Diana:

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, we learn what Count Duckula has to do with the number of the beast.

Liz:

And we are not down with odt.

Liz:

Let's do this.

Liz:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Liz:

I'm Diana.

Diana:

And I'm Liz.

Liz:

And we're Gonna Talk Season 9, Episode 21, King of the Damned.

Diana:

Yep.

Diana:

Sure.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

So we're actually going to be back to the storyline, so I'm sure everybody's happy about that.

Liz:

But in the meantime, what.

Liz:

What do you.

Liz:

What have you been up to, Liz?

Diana:

Not a whole lot.

Diana:

Last week was like, I don't know, their monthly or semi, monthly symposium of the strange.

Liz:

That's right.

Diana:

At the Magic Time Machine in San Antonio.

Diana:

It's not hosted by the Magic Time Machine, it's just there.

Diana:

And this time this month, it's hosted by Curious Parent Paranormal.

Diana:

Not to be confused, the Curious Twins.

Diana:

There's just a lot of curious things in San Antonio.

Diana:

And so this is a podcast by the curious guy.

Diana:

I don't remember his name, but the Kling brothers, Brad and Bill were there.

Diana:

They used to have a TV show called Ghost Lab and they used to do everyday paranormal, which was the.

Diana:

The first, like, big paranormal investigation group in San Antonio.

Diana:

So they, they did a presentation on some of their more famous haunts and things that they caught on camera in tape.

Diana:

It was just really fun.

Diana:

It probably would have scared the shit out of you, but it was, yeah, lots of really all fun, like places of Texas, like, things that are haunted and, you know, scary, scary people and like, pictures and.

Diana:

Oh, like, they had one that was really cool.

Diana:

Like, really cool.

Diana:

But they.

Diana:

So then they're at Gettysburg, they have like this video and there's like this regiment of like, Union soldiers with flags that are like, they caught like in the middle of like, the field.

Diana:

And then when they prop the camera back, like they weren't there.

Liz:

Oh, like a goosebumps.

Liz:

Just tearing.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And like the flags and stuff are really distinct, but the people look like little gray shadows.

Liz:

That's so freaky.

Diana:

Yeah, but it was in color.

Diana:

Like, I was like, oh, wow, ghosts in color.

Diana:

I guess even ghosts would be in color, but, you know, you never see pictures like that.

Diana:

So it was, it was a fun thing.

Diana:

And, you know, I got one drink before I left and I got the bubble potion, which, I don't know, we had dry.

Diana:

I just got the thing that had dry ice in it.

Liz:

I think I texted you and said you have to get a drink with Dry ice.

Liz:

Because you're at magic time machine.

Diana:

It was so bad.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

So much sugar.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

So much artificial sugar.

Liz:

I feel so badly.

Diana:

They are just not.

Diana:

It's not bo bumping like it used to be.

Diana:

And I do wonder how they gonna survive.

Liz:

Well, I'm gonna say there's one in Addison, and I haven't been in a very long time, but I feel.

Liz:

I think I went once as an adult, and I'm afraid that we had this perception as children of what the magic time machine was.

Liz:

And then going back as an adult is a wildly different experience.

Diana:

But I don't see the children in having the same magical experience.

Diana:

Like, that doesn't happen anymore.

Diana:

None of the children are jaded or what.

Liz:

But they're on the Internet.

Liz:

They're jaded.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

I just don't know.

Diana:

Like, I.

Diana:

I have strong fears for the survival of that institution.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

Which was the.

Diana:

The first date of many a young person in San Antonio.

Diana:

I'm sure that was the fancy place that you and your date went before all your.

Diana:

Your things.

Liz:

That's amazing.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

So what about you?

Liz:

It was where we picked as kids to, like, go to, like, family dinner for a birthday.

Liz:

Oh, no.

Diana:

I always wanted.

Diana:

My parents would never take me there.

Diana:

Like, oh, man.

Liz:

We didn't go often, but it was to them.

Diana:

My dad was just like, it's overpriced, and he just didn't get it.

Diana:

And I'm like, I just want the weird people in costumes to tell me bad jokes.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

And in a school bus or some other random booth that's uncomfortable.

Diana:

But, yeah, I mean, now it just seems dusty.

Diana:

Like, it really just seems dusty.

Liz:

Oh, no.

Liz:

Oh, well.

Diana:

Maybe someone will just give it a good shine.

Diana:

A good shining.

Diana:

And it'll get dusting and it'll get revived.

Liz:

There we go.

Diana:

Just need some fresh paint.

Diana:

And.

Liz:

Fresh.

Liz:

Fresh coat of paint will do a lot.

Diana:

Fresh coat of paint.

Diana:

Maybe clean up that ice machine.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

Oh, no.

Liz:

So, yeah.

Liz:

No.

Liz:

So I went to the.

Liz:

I did see music, but it wasn't like.

Liz:

That wasn't like, my key, like, thing for this weekend.

Liz:

So I did go to the Deep Ellen Block party, which was.

Liz:

We were there with our car club, and there was also a lowrider club, and they rolled deep and.

Liz:

And then there was another car club doing a cruise, but there were, you know, Ballet Folklorico.

Liz:

There was break dancers.

Liz:

There was temporary tattoos done by the local tattoo shops for kids, and some great Dallas bands played.

Liz:

And.

Liz:

Yeah, it was just a fun day hanging out and bopping around and they actually closed the street down so you could drink in the street which is kind of cool.

Liz:

Like so you get a beer and walk around.

Liz:

It's kind of.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

Like things that you're.

Liz:

I'm always like, well they don't want to close down traffic.

Liz:

I'm like oh, this is actually kind of a cool deal.

Liz:

So no, it was fun.

Liz:

Just a ton of.

Diana:

Just because you didn't have any place to be that inquired you going around that street that day.

Diana:

Which is why it was cool that for you.

Liz:

Yeah, pretty much.

Diana:

But it was not inconvenient.

Liz:

It was a really well produced.

Liz:

It was a very well produced locally produced, locally advocated for street block party.

Liz:

So just really cool.

Liz:

It felt very nostalgic de bellum in a lot of ways.

Liz:

So it's cool.

Liz:

And then yeah, we.

Liz:

That was about it this weekend for us.

Liz:

Just a lot of starting to prep for the holidays and I would be remiss if I did not mention what was on social media this week.

Liz:

That this week was our fourth anniversary of Devil's Trap podcast.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

We've been doing this for four years.

Diana:

So like.

Diana:

And subscribe motherfuckers.

Liz:

I feel like.

Liz:

I feel like you were.

Liz:

You loved my podcastiversary word that I made up but there we go.

Diana:

Yeah, it's a good word.

Diana:

I'll take it.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

But yeah, that's.

Liz:

That's about it on my end.

Liz:

I'm getting ready for to go to a couple of concerts this week.

Liz:

Of course.

Liz:

But such is my life.

Liz:

Not complaining.

Diana:

That's fine.

Diana:

I'm going to go see one of the bands you like next week.

Diana:

So whatever.

Liz:

Who are you going to see?

Diana:

Let me go the double.

Liz:

You are going.

Liz:

He's coming here too.

Liz:

I'm going to go see.

