:Maybe bird feed, you know, but so the transfer doesn't occur.
Speaker A:The line does die out.
Speaker A:In some traditions, expelling the chick from the host through a combination of prayer, herbal preparations, and the intervention of a mononambo, a folk healer, or a Catholic priest can reverse the transformation.
Speaker A:As I said earlier, the lower half is the most vulnerable part.
Speaker A:So if you want to hurt one, that's your best bet to go for.
Speaker A:Once you find the lower half, the exposed waste should be covered in salt, ash, vinegar, crushed garlic, ground spices, and or holy water.
Speaker A:So you don't have to have all of those things.
Speaker A:Maybe one, some of those.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:I think, like, mustard works too.
Speaker A:I don't know why I'm reading that, but so if you have to deal with.
Speaker A:I'm just like, maybe I just want a hot dog right now.
Speaker A:I'm just like, you just put some garlic on there and then some, you know, some relish.
Speaker A:So if you do have to deal with the more dangerous flying upper torso, a stingray's tail made into a whip is an effective weapon.
Speaker A:Oh, I really hope the tails just come off and you don't, like, have to hurt the sting away.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I'm just assuming it's like a lizard.
Speaker B:And it just, like, it falls off.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I'm not gonna pull a stingray tail.
Speaker C:No.
Speaker A:So to prevent entry into the house, many people put garlic at their windows, which is, you know, again, to the vampire lore.
Speaker A:Interesting.
Speaker B:Vampire.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So it's possible that this myth was developed to deter against night activities or to explain sudden illnesses or death, particularly among pregnant women or infants.
Speaker A:The mythology likely evolved when the Spanish colonized the island in the 60s, 16th century, bringing within the European supernatural entities, including witches and demons.
Speaker A:The colonial religious teachings likely reinforced the idea that the Mononongo was an evil demonic entity.
Speaker A:The abilities became associated with witchcraft, black magic, and demonic powers.
Speaker A:And the victimology of the pregnant and the infants could be linked to fears of being unbaptized and thus being outside of the church's protection.
Speaker A:Suspicion of being a mononongal often falls on unmarried women who keep to themselves or any neighbor whose behavior becomes withdrawn.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, oh, dear.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But this has led to many people being socially ostracized or becoming victims of violence within small rural communities.
Speaker A:Something which folklorists have compared to European witch panic dynamics.
Speaker A:The person that I was hearing.
Speaker A:I was hearing of a story of somebody who believes this happened in their village.
Speaker A:That was.
Speaker A:That somebody was.
Speaker A:Was cursing that.
Speaker A:That a mononongo was.
Speaker A:Was going after their grandmother.
Speaker A:And so she said that her dad.
Speaker A:And they went and they put garlic all around.
Speaker A:Garlic and salt all around the person's house that they thought was the.
Speaker A:The Maranangle and that.
Speaker A:That it worked.
Speaker A:I don't know what happened, like, but I think there was weird village dynamics that ended up happening.
Speaker A:But anyways.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Because as this is still a very popular thing in the Philippines, and due in part to.
Speaker A: ver Filipino horror film from: Speaker A:And in it, the creature did bisect at the torso.
Speaker B:Crazy.
Speaker B:In.
Speaker A: In the: Speaker B:There's just, like, legs standing and a bunch of bananas.
Speaker A:There's just legs standing there.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:I'm still processing that.
Speaker B:I thought that's what I was like.
Speaker A:Cut off at the waist.
Speaker A:It's just cut off at the waist.
Speaker A:Like, just bicep.
Speaker B:Your innards show and innards sticking out.
Speaker A:Just the innards are coming from your top part.
Speaker A:Right, Right.
Speaker A:So, like, you, like, think, like, you pull off, like, you at the ribs, probably, and then, like, your guts just kind of, like, swing around.
Speaker B:Yeah, but there's still some guts in your body.
Speaker B:Like your.
Speaker B:Inside.
Speaker A:There's still some guts.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Like, probably like your lower end.
Speaker A:I don't like chilling there exposed.
Speaker B:Just exposed, hanging out.
Speaker A:And that's why it's dangerous.
Speaker A:That's why you have.
Speaker A:It has to go.
Speaker A:Hide in the banana chunks.
Speaker B:So weird.
Speaker B:No, not that their myth is weird.
Speaker B:It's just weird to envision.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A: So in the: Speaker A:And this is what you just said that.
Speaker A:So there's a coffee table book released by Canvas titled Where are my Legs?
Speaker B:Love it.
Speaker A:So fresh meat.
Speaker A: In: Speaker A:And so the characters end up using a stingray whip ambulance covered with spices to kill the creature.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A: ovel Melania, Devourer of Men: Speaker A:The novel has been discussed on several podcasts.
Speaker A: In: Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker A:Wild.
Speaker A: Marikit was released in March: Speaker A:25.
Speaker A:And it is amazeballs.
Speaker A:It also bisects.
Speaker A:It's just beautiful.
Speaker A:And it's sold out.
Speaker A:I think you can find it on ebay.
Speaker A:But it's just.
Speaker A:It's so cool.
Speaker A:It's very well done.
Speaker A:Most recently, though, DreamWorks released an animated feature film called Forbidden island, which features a mononongo named Manang, played by Leia Sawanga, who is, if you don't know she, a Broadway star.
Speaker A:She was in Miss Saigon.
Speaker A:She was Miss Saigon.
Speaker A:She was in Les Miserables.
Speaker A:Like, she was a very 90s.
Speaker A:Like, if you were a 90s theater kid like that.
Speaker A:She was the.
Speaker A:But she's still the.
Speaker A:And so she plays, like, the villain in this.
Speaker A:And it looks like a really good animated film and looks like in there, it's all about, like, these two best friends that go to, like, the Forbidden island, and they're like.
Speaker A:It's all about these relationships.
Speaker A:And just, like, watching the featurettes, I'm already crying.
Speaker A:I'm like, oh, my God.
Speaker C:They.
Speaker A:This is so.
Speaker B:I was.
Speaker A:And so emotional.
Speaker A:Like, oh, no, I can't.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I'm gonna wait till this movie.
Speaker A:I gotta watch this movie at home.
Speaker A:Even though it.
Speaker A:The.
Speaker A:The animation, they did, like, a bunch of different styles of animation in it, so everything from anime to, like, like, different styles.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so it looks really.
Speaker A:It looks really cool.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:And so I'm sure it'd be great on the big screen, but I just.
Speaker A:I hate crying in public, so.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Fair.
Speaker A:So that is a monologle.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So a.
Speaker A:A different kind of vampire monongle.
Speaker B:Where are my legs?
Speaker A:Where are my legs?
Speaker A:That was like, I saw that I was looking through the list of things.
Speaker A:I was like, that is the best thing.
Speaker B:It's amazing.
Speaker A:All right, so we're gonna go back to talking about vampires that aren't like other vampires.
Speaker A:Because when Michael took out the humans, they didn't think about what would happen when the monster's food source dried up.
Speaker B:Up.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So this is what happens when vampires starve.
Speaker B:They change into.
Speaker B:And I guess the difference is, like, they look a lot like the vampires we've seen as far as, like, their teeth go, but they're bald and they have pointy ear.
Speaker B:Pointier ears.
Speaker B:I think that's the big change.
Speaker A:They remind me.
Speaker A:They look kind of.
Speaker A:They look a little more Nosferatu and, you know, kind of that.
Speaker A:Or maybe bat boy, some of the vampires and Buffy.
Speaker A:Like, some of those.
Speaker A:The gentleman type kind of things, you know?
Speaker B:So, like, the old vampires would.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, so.
Speaker A:But they're apparently also.
Speaker A:They're just very angry.
Speaker A:Yeah, they're hangry.
Speaker A:They are hangry.
Speaker A:Vampires.
Speaker B:Hangry.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So our.
Speaker B:Our couple, Maggie and Floyd and I'll try to remember their names.
Speaker B:They basically say, like, yeah, we were going to date.
Speaker B:Y' all are going to Dayton.
Speaker B:Because we were going to Dayton, too.
Speaker B:But the only.
Speaker B:The fastest way to Dayton is through this tunnel, and it's full of vampires, and it killed seven of our.
Speaker B:Of our friends while we tried to go through there.