Liz:

I'm so excited.

Diana:

Yeah, he's playing.

Diana:

He's playing Emails.

Liz:

Nice.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

So this week I'm seeing Vandaliers and Josh Harry Walker.

Liz:

Then next and Reverend Horton Heat and Los.

Liz:

And then next week is yes, the Amiga the Devil shows here in Dallas.

Liz:

I'll be at Trees.

Liz:

Super stoked.

Liz:

That'll be a fun one.

Liz:

Did you see the Drowns are touring?

Liz:

Just saying.

Liz:

Yeah, I know, I got excited about that.

Diana:

Well they're also playing with lower class brats but we're playing with Texas for the first time in fucking.

Diana:

I forget how long.

Diana:

Like I see.

Diana:

I saw them in England and I saw them in Vegas and I have no idea the last time I saw them until Texas.

Liz:

Oh wow.

Diana:

So yeah, so they're playing Liverpool classic Drowns.

Diana:

Yeah, now the Drowns are amazing.

Liz:

That's.

Liz:

I mean, that's next year, but still just chatting about music, but yeah, yeah, yeah.

Diana:

So you're talking about Supernatural.

Liz:

Yeah, we can do that.

Liz:

Let's do it.

Diana:

,:

Diana:

And this was directed by PJ Pesci.

Diana:

And this was his first episode of Supernatural, but before that.

Diana:

This is from his bio.

Diana:

He has worked as a musician, a film editor, a studio recording engineer, a film instructor at Columbia, UCLA and usc, a groom at Calder racetrack and a plasterer.

Diana:

He funded his thesis student film plastering renovated brownstones in Brooklyn.

Diana:

He has studied the Israeli martial art Krav Maga for 12 years.

Diana:

He is an active motorcyclist and horseman, having grown up at the racetrack.

Diana:

In addition is he's an accomplished amateur magician and member of the Magic Castle who often includes magic as an element in his films.

Diana:

He has studied quick draw and cowboy shooting with legendary gun handers that FEL Read for 15 years.

Diana:

So that's just like his non like directing stuff, right?

Diana:

And then like he directed the direct to DV2 DVD films from Dusty Dawn 3, the Hangman's Daughter, Lost Boys, the Tribe and Smoking Aces to Assassin's Ball before moving on to TV directing.

Diana:

And though that credit includes Tremors, Leverage, Fringe, Midnight, Texas Transporter, the newest Charm, the Rookie and the newest Creep show.

Liz:

Just a lot.

Diana:

Very prolific Renaissance.

Liz:

For real.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

Yeah, that's impressive.

Diana:

Yeah, I thought it was very impressive.

Diana:

Like, so you can like kick your ass like, and shoot at you really fast like in the lane right away in a horse and jump on a motorcycle like all while filming himself, like.

Liz:

And then do a magic trick.

Diana:

And then do a magic trick and disappear.

Liz:

Amazing.

Diana:

Amazing.

Diana:

And that's what he would say.

Diana:

He would say amazing.

Diana:

And it was written by one of our favorite pairs, Eugenie Ross Lemming and Brad Butler.

Diana:

So, all right, so we start with a recap.

Liz:

And there's Metatron and Crowley and the Knights of Hell and the First Blade, AKA Old donkey teeth odt.

Liz:

And we have a hint of some hell hounds and Crowley's ongoing addiction to human blood.

Diana:

Yeah, I want to say it was a lot of recap.

Diana:

There was just, it was like a five minute long recap.

Diana:

I'm like, are we just recapping all the past nine years of Supernatural in here?

Liz:

I think they were just catching up from skipping last week.

Diana:

Yeah, they're like, oh yeah, we forgot like all this stuff happened.

Diana:

Like what happened in Chicago?

Diana:

Never mind.

Liz:

Oh.

Liz:

So we open in:

Liz:

Life leaf.

Diana:

Leith, I believe.

Liz:

Yes.

Liz:

And Abaddon, looking very modern.

Liz:

Abaddon strolls into this dude's room, calls herself a friend of family, draws a sigil in blood on the door.

Liz:

And he's like, what are you doing?

Liz:

I'm packing to leave for the colonies.

Liz:

And she's like, nah.

Liz:

Some other dude comes in, which she seems startled by because he's a real.

Diana:

Creep of a dude.

Diana:

Oh my.

Diana:

This guy is awful.

Liz:

He's gross.

Liz:

And she flings him against the wall where he gets Donna.

Liz:

Wall hook.

Diana:

Yeah, I mean, so I'm just saying don't be gross.

Liz:

And then she starts an incantation and the sigil glows in the.

Liz:

Her and the original dude disappear and flashlight.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

So we have got a group of people which we realized quickly are angels at a bar.

Liz:

And one of them.

Diana:

Why are they drinking?

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

It's very.

Diana:

Why are all these angels in a bar drinking?

Liz:

The scene is so confusing.

Diana:

I didn't.

Diana:

So now the angels drink.

Diana:

Like, so they lost their wings, now they drink?

Liz:

Apparently.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

Okay, do they get drunk?

Liz:

I don't.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

What are they doing?

Liz:

They're just sitting on fake drinking.

Diana:

I.

Diana:

I was telling my therapist today that alcohol is often a prop.

Diana:

So, you know, it's like, you know, like the fact that I.

Diana:

Anyways, so anyhow, that's.

Diana:

They're prop drinking, but somebody is telling a story about flying rats stealing pizza.

Diana:

And I really want to hear the flying rat pizza story.

Diana:

And then they get interrupted.

Diana:

I'm like, what the seagull do next?

Liz:

Well, and it's like this really weird interruption where it's.

Liz:

The guy.

Liz:

This guy just kind of like keeps trying to like join.

Liz:

They're like, yeah, I've been hand picked by the big man himself.

Liz:

I'm just not supposed to talk about it.

Liz:

But it's weird because, like, you wouldn't just like walk up to a group that you didn't know.

Liz:

So obviously they know him.

Liz:

But it was like really just.

Liz:

The context was not clear here.

Diana:

Well, or he could just be really awkward and joining.

Diana:

Sometimes people are just.

Diana:

People do that.

Liz:

Well, but I mean, when he Name dropping Metatron, they would have to know who the fuck Metatron is.

Liz:

Like, for him to bother doing that.

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

That was.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So no, they had.

Diana:

They have to at least know they're all angels.

Liz:

Right.

Liz:

So it was just a little odd.

Liz:

But and then I felt really bad because in the background you can see that there is a guy playing guitar and singing on stage and literally no one in this bar is paying attention.

Diana:

Maybe he sucks.

Liz:

I know, but it's like, oh, that sucks.

Liz:

So anyways, but this open mic night.

Diana:

And that's just like Bill.

Diana:

And Bill's been doing that like the same song for the past 15 years.

Diana:

And you're like, I don't want to hear Bill anymore.

Liz:

But that it'd be new to the angels.

Liz:

They haven't been going there for 15 years.

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

But it was still like, oh damn.

Liz:

But so this group finally takes the bait for our awkward dude.

Liz:

And they're like, okay, well I, I appreciate.

Liz:

Yeah, sure, I appreciate Metatron's vision.

Liz:

So why don't you like tell us what's up?

Liz:

He's like, yeah, it's gonna be a makeover in heaven.

Liz:

But I'm, you know, be one of the chosen few.

Liz:

And you can see these other people like watching this conversation.

Liz:

And now we all know that's bad.

Liz:

Something as bad as happening because there are clearly people intentionally eavesdropping on this.

Liz:

So our, our awkward dude leaves by himself and quickly gets nabbed by the two people that were eavesdropping and chained up.

Liz:

And then another angel enters and is like, oh, there's consequences for speaking.

Diana:

That guy is wearing way too much maroon.

Liz:

I love it.

Liz:

The monochrome maroon is so cool.

Diana:

I love it, love it.

Liz:

I mean look, we do that with black all the time.

Diana:

That's not monochrome.

Diana:

That's just black.

Liz:

But like there's a color.

Diana:

I'm not being monochrome.

Diana:

I'm just wearing black.

Liz:

All black.

Liz:

But he's like, yeah, there's consequences for speaking that freely.

Liz:

Hahaha.

Liz:

And this.

Liz:

And then Cass enters.

Liz:

So you think it's going to be one of Metatron's people, but it's not.

Liz:

It's Castiel's side.

Diana:

Yes.

Diana:

The him he has to face is Cass.

Liz:

Yep.

Liz:

So Sam and Dean are at the Central municipal power company where they get greeted by our, our maroon monochromatic Benjamin.

Diana:

And I call five.

Diana:

But so Maroon 5.

Diana:

He opens the door and he takes them to the commander.

Liz:

And the commander is Cass.

Liz:

Commander Cass.

Liz:

And yeah, but they go through like this crazy like central command center with maps with light up little bulbs on it, which super cool, probably not practical.

Diana:

I don't know how those work.

Diana:

I like them.

Diana:

You know, it's kind of like I like being in like the giant like really fancy network security Centers.

Diana:

We have all, like, the digitally lights that blink up, but they don't really mean anything anytime.

Diana:

Like I've ever had a pew, pew map up.

Diana:

It was just to make some C suite person or some general happy.

Diana:

I'm like, yes, look at us pew pewing.

Diana:

All the things.

Liz:

Pew, pew, pew, pew away.

Diana:

Anyhow, it's.

Diana:

Yes, but it's very, like, almost.

Diana:

Not kind of steampunky, I think.

Diana:

You know, just in, like, it looks like it should, like, almost, like, modern.

Liz:

It's that.

Liz:

Yeah, it's like.

Liz:

It's like that contrast where it's, like, dated and very modern all at the same time.

Liz:

Yeah, it's weird.

Liz:

Which is always interesting.

Liz:

Aesthetically, it's very.

Diana:

It's aesthetically pleasing, mainly because there's big signs with flashy lights.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Things we like.

Diana:

Things I like.

Diana:

I like flashy lights.

Liz:

But.

Liz:

Yeah, but, like.

Liz:

And there's just, like, they've got a lot of Edison.

Liz:

Been bustling with, like, all these angels and just, like, run around answering phones and stuff.

Liz:

It's kind of crazy.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

But Castiel is in the overseeing office, and he hugs Sam and Dean and dismisses Benjamin, aka Maroon 5.

Liz:

But Dean's teasing Cas about being the commander.

Liz:

And Cass is trying to explain, like, how he ended up in leadership.

Liz:

But basically there's, you know, there's gonna be a war unless he finds a diplomatic reason to get rid of Metatron.

Liz:

It's the summary of where we're at.

Liz:

So Dean seems kind of just annoyed.

Liz:

He's like.

Liz:

It's just kind of like, whatever about the whole thing that.

Liz:

That Cass is involved here and he's in.

Liz:

But Castiel's like, look, I called you in for a specific reason.

Liz:

We need to get intel from this prisoner that we have.

Liz:

I don't know.

Diana:

Yeah, they want.

Diana:

They want the boys to torture the angel.

Diana:

And Dean seems pretty happy about doing.

Liz:

This, which is weird, right?

Diana:

Yes, it's psychotic.

Diana:

So, yeah, it's gross and weird.

Diana:

So then we go from that weirdness.

Liz:

To the Humboldt Hotel, where Crowley is trying to hold a meeting with his minions.

Liz:

And he admits that his absence made a crisis that he caused.

Liz:

And it's, you know, resulted in Abaddon making some inroads into his following.

Liz:

So he.

Liz:

He just needs to restore confidence that the king is back and needs their help to do it.

Liz:

And, well, his entire.

Liz:

His entire cabinet has already turned on him.

Diana:

Yeah, you can't get good minions anymore.

Liz:

And Abaddon just strolls in, and while he.

Liz:

Crowley's threatening them all with torture.

Liz:

Abaddon is assuring them they are all at the cool kids table.

Liz:

So she's like, by the way, Crowley, I know about the old donkey teeth and the mark of Kane.

Liz:

And I'm also very distraught because she had a martini in her martini glass.

Liz:

And the lemon twist in it looked like it was like the saddest lemon twist.

Liz:

Like, it was like the spiral had, like, collapsed and it just looked really sad.

Diana:

It's probably been sitting in there for, like, hours.

Diana:

I know.

Liz:

I'm like, dang.

Liz:

Can you not refresh the lemon twist?

Diana:

Yes.

Liz:

Like, come on, guys.

Liz:

I was just like, oh, she's got a martini.

Liz:

Because I did have a martini on Sunday, partially because of her right after.

Liz:

But I watched this episode.

Liz:

I'm like, I want a martini.

Liz:

But I'm like, my heart lemon twist is sad.

Liz:

Let me replace that.

Liz:

But she's like, look, I.

Liz:

By the way, Crowley, have you not figured out that once I'm dead that you're next on the Winchesters list?

Liz:

So why don't we join up, kill those two and then let you know, and then we can battle it out amongst ourselves after that.

Liz:

And Crowley's like, pass not joining you except in your death scene.

Liz:

Well, I will burst into song.

Liz:

Which is funny.

Liz:

I appreciated that line.

Liz:

But she's not going to let him leave.

Liz:

And she's going to use our young man from Scotland as leverage.

Liz:

This is Gavin, who apparently is Crowley's son.

Diana:

Yes.

Liz:

So she and Crowley's like, well, we hate each other.

Liz:

This is not going to do any fucking good.

Liz:

And Abaddon's like, yeah, that you say that, but you've have been addicted to blood and now you've got this humanity bit in you.

Liz:

So let's see how this plays out, actually.

Liz:

And then she, like, twists her hand and makes Gavin's like, eyeballs bleed out.

Liz:

It's very uncomfortable to watch.

Diana:

It was.

Diana:

She tortures him a lot.

Diana:

And I don't think you have to, like, have fatherly feelings just to want that to stop.

Diana:

I would just, for anybody, I would just be like, please stop that.

Liz:

It's gross and sad.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

Like, nobody wants to see that.

Diana:

Even if you're a demon.

Diana:

You're probably like, that's.

Diana:

That's enough.

Liz:

There was so much blood.

Liz:

Did you notice, like, the blood puddle on the floor, like, how much blood is pouring out of his.