Speaker B:So we're gonna go this long way.
Speaker B:This is Mountain Pass.
Speaker B:It's gonna take way longer.
Speaker A:I do wonder, like, is it just an apocalypse land where there are tunnels that go from, like, Kentucky to Ohio, or do those exist in, like, normal life?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:It seems like a very random thing.
Speaker A:It seems like a random thing to have, but also kind of seems useful.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:Convenient.
Speaker B:Convenient.
Speaker B:And Gabriel's like, we're gonna go the Safeway on the mountain pass.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, nope, no time.
Speaker B:We're gonna protect everybody.
Speaker B:We're going through the tunnel.
Speaker B:So, of course, duh, they're gonna go through the tunnel full of vampires.
Speaker B:And so from there, we cut back to the bunker where Lucifer is still singing.
Speaker C:And.
Speaker A:And that when that doesn't work, though, he starts finding other ways to poke our little Rowena's buttons.
Speaker A:And he brings up burning her up and choking her.
Speaker A:And then he makes her, like, start in about how the boys are over there rescuing Jack, and she cracks.
Speaker B:And that she cracks finally and tells him that they're also getting Jack.
Speaker B:And that's when.
Speaker B:And that.
Speaker B:And that basically that Jack considers Them more of their father than it does Lucifer.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And unfortunately, what this does is it Maisie pisses Lucifer off and he breaks through the hand his magical handcuffs.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:He gets rage.
Speaker B:He gets rage strength.
Speaker A:He does.
Speaker A:And he chokes Rowena up against the wall.
Speaker B:Yeah, not good.
Speaker B:Not good because she just gave him something to fight for.
Speaker B:He was given up and he didn't give a fuck anymore.
Speaker B:And now he's upset.
Speaker B:And so he is going to choke her out, but instead she's able to use a little bit of magic to fling him off of her, but flings him directly into the rift.
Speaker A:Oops.
Speaker A:Which I don't know, is a good thing or a bad thing, right?
Speaker A:Like, is.
Speaker A:Is this.
Speaker A:It's better for Rowena?
Speaker A:Maybe.
Speaker A:I'm not sure.
Speaker A:We also don't know.
Speaker A:We don't know what this means for how the rift life works.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You know, well, we know that now there's not a fuel for it, so it's not going to last as long.
Speaker B:We know that.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker A:There was still stuff in the bowl.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:But we don't know, like, is this longer than 24 hours?
Speaker B:Like, I don't know from now, I'm not sure.
Speaker A:And so Rowena starts to do what's best for her.
Speaker B:Well, my question too here is.
Speaker B:So they said it was a two day walk, and we don't really have clarity on how long they've been gone or how long have they been walking.
Speaker B:Did that mean he's saying Camptown races for at least a full day?
Speaker B:Probably, based on the timeline that we're about to catch up to in the story.
Speaker B:That's wild.
Speaker B:That poor woman.
Speaker B:I kind of don't blame her for cracking then.
Speaker B:Yeah, at first I was like, damn it, Rowena.
Speaker B:And I'm like, well, if he's in Camptown racist for a full day, I don't know.
Speaker B:I might get snap too.
Speaker A:At what point don't you learn a spell to mute him?
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:That's a great question.
Speaker B:I did kind of wonder that, like, why, like, she's tolerating all this, but I don't know.
Speaker B:Would that affect the dripping of the grace?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:So she starts to do what's going to be best for her, which is to leave, but she just can't.
Speaker A:She can't do it.
Speaker B:Yeah, she.
Speaker B:Her catchphrase here and twice in this scene is bullocks, bullocks.
Speaker A:And so we go from there back to Apocalypse World where they have all geared up to go into the tunnel.
Speaker B:With glow sticks, too.
Speaker A:With glow Sticks.
Speaker B:So inside this tunnel we've got.
Speaker B:We start getting like, you know, kind of one off vamp attacks on them.
Speaker B:And it's.
Speaker B:It's scary.
Speaker B:It's dark.
Speaker B:And the vampires are sneaky.
Speaker B:And then they get to this cave and has like a pool and a little, like a shaft of light.
Speaker B:And so there's a.
Speaker B:The passage is blocked.