Liz:

Do.

Liz:

Does the eyeball bleed that much?

Liz:

Things I never want to Google.

Liz:

Please don't tend to answer that question.

Liz:

I'm just saying it was upsetting indeed.

Diana:

Diana, Directly.

Liz:

No, no, pass.

Liz:

I don't want to know.

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

I'm just gonna say it seemed like too much blood, but yeah.

Liz:

So either way, he.

Liz:

Crowley's like, oh, you're just, you know, you're a weak hand using party tricks.

Liz:

But then finally, he breaks and tells her to stop.

Liz:

So now we are back at the prisoner angel, who I.

Liz:

His name is Ezra.

Liz:

And he informs Sam and Dean that they are wasting their time trying to torture him because he is a trained commando.

Liz:

But Sam and Dean just mind him.

Liz:

And it's actually so good, it's very entertaining because Ezra's not smart.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

But before, like, they start doing that, like, Dean's about to just stab him with an angel blade.

Diana:

And then we kind of go into the.

Diana:

Oh, wait.

Diana:

Sometimes you can torture them with the angel blade.

Diana:

But so now, like, you're just gonna.

Diana:

Okay.

Diana:

So then Sam takes it away, and then they start taunting Ezra.

Liz:

They do.

Liz:

But they do get him to talk some by, like, oh, well, he probably doesn't know anything.

Liz:

Ha ha.

Liz:

He's just a wannabe.

Liz:

The key players would be in heaven, obviously.

Liz:

And finally, Ezra breaks.

Liz:

He's like, oh, well, no, I.

Liz:

What if I'm a decoy?

Liz:

You're undercover or something?

Liz:

And he's like, oh, well, what if there was a private portal to heaven?

Liz:

No gate needed.

Liz:

Ooh.

Liz:

So now they know that there is a private portal to heaven that moves around.

Liz:

So they've already got some intel out of this kid back in Ohio.

Liz:

The Humboldt Hotel.

Liz:

Gavin has recovered from having his eyeballs tortured out.

Liz:

I don't know, you want to call it burned out, gouged out with whatever.

Liz:

Grossed out.

Liz:

And he tells Crowley, like.

Liz:

He's like, the.

Liz:

Crowley's not my father.

Liz:

Who the is this dude?

Liz:

My father was a drunk monster, and I buried him.

Liz:

And Crowley's like, a lot can change in 291 years.

Liz:

So apparently, Gavin is very confused by this.

Liz:

So Crowley shows him a light bulb.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And Gavin wants to know if you can cook a pigeon on it.

Diana:

And it reminds me of, like, that consultant who didn't understand why we could use rocks at a Japanese restaurant to cook meat on.

Diana:

And he was like, how is the rock cooking the meat?

Diana:

And I was like, oh, you're going to be vice president of a company.

Liz:

One day, aren't you?

Diana:

But anyhow.

Diana:

So not only is Gavin impressed by the light bulb, he's also very impressed by the elderly outside.

Liz:

Yes.

Liz:

When they show him the balcony of the hotel.

Liz:

Ooh.

Liz:

Yes.

Liz:

If they're Angels, which is ironic.

Liz:

So poor Ezra is still getting manipulated as Sam and Dean are trying to get him to talk more.

Liz:

They basically just say that, like, joke that, like, basically, he's a super fan of Metatron.

Liz:

Pretend.

Liz:

And that's how he's pretending.

Liz:

Like he actually knows it.

Liz:

And they kind of, like, pieced together that Ezra was a finalist for some high up position, but he didn't get it.

Liz:

And he is.

Liz:

He says that he's on the ground forces, but he doesn't know what it is.

Liz:

He doesn't know what the squad's mission even is.

Liz:

He just knows that he's in some.

Liz:

He didn't get the job.

Liz:

He didn't get the bigwig job with Metatron.

Liz:

He's staying on Earth with submission.

Liz:

That he didn't know.

Liz:

So back at the Humboldt, Crowley does explain to Gavin how he is his father because apparently he sold his soul.

Liz:

What did he sell his soul for?

Diana:

3 extra inches of dick.

Diana:

We know.

Diana:

Like, some of us, we know this.

Diana:

This kind of happened back in another episode with Bobby was in it.

Diana:

So we've learned some of this before, but we're just getting reinforced, so.

Diana:

But, yes, Crowley sold his soul for three extra inches of.

Liz:

Yeah, but telling his son, that's a little different.

Diana:

Well, I mean, if it's hereditary, maybe he can know, like, I'd be like, so what?

Diana:

Like, you didn't pass that on?

Diana:

Like, what's going on?

Diana:

But then he just.

Diana:

Then Crowley explains like, his entire trajectory, like, of how you.

Diana:

And this is kind of interesting if, you know, thinking about how one becomes a demon.

Diana:

So we go the whole thing of, like, he got demonized in Hell, then he had to possess another person so he could traffic with the living.

Diana:

And he's not just any demon.

Diana:

He's the king of Hell.

Diana:

So, you know, you should suck up to your father.

Liz:

Mm.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Would that be scary or exciting?

Liz:

I don't know.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

It's a pin.

Diana:

Like, is your father the King of Hell gonna be.

Diana:

Like, what kind of Satan is he gonna be?

Diana:

You know, because they're all.

Diana:

There's different kinds, right?

Diana:

There's like the scary rip off your face kind and, like, roast you over marshmallow pit.

Diana:

Or there's like, you know, the Adam Sandler kind where you get, you know, like, cool clothes and shit.

Liz:

Well, back at Cassiel's Angels, I was like.

Diana:

Or maybe Elizabeth Hurley is your.

Diana:

Is your Is.

Liz:

That's a.

Liz:

I mean, yeah.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I mean, I don't know.

Liz:

Get some Tom Ellis in there.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

Or George Burns.

Diana:

I mean, George Burns could be like, you know, a good.

Diana:

A good king of hell, like.

Diana:

So there's a lot of different ways you could go with this.

Liz:

It's very true.

Liz:

Very true.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I guess it just depend.

Liz:

There's a lot of.

Liz:

A lot of.

Liz:

A lot of factors.

Liz:

A lot of variables.

Diana:

A lot of variables.

Diana:

Is it Tom Ellis?

Liz:

Different convo.

Liz:

Totally different convo.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

Then I don't want him to be my dad.

Liz:

Absolutely not.

Liz:

That'd be so disappointing.

Liz:

Biggest bummer ever.

Diana:

Anyways, so then we get back to angel land.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And the check.

Liz:

Angel goes to check on Ezra and he dead in the cell.

Liz:

So somebody has gone in to kill him.

Diana:

So I think it's interesting because they don't have their wings when they fell.

Diana:

Like, so now when angels die, there aren't the wings on the ground.

Liz:

Yes.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I thought there was kind of wings in that one scene two episodes ago.

Diana:

Though, where all the angels were on the ground.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I don't think there were shitty ones now.

Liz:

I gotta tell you.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

Let's go back and watch it.

Diana:

But anyway, there's no wings.

Diana:

There's no burnt wings for him.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And then, so Sam and Dean are insisting to Cassie he was fine when they left him.