Speaker B:So they're gonna, like, I guess, use the angel strength of Castiel and Gabriel to just like.
Speaker B:Hey, can you guys just move these rocks?
Speaker B:They're like picking up boulders.
Speaker B:No, like, nothing.
Speaker B:It's entertaining.
Speaker B:It's just things you forget.
Speaker B:Like that.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:Their angels are strong.
Speaker A:They can do that.
Speaker A:You just use them for manual labor.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:But then we get a massive vampire attack.
Speaker B:And there's a big vampire fight.
Speaker B:And they're all getting attacked by vampires.
Speaker B:And two get a hold of Sam and bite his neck.
Speaker B:And it spurts blood everywhere.
Speaker B:And he gets dragged away and he.
Speaker A:Gets taken off into a tunnel.
Speaker A:And Cass runs after him, but he can't find him.
Speaker A:And he hunts back and he just says that he's gone and they can't save him.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Dean.
Speaker A:Hi, Sam.
Speaker B:Very upset, obviously, because they just leave him.
Speaker B:They just leave.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker A:They do.
Speaker A:They leave him.
Speaker B:And they get out of the tunnel.
Speaker B:And Dean's walking and just getting flashbacks over and over again.
Speaker B:Watching Sam get his neck bit and getting dragged off.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's upsetting.
Speaker B:And we get a one shot of Sam looking dead.
Speaker B:Ish.
Speaker B:On the ground.
Speaker B:But he's got his.
Speaker B:Like his head on his backpack, like a pillow and a little bit of light wherever he's at.
Speaker B:So it's kind of weird.
Speaker A:He's dead.
Speaker A:This is.
Speaker A:He's done.
Speaker A:So this is the seventh time Sam has died.
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:But when they're walking outside the tunnel and Maggie is trying to comfort Dean, like, nobody's even mentioning that her.
Speaker A:Her.
Speaker A:Her friend is gone.
Speaker A:Like, he's like.
Speaker A:We've also lost that other guy.
Speaker B:Yeah, Floyd's gone.
Speaker B:And they also lost, like, their other friends.
Speaker B:And we saw some of their friends bodies, so that's probably not.
Speaker A:Yeah, and so someone should be, like, kind of nicer.
Speaker A:So outside, though.
Speaker A:All right, so we.
Speaker A:We get through the dead Sam thing.
Speaker A:We go back outside.
Speaker A:Maggie thinks that they're close to Dayton.
Speaker A:So they have been walking for two days.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker B:Like, how long is this all going on?
Speaker B:So then we see that maybe the.
Speaker A:Tunnel's got, like, a people mover in it.
Speaker A:Like the airport like the airport.
Speaker A:And that's why it's like the.
Speaker A:Closely.
Speaker B:The closest way to get the sidewalk moving.
Speaker B:Sidewalk tunnels.
Speaker B:Well, Cassiel is starting to have trouble because the warding of where they are entering is that strong.
Speaker B:And we see all these Sigils painted on these wood panels in the woods here.
Speaker B:So Gabriel's just like, man, I'm gonna go burn these up and puts his hand on it and they all like burn up and disappear.
Speaker A:And this is kind of rude.
Speaker B:I mean, is it?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's like if you go into the woods house and you turn off their alarm system for them, you know, like, kind of.
Speaker B:But now.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:But now the angels can't.
Speaker A:Like, they can just attack.
Speaker A:They can just attack this.
Speaker A:Like this.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker A:They just took the Sigils down.
Speaker B:That is a.
Speaker B:That is a definite side effect that he probably did not consider.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:But it also triggered apparently the human rebels who are now rolling up on them with guns drawn.
Speaker B:But who's with them but Mary.
Speaker B:And so Dean and Mary hog and she's smiling and Dean is not.
Speaker B:And she asks where Sam is.
Speaker B:And we get some real big tears from Dean.
Speaker B:That's very sad.
Speaker B:I don't like it.
Speaker A:Yeah, he just cries and cries and we go to the tunnel and Sam has come to and he feels his neck and.
Speaker A:And he's alive.
Speaker A:And you know why?
Speaker A:It's because of Lucifer.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Lucifer brought him back.
Speaker B:And Liz first just.
Speaker B:Lucifer's just such a dick.
Speaker B:Like.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I mean, I know he saved him, but he saved him and he's still a dick.
Speaker A:Like, what the.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker B:He starts to just talk immediately.
Speaker A:He's Lucifer.
Speaker B:I know, I know.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:And we find out that like also you know, in the let's case against grace Cannon.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:So Lucifer was running low on grace, but what he ended up doing was he found a bunch of Michael's angels and he ate them.
Speaker B:Yeah, he ate angels to get refueled.
Speaker B:But yeah, so.
Speaker B:And he fills salmon on how he got there.
Speaker B:But his.
Speaker B:Sam's like, what?
Speaker B:What do you want?
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:What do you want?
Speaker B:And Liz Fish didn't give his like cute little response, of course, an apology.
Speaker A:From Pop and you know, year.
Speaker B:You know, year round episodes of Drag Race.
Speaker B:And Sam's like, no, no, come on.
Speaker B:What the.
Speaker B:And so it's because Sam's gonna just leave.
Speaker B:He's like this.
Speaker B:I'm out.
Speaker B:But there's a wall of vampires that Lucifer is using his Lucifer strength to hold back.
Speaker B:So that doesn't really work.
Speaker B:So there we go.
Speaker B:So he kind of basically is like, look, let's not play this song and dance.
Speaker B:If you want to get out of here live, you're coming with me.
Speaker B:And here's what I want you to do.
Speaker B:I need to show my son.
Speaker B:I need to give my son a gift so that he doesn't reject me.
Speaker B:And the gift is, I saved your life.
Speaker B:That's it.
Speaker B:And Sam doesn't love this, but he doesn't have much of a choice.
Speaker B:And it's basically, you don't have to like it either.
Speaker B:You.
Speaker B:And she's like, you don't.
Speaker B:You don't have to like it, Sam.
Speaker B:You just have to acknowledge that I did it and that's it.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:And he's like, by the way, also, do you think.
Speaker B:Do you really think you guys can fight Michael's army without me?
Speaker B:So, come on, you got to do this.
Speaker B:And either way, Lucifer's like, well, it doesn't matter if you do it or you don't, because either way, I'm going to go to Jack.
Speaker B:And if you are going to come with me.
Speaker B:Or are you going to get eaten by vampires?
Speaker B:Pick one.
Speaker A:So,.
Speaker B:Yeah, so we go to the Apocalypse World Settlement that Mary and Jack have established with.
Speaker B:And so Dean and Castiel and Gabriel and Mary are all there with.
Speaker A:With.
Speaker B:With a Maggie who has also survived with them.
Speaker B:And Jack.
Speaker B:And Cassiel has filled Jack in on the demise of Sam Winchester.
Speaker B:And Jack is very upset.
Speaker A:Yeah, he is.
Speaker A:Why couldn't we bring him back?
Speaker A:You know, it was very.
Speaker A:You know, because as a child, he doesn't really understand the concept of death that well.
Speaker A:And Dean, though, wants to go back in for Sam's body.
Speaker A:But then there are alarm bells that are going off.
Speaker A:So maybe they reactivated the sigils or like, toned them down or something.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:But there's alarm bells.
Speaker A:And in walks who, but a bloody Sam.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Kind of stumbles in.
Speaker B:And then who strolls in behind this Sam, but Lucifer, he looks straight at Jack and he says, hello, son.
Speaker B:And that's our episode.
Speaker A:And that's how it ends.
Speaker B:That's how it ends.
Speaker B:And leaves us hanging for more.
Speaker B:Oh, will they?
Speaker A:Won't they?
Speaker A:Who knows?
Speaker A:And so once we talk to you, all those questions and all the.
Speaker A:What we have to come and the.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:So I'm trying to make a transition here.
Speaker A:And so do we have people in a tunnel to talk about?
Speaker A:Casting couch.
Speaker A:It's the casting couch.
Speaker C:Were they on that show that time with that guy.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So Maggie, who we'll see again, is played by Catherine Evans.
Speaker B:She's been in Kung Fu.
Speaker B:Nancy Drew in Murder in a Small Town and was Lex.
Speaker B:Is Lex in the new movie Prank Night, Floyd was played by Michael Patrick.