Liz:

And Dean says, look.

Liz:

But Cass is like, I'm just.

Liz:

You know, I'm so confused because I feel like we're so united and everybody's so loyal.

Liz:

And Dean's like, that's your problem.

Liz:

You don't think anyone's lying.

Liz:

And I think everyone's lying.

Diana:

I mean, is that wrong?

Liz:

That's a very accurate statement.

Liz:

Well, I mean, Cass.

Liz:

Cass doesn't think anyone's lying.

Liz:

And Dean thinks everyone's lying.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

That's facts.

Liz:

That's accurate.

Liz:

So Dean walks out.

Liz:

And in the meantime, Castiel takes this time to ask Sam about Gadriel.

Liz:

And.

Liz:

Which, by the way, I can say again because there's not Gabriel in this episode.

Liz:

So it's not throwing me off.

Diana:

Well, I was hope.

Diana:

I was wondering, though, if you said Cassie elf, it would throw you off.

Liz:

Don't.

Diana:

Stop it.

Diana:

Anyway, so he wants to know what it.

Diana:

Like, what it was like when.

Diana:

When he had an angel inside of him.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And Sam's like, well, I wasn't fully possessed.

Liz:

I was still myself.

Liz:

It was more like, described it as shared housing.

Liz:

Which is weird because I feel like there'd be more awareness that he was there then.

Liz:

Even though he said he.

Liz:

Anyways, that's just very confusing.

Liz:

But at the end of the day, he didn't feel threatened.

Liz:

He did feel like Gadriel had unfinished business and was misunderstood, but was not hostile until he killed fucking Kevin.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And then he was like, oh, shit.

Diana:

He was not good.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

So back at the Humboldt, we have the sports section of the newspaper, and Gavin is outlining why he hates Crowley, AKA dad, which is.

Liz:

I mean, it's a pretty good outline of why.

Liz:

And.

Liz:

But one fun fact is that apparently he is illiterate.

Liz:

And Crowley's like, oh, well, most of Europe couldn't read.

Liz:

Most of Europe was illiterate then.

Liz:

But by the way, boop.

Liz:

Here you go.

Liz:

Here's the paper.

Liz:

You know, apparently, he's literate.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And while Gavin is astonished to hear that the Buccaneers beat the Saints, we also learn within that little dialogue that Crowley did not have a good role model, but his mother was a witch.

Diana:

And, hello, witches can be great role models, but that's also maybe foreshadowing things to come.

Diana:

So noted.

Diana:

Crowley's mom is a witch.

Diana:

So Gavin is really excited also to learn that he is a prince.

Diana:

And that means he can sing as much as he wants and not burn in hell.

Liz:

Yeah, that's probably not ideal scenario for that to be your first thought process.

Liz:

And Crowley.

Liz:

But Crowley's proud of him for figuring out and trying to negotiate this.

Liz:

So it's a.

Liz:

It's an odd.

Liz:

Odd little mix around there.

Liz:

But Gavin's like, cool, cool.

Liz:

Well, now I know I'm the Prince of Hell.

Liz:

I want to go back to my time and take that ship to the new world right now.

Liz:

So, back over in the woods now, Castiel is meeting with Gadriel, and.

Liz:

And there's this check angel hanging around, too.

Liz:

But Gadriel says that he's.

Liz:

He's meeting Cass because Cass has reputation for honor.

Liz:

And so, blah, blah, blah.

Liz:

The Garden wasn't my fault.

Liz:

Cass is like, I just know you're misunderstood.

Liz:

Blah, blah, blah.

Liz:

I want to make sure you know, though, that you should not trust Meta.

Liz:

Because I trusted Metatron, and it went poorly, so you should not trust him either.

Liz:

This is not your second chance.

Liz:

This is shit's.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And he's just like, you should reclaim your loyalty to Heaven.

Diana:

And Gadriel's like, I thought that's what I was doing.

Diana:

And now you just feel bad.

Diana:

Kind of bad for him.

Diana:

Even though he.

Diana:

He's, like, done.

Diana:

He's made very bad choices, including, you know, the things he has done to Kevin and all the other things he has done to Metatron.

Diana:

But there's Also part of you.

Diana:

It's like, you dumbass.

Diana:

Like he's trying.

Diana:

Like, you think you're doing this for.

Liz:

Good and you're not such a dumb.

Liz:

Dumb.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And then all of a sudden, they get attacked.

Liz:

And Castiel has to kick.

Liz:

Kill an angel.

Liz:

And Gadriel has to kill.

Liz:

Kills an angel.

Liz:

And then there's another angel gets killed.

Liz:

A bunch of angel attack and angels get killed in the woods.

Diana:

The important thing is that when somebody attacks, Cass Goodrell warns him.

Liz:

Yes.

Liz:

So that was interesting.

Diana:

You see, like you I just put non important.

Diana:

Angels get stabbed.

Diana:

Side players.

Diana:

Side players get taken out.

Liz:

So the.

Liz:

We cut to Dean, who's sitting at a desk having a deep personal moment, fantasizing about old donkey teeth and his.

Diana:

Mark and how shaky everything was.

Diana:

He's just like, I miss how shaky it was.

Diana:

It was so shaky every time I held it.

Liz:

He just really wants to be motion sick.

Diana:

He does.

Diana:

That's just like all he wants.

Liz:

That's just what he wants.

Liz:

He just likes the motion sick, apparently.

Liz:

And Sam's trying to snap him out of it, but then Crowley calls and that really snaps him out of it.

Liz:

And it's like he.

Liz:

Crowley's like, I found Abaddon.

Liz:

I need you to go get the First Blade.

Liz:

And I'll keep her in my sights.

Liz:

But obviously this is a setup we know as the viewer because she's sitting there with him.

Liz:

Duh.

Liz:

Anyway, so Sam and DEAN Go to St.

Liz:

Anthony's Cemetery at night and dig up a casket because the blade has been placed inside a fairly fresh corpse.

Liz:

And I guess I'm not.

Liz:

Huh.

Diana:

It's pretty ripe.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I'm not like.

Liz:

I'm not a decomposition expert, so I'm not gonna say like, oh, that's too fresh for him.

Liz:

Like, I don't know when he would have hit.

Liz:

Like, I'm the timeline.

Liz:

Like, how long it was ago that he hit it versus now.

Liz:

And how old this body is.

Liz:

I'm not gonna pretend to know.

Liz:

All I know is this body looks effing gross.

Diana:

Well, and maybe the blade's been being moved around.

Diana:

It could have been put like there's a new corpse that got put in one corpse, like whits away.

Diana:

And then like, of course is brought in.

Diana:

But they start hearing growling and it sounds like Hell puppies.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

We've got a Hellhound a Hell Puppers and.

Liz:

But they have to run and go hide in the crypt because this hell pepper is going to eat their faces.

Liz:

So back at the hotel.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

They call Crowley and so he's like, the hellhound was supposed to have been collected.

Diana:

And they put him on speaker and he tells Juliet to.

Diana:

To stand down.

Diana:

And there's a puppy making a whimpering sound.

Diana:

And on Dean's phone we can see that it says 666.