Speaker B:He's been in episodes of the Tudors v, Hell on wheels, arrow, the 100.
Speaker B:He's also Dan in Becoming Jane and Fergal in Hokum.
Speaker B:Our bartender was played by Trevor Lerner, and he's been in episodes of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Electro Woman and Dinah Girl.
Speaker B:Timeless Ghost Wars I, Zombie, Big Sky, Greece, Rise of the Pink Ladies, Nancy Drew.
Speaker B:He's a reoccurring character named Bert in Virgin river and has done a lot of Hallmark, including sometimes a Santa.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker B:So there we go.
Speaker B:But, yeah, this.
Speaker B:I feel like this is like our, like, like our definitely end of season, big push to.
Speaker B:To wrap up the loose ends.
Speaker B:Does that make sense?
Speaker A:Yeah, you know, definitely a.
Speaker A:A moving forward of longer plot lines,.
Speaker B:For sure.
Speaker B:So we're finally back in Apocalypse World, which, I mean, I don't like that.
Speaker B:But they finally made it there to try to save Jack and.
Speaker B:And Mary, so that's interesting and exciting.
Speaker B:I know we still haven't come back across catching Charlie, so that'll be interesting, I guess.
Speaker B:Ish.
Speaker A:Maybe.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And then just seeing what Rowena does to try to hold down the bunker.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:After we had that whole side thing where she and Gabriel were banging.
Speaker A:So that was a.
Speaker A:A fun side tangent.
Speaker A:I don't know that many people saw coming, which I thought was hilarious.
Speaker A:Was.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:We had some, like.
Speaker B:It was for being a kind of a dark episode.
Speaker B:I mean, you get another Sam death.
Speaker B:That's upsetting.
Speaker B:But also we had that really fun, like, the first, you know, solid, like, third of the episode was like, just straight up innuendo.
Speaker B:So it's kind of a nice balance, I would say.
Speaker A:Yeah, I think so.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And now we're finally gonna get into some.
Speaker A:I don't know, some more Jack storyline, I think, and.
Speaker A:And Lucifer with, you know, this coming up, you know, is been.
Speaker A:You know, he's been missing a lot of the season just because he's been in an Apocalypse World, so we really haven't seen much of a development of his character.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So, you know, I think we can.
Speaker A:You know, that's not a spoiler.
Speaker A:I think that's, you know, pretty obvious.
Speaker A:That's what we're waiting for.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So hopefully we'll have more of that to come.
Speaker A:But it was, you know, it was an enjoyable episode.
Speaker A:I just, I like, I like the, the relationship between those two and the, the concept of what happens to vampires when you starve them is always a, A good.
Speaker A:You know, it's always a good philosophical question.
Speaker A:You know, if a vampire doesn't drink blood, does what happens to them?
Speaker A:Do they just.
Speaker A:Do they turn to dust?
Speaker A:Do they.
Speaker A:Do they age?
Speaker A:You know, depending on which.
Speaker A:Which lore you have, what's going to happen to them?
Speaker B:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker B:Book series I recently read had a totally different, you know, lore series, but they had a, A, A concept about, you know, starving vampires and feeding them and not.
Speaker B:So it's kind of just.
Speaker B:It's always interesting seeing all the different, you know, concepts and, and canon on vampires.
Speaker B:I always enjoy it, at least as long as they're not too scary.
Speaker B:That's my rule.
Speaker A:Well, I think they make them really scared.
Speaker A:I mean, I.
Speaker A:It made them very scary in this episode because they were in a dark tunnel and there.
Speaker A:So there's jump scares of it.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker B:I don't like jump scares.
Speaker B:You know, this.
Speaker A:But yeah.
Speaker B:And they had to be in this one because they're supposed to be starved and crazed.
Speaker B:Starved and crazed.
Speaker A:Hangry.
Speaker A:Hangry vampires.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:But, yeah, I'm excited to see where this goes and we'll be.
Speaker B:Take a week off and then we'll dive back in and get this wrapped.
Speaker A:So we'll dive back in and we'll have two more episodes and then it'll be wrapped.
Speaker B:We'll wrap the seat.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:On that note, Cheers, Shark.