Diana:

And that is Crowley's number.

Diana:

And this isn't the first time that we have seen those Crowley's numbers.

Diana:

But I do want to talk about it anyhow.

Diana:

So we're going to talk about the lore of 666.

Diana:

So woe to you, O earth and sea.

Diana:

For the devil sends the beast with wrath because he knows the time is short.

Diana:

Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number.

Diana:

Its number is 666.

Diana:

And that is the introduction to Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast.

Diana:

And that passage was actually read by the English actor Barry Clayton, who is best known for being the narrator for Count Duckula, which I completely forgot was a series until I read that.

Diana:

And now I have to go back and re watch Count Duckula.

Diana:

But also they had him do it because Vincent Price wouldn't do it for anything less than £25,000.

Diana:

So Iron Maiden was like, okay, we're gonna go with this cheaper guy.

Diana:

And it does.

Diana:

That combines Revelation:

Diana:

And it misses the part that a lot of people know that's about the mark.

Diana:

So that's where it says he also caused everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to obtain a mark on their right hand or on their forehand forehead.

Diana:

Not a forehand.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

You could have four hands, but so no mark of mark on the forehead.

Diana:

Thus no one was allowed to buy or sell things unless he bore the mark of the beast.

Diana:

That is his name or his number.

Diana:

And so what about the 666?

Diana:

666 or whatever.

Diana:

So some do think about.

Diana:

The Bible was originally written in Greek, right?

Diana:

And Greek doesn't have any numbers.

Diana:

Instead, they have letters in the Alphabet that have numeric value.

Diana:

So like alpha equals 1, beta equals 2.

Diana:

So when you basically had words that were representing numbers.

Diana:

So then you can do something called isopec.

Diana:

God damn it.

Diana:

I looked up how you said this word.

Diana:

I still can't say it.

Diana:

Isopa sefi is gematria in Hebrew.

Diana:

And basically this is what happens when you add up the value of those words because they have numbers associated with them.

Diana:

And then you can combine that to meet to like equal a phrase, right?

Diana:

So the numbers of this word will equal to certain things.

Diana:

So if you add up 666, that equates to Caesar Nero in Greek, who would have been emperor about the same time Revelation was written.

Diana:

His face was printed on the money.

Diana:

And also during this time, the Jewish people revolted and made their own monies.

Diana:

So there is a lot of thought that this is the.666 actually was a.

Diana:

A word played to mean Nero.

Diana:

Right.

Diana:

And then some early manuscripts actually have the number written as 616.

Diana:

And that could have been.

Diana:

Because when they wrote it in Latin, that's what Caesar Nero adds up to.

Diana:

Or it could have been a typo because people are writing these things out by hand.

Diana:

And then like one person wrote 616 and then the next person wrote 616.

Liz:

And then, you know, like a telephone game.

Diana:

Yeah, but.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So some other fun theories about 666.

Diana:

In biblical symbolism, seven represents perfection.

Diana:

So Jesus had a number.

Diana:

It would be 777.

Diana:

So 666 is Satan's cheap imitation of Jesus.

Diana:

Some fund.

Diana:

This is a fun one that I always.

Diana:

I love a good conspiracy theory.

Diana:

Some fundamental Christian groups think that the mark might be something implanted in human beings, like an RFID microchip or barcode.

Diana:

You ever.

Diana:

You ever heard that?

Diana:

Oh, God, the Inquirer used to have that in there all the time.

Diana:

And like, it's still like during coven.

Diana:

It was like the vaccine had like the chip.

Diana:

Right?

Liz:

The chip in it.

Diana:

So.

Diana:

Yeah, but that, like when barcodes first became a thing, there were a lot of people that were like, that's the number.

Diana:

That's the murder of the beast.

Diana:

And that's, you know, that's the news.

Diana:

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the beast identified by the number 666 represents the world's unified governments in opposition to God.

Diana:

The beast is said to have a human number in that the representative governments are of a human origin rather than spirit entities.

Diana:

So the number 666 is said to identify the gross shortcomings and failure in the eyes of Jehovah.

Diana:

So government failing is what that means, right?

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So some other fun facts about the number that maybe aren't about Satan or, you know, or revelation.

Diana:

So 666 is also an angel number.

Diana:

So that's when repeated single digits have spiritual meaning.

Diana:

So for those.

Liz:

Yeah, that's really like.

Liz:

That's like a big, like, trend.

Liz:

I hate to use that word right now.

Liz:

It's like you're seeing like 4, 4, 4 and 7.

Liz:

7, 7, like I'm see, I've been seeing 4, 4, 4, like, all the time.

Liz:

It's like my angel number.

Liz:

It's like a thing right now that's my.

Diana:

Yeah, y'all can't have 4, 4, 4.

Diana:

Anyways, so.

Diana:

So 666 may.

Diana:

It's not necessarily a bad omen, right?

Diana:

So it can mean a sign that you have to focus on the problems of your daily life that are overshadowing what's.

Diana:

I think, to focus on what's truly important because your daily life is overshadowing what you need to focus on.

Diana:

And it's a reminder to use your inner voice and not lose sight of your bigger purpose.

Diana:

In Japanese culture, 666 is considered a lucky number.

Diana:

And it can be read as roku, roku, roku, which is similar to I can't do in Japanese.

Diana:

And I tried to find a way to say it.

Diana:

It was like, rokon, rokon, rokon.

Diana:

And that means a lot of happiness, right?

Diana:

In Mandarin, if the 6.

Diana:

666 is Lulu.

Diana:

And so that sounds a lot like the term for smooth, like, good going.

Diana:

And so in, like, gaming circles, like in League of Legends, little things, like, people started using that as a way of saying, like, well, first off, it's 666 was easier to type than, like, you know, that was.

Diana:

That was dope or whatever.

Diana:

So the.

Diana:

But you also just like the like, saying it's just fun to.

Diana:

Fun to say, which is much more fun to say than this word, which is hex, hexa co.

Diana:

Hexa compta.

Diana:

Hexaphobia, which is the fear of the number 666.

Diana:

And that can manifest in different ways.

Diana:

And people who have that, like, they can drive far farther than they need to be.

Diana:

Like, so their odometer doesn't say, like, 666.

Diana:

So they have to, like, drive like, another mile so it doesn't stop there.

Diana:

Or like, they won't enter buildings with that and the address.

Diana:

Like, there was a building in New York that sadly, like, 666 Fifth Avenue, like, got changed to 660 Fifth Avenue because people are lame and not any good.

Diana:

It's like, it used to have, like.

Liz:

These numbers, like, when your order rings up at 6.66 and you're like, no, I must buy something else.

Liz:

Like, those people.

Diana:

Those people instead of me, who's like, yes, this is like, the best burger, so.

Diana:

Or like, you can't.

Diana:

Like, the bills.

Diana:

Like, you had to, like, add the extra thing on tips.

Diana:

Or like, credit cards.

Diana:

Like, we have, like, number 666.

Diana:

And it'll throw them out.

Diana:

So, yeah, that's just a little bit insight onto the number of the beast.

Liz:

Interesting.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And I really have had the number of the beast stuck in my head ever since I started writing about this.

Diana:

Just over and over again.

Liz:

It's in my head now too.

Diana:

So, yeah, I did start.

Diana:

I looked up, like, if I would.

Diana:

If Siva.

Diana:

What a lull.

Diana:

I would recommend putting 666 into search engine to Spotify and hundreds, Hundreds of songs.

Diana:

666 of them, including 666 problems.

Diana:

And that was a good one.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

Is that like 99 problems?

Liz:

But yes.

Liz:

But Satany.

Diana:

But Satany.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And there's.

Diana:

There's so many good.

Diana:

So many interesting ways that it gets taken.

Diana:

Like, there's no genre that does not include that really.

Diana:

Every genre has got something about 666.

Liz:

You know, some things are universal.

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

Huh.

Diana:

All right, so let's get back to our course.

Liz:

All right.

Liz:

All right.

Liz:

So we've got Sam and Dean are going to pull the.

Liz:

Cut these stitches out of this poor, dead, bloated corpse and get out old, old donkey teeth.

Liz:

But Sam does stop Dean from doing it and insist into himself.

Liz:

Because he knows Dean gets real glitchy when he does.

Diana:

He is like, we don't want you get.

Diana:

Get your ODT boner.

Diana:

He gets very horny when he holds it.

Diana:

He just does.

Liz:

Oh, God.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

And it is really covered in guts and gore.

Liz:

So grody.

Liz:

It's real grody.

Diana:

Did they stop somewhere to, like, wash it off?

Liz:

I don't know.

Diana:

Do they just, like, take some bottled water out of baby and then just, like, sprinkle it over it?

Liz:

I mean, I feel like trunk must have some decent cleaning supplies available.

Liz:

It would just be a waste of space if not.

Liz:

Right.

Liz:

As much like, weird as they get into, like, they're digging graves on the regular, you'd think they might need something to clean up with or digging up graves, to be clear.

Liz:

So I don't know.

Liz:

Well, Crowley is trying to explain to Gavin that it is not a good idea to go back to his time and board a ship to the colonies.

Liz:

And while he's doing that, Gavin storms off.

Liz:

So Dean is informing Crowley that he.

Liz:

They have the Blade.

Liz:

And Crowley is like, oh, cool, here's where I'm at.

Liz:

You can come meet me and then we can skewer the ignorant hag.

Liz:

And then he's like, but we need to hurry because it's.

Liz:

It's a Couple days drive for them from Poughkeepsie.

Liz:

I don't like saying that one.

Diana:

But you don't like saying Poughkeepsie.

Liz:

No, it's hard to say word to say.

Liz:

It is fun to say, but I always feel like I'm saying it wrong.

Liz:

Poughkeepski.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

But.

Diana:

And you want to say the thing about having a phobia of the number 666.

Liz:

No, I don't want to do that either.

Liz:

Kind of.

Liz:

But.

Liz:

But.

Liz:

So he's like, yeah, you need to leave Poughkeepsky right away.

Liz:

And Dean's like, what the are you talking about?

Liz:

And then Abaddon is the one that reveals to us because we remember that that is a code word that Dean uses.

Liz:

And Abaddon's like, you've been plotting with them for a long time.

Liz:

So I don't really like that.

Liz:

So I'm gonna take a tip from Henry Winchester and shoot you with a bullet that has a devil's trap on it.

Liz:

Oh, my gosh.

Liz:

Yeah, the devil's trap carved in a bullet.

Liz:

And he's not like actually damaged or hurt.

Liz:

He's just now powerless and sitting there bloody in a chair.

Diana:

Yeah, he's powerless in his meat suit.

Diana:

Then we go to Earth somewhere.

Liz:

Yeah, we've got.

Liz:

Gadriel is explaining to Cassiel that he is not the one that double crossed him.

Liz:

I still believe in honor, even in war.

Liz:

And.

Liz:

But Cass is like, yeah, but you've mistraced your trust again.

Liz:

So here's what I'm going to tell you.

Liz:

You need to do.

Liz:

You should tell me reports on Metatron's planet movements, because obviously, yeah, he wants.

Diana:

Them to be a man on the inside, which is a new series.

Diana:

A new series that is on Netflix with Ted Danson.

Diana:

And it looks like it's going to be really funny, but it's really depressing if you're thinking.

Diana:

If you have a parent that's going through dementia and it's just really like.

Diana:

It's very poignant.

Diana:

It is very funny.

Diana:

And there's.

Diana:

The cast is amazing because I got, you know, my Rosa.

Diana:

And it's.

Diana:

It's.

Diana:

It's really good, but it's not the jaunty Ted Dance in Good Place romp.

Liz:

I thought it was gonna be noted.

Liz:

Okay.

Diana:

Yeah, you.

Diana:

You prepare.

Diana:

Like, don't watch that when you're like, expecting.

Diana:

Don't expect a good place.

Liz:

Yikes.

Liz:

Well, it's got.

Liz:

Good place was a little deeper than it seemed after a while too.

Liz:

But yeah, it was.

Diana:

I Mean, it had dark moments, but it wasn't like my wife died from alz.

Diana:

Timer's dark.

Liz:

No, it's not that dark.

Liz:

You're right.

Liz:

So Sam and Dean get to the hotel, and they're.

Liz:

Dean makes up some story about Crowley, told him about demons in the basement.

Liz:

So he wants Sam to go check that out while Dean goes in.

Diana:

And Sam's like, when did you tell me that?

Diana:

Tell me that.

Diana:

Like, I didn't.

Diana:

He's like, oh, I just didn't mention it.

Diana:

Like, Sam, you should be like, the Dean.

Liz:

Yeah, the.

Liz:

Indeed, cuz.

Liz:

Dean's gonna go into the room, and Crowley's there, sees that he's shot.

Liz:

And Crowley can see the immediate blood lust in Dean's eyes.

Liz:

So he gets a.

Liz:

Dean gets attacked by a demon, and then he kills it.

Liz:

But then Abaddon is there.

Liz:

She attacks Dean and flings him and pins him to the wall.

Liz:

While Sam's just strolling through the basement by himself.

Diana:

Looking around the basement.

Diana:

I'm just in the basement.

Liz:

I'm just looking around the basement.

Liz:

Don't mind me.

Liz:

It's very neat basement.

Liz:

Very organized.

Liz:

Supplies.

Liz:

Good job.

Liz:

Humboldt Hotel.

Liz:

So Abaddon's like, cool.

Liz:

You're gonna die.

Liz:

Painfully.

Liz:

And then Crowley's gonna watch Gavin die.

Liz:

And then Crowley's gonna die.

Liz:

So this sounds like a bad so.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

But Dean's like, actually, no.

Liz:

And he, like, thinks really.

Liz:

He strains really hard and he thinks.

Diana:

Really?

Liz:

He doesn't know.

Diana:

He does some incredible mind work.

Diana:

He is miming against the wind so hard.

Diana:

Disease going through her, breaking through her powers.

Diana:

This is incredible mind work, Mr.

Diana:

Ackles.

Liz:

Yeah, he's.

Liz:

He pushes through his.

Liz:

His art.

Liz:

His mark is glowing.

Liz:

He pulls himself from the wall, and he's fighting there.

Liz:

And it's so impressive.

Liz:

And then she flings him back to the wall again.

Liz:

And he drops the blade, which is not good.

Liz:

So that's.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And she's laughing at him, and she's gonna choke him.

Liz:

But he stares her down.

Liz:

And he's gonna fight it again.

Liz:

His mind working, continues.

Liz:

And he pulls the blade magically back to his hand.

Liz:

Because I guess the mark lets him do that.

Diana:

Yeah, he's like.

Diana:

It's a very Luke Skywalker moment.

Diana:

And so he Jedi's odt to him because they're so connected.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And then he just walks up to her and stabs her right as Sam walks in.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And then we can see, like, he's stabbing her so hard, he's, like, lifting her off the ground.

Diana:

And then she's Got these skinny jeans that are over motorcycle boots.

Diana:

And, like, they have no problem, like, fitting over the top of them.

Diana:

And they're not pointing out awkwardly.

Diana:

Like, there's as one that's hanging out.

Diana:

This is impossible.

Diana:

This is.

Diana:

I don't understand how they made that happen.

Liz:

So cool.

Diana:

Anyways.

Liz:

Even getting killed.

Liz:

She looks.

Diana:

Even getting killed.

Diana:

I'm just like, what the.

Diana:

We can pull off skinny jeans and motorcycle boots.

Liz:

I've been looking for, like, some, like, super, like.

Liz:

Like skinny ankle.

Liz:

Like a almost like Chelsea ankle motorcycle boot kind of look.

Liz:

Because I'm like, oh, then I could wear skinny jeans with them.

Liz:

It would have that look without.

Liz:

Anyways, this is why I have four.

Diana:

Different versions of motorcycle boots.

Liz:

I know.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

But then Dean starts, like, bludgeoning her on the ground when she's already dead.

Liz:

And it's real.

Liz:

A lot.

Liz:

It's a lot.

Diana:

His hand's real bloody.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And they have to stop him.

Liz:

Like, Sam has to stop him.

Liz:

And there's blood splattered everywhere.

Liz:

And she is very, very dead.

Diana:

Watching this from the chair.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

He.

Liz:

Then he takes a knife and pulls the bullet out of his shoulder.

Liz:

And Sam says that, you know, that he's really lucky that they're not killing him.

Liz:

But Crowley really wants credit for the Poughkeepsky hint that it was a trap.

Liz:

But Sam didn't know about that.

Liz:

He didn't hear that on the phone.

Liz:

So Crowley tells them, Sam and Dean, that the ship that he's like, here's the deal, by the way.

Liz:

My next problem is that Gavin wants to go back to Ireland and get on this.

Liz:

Or Scotland.

Liz:

Excuse me?

Liz:

And get back.

Liz:

Get on this goddamn ship.

Liz:

But this ship is going to go down in a storm, and everybody's going to die.

Liz:

And.

Liz:

But Sam and Dean are like, no, he has to go back.

Liz:

You can't break the time travel rules.

Liz:

And Crowley fairly points out that they break all the goddamn rules all the time.

Diana:

All the.

Diana:

Also, Neil DeGrasse Tyson says that the ripple effect probably wouldn't be that bad.

Diana:

Like, even if, like, you went back and, like, killed Hitler as a baby, like, maybe that would have an effect.

Diana:

But, like, there's very rarely, like, things that you would do that would have, like, that.

Diana:

The butterfly effect that, like, movies have.

Liz:

Right?

Diana:

They're like, no.

Diana:

Like, nothing like that would really happen.

Diana:

But.

Liz:

But either way, Crawley is stupid.

Liz:

You can have a time travel rule, but y'all don't follow any rules.

Liz:

Yeah, that's.

Diana:

Y'all come back from the dead all the time.

Liz:

You have examining you're like, whatever.

Liz:

We're gonna take Gavin to our bunker and find a spell.

Liz:

And then Crowley's annoyed about this, and he's annoyed that he has feelings, and he's gonna pretend like he's gonna go say goodbye.

Diana:

Can't wait to not have feelings.

Liz:

And then he poofs him and Gavin away.

Liz:

Because of course he does.

Liz:

They couldn't trust him to do that.

Diana:

Damn it, Crowley.

Liz:

So Crowley and Gavin are gonna go stand in a field, and Crowley is gonna tell Gavin that the ship goes down and that he should stay.

Liz:

All he needs to do is avoid cheap whiskey and cheap hookers.

Liz:

And then I immediately noticed that this actor has a labre scar on his chin.

Liz:

Because I have one.

Liz:

And I'm like, oh, he has lebre pierced at some point in his life.

Liz:

And it's a really annoying scar to try to make go away.

Liz:

So, sorry, Gavin, AKA Theo, that I noticed that.

Liz:

Because I'm sure you don't want anybody to notice it ever, because I don't either.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

But also the fact.

Diana:

So Crowley is just like, we're gonna say goodbye to ever.

Diana:

You're gonna go off dressed like an extra from Outlander, and I'm not gonna give you any money or anything.

Diana:

And don't tell anybody you're a prince of Hell.

Diana:

Like, you'll be fine.

Diana:

You can read now.

Liz:

Just don't.

Liz:

Just don't get caught smoking.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

Not like, here's a credit card.

Liz:

Nothing.

Liz:

Here's a hundo, here's.

Liz:

Yeah, like anything.

Liz:

He just leaves him.

Liz:

Bye.

Liz:

Poofs out.

Diana:

You'll be fine.

Liz:

So Sam and Dean are driving.

Liz:

And Dean says that tells Sam that he did not tell him about Crowley's warning because he knew that Sam would be by his side in the room.

Liz:

And that makes Sam mad because he's like, yeah, obviously, I'd be by your side in the goddamn room.

Liz:

I'm saying that a lot on the room this if.

Liz:

Why wouldn't I be?

Liz:

And Dean's like, well, you know, when I had the Blade, I wouldn't be stopped.

Liz:

I had to take down Abaddon and more, and I had to go it alone.

Liz:

And Sam is real irritated about this because Dean's afraid that Abaddon would have nabbed Sam and used him as leverage against Dean.

Liz:

And Sam's glad it all worked out.

Liz:

The Blade gives him strength and calmness and all this.

Liz:

But that's.

Liz:

And stop protecting me, Dean.

Liz:

And the Blade's doing something to you.

Liz:

And it's weird, and I don't know what it is so we need to, like, store it and lock it up somewhere.

Diana:

And it's gross.

Diana:

I don't want to look at it.

Liz:

And Dean says no.

Diana:

Yeah, he just says no.

Diana:

And that's real creepy.

Liz:

And that's it.

Liz:

That's episode.

Diana:

That is the episode.

Diana:

All right, so you want to talk to us about the people in it and then we can talk about our feelings.

Diana:

Feelings.

Liz:

Casting couch.

Diana:

It's the casting couch.

Diana:

What they on that show?

Diana:

That time with that guy?

Liz:

La la la la la la.

Liz:

All right.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Our cast this week, Gavin McLeod is played by Theo Deveny.

Liz:

He's done a lot of voice work for video games, but otherwise was Simon in A Christmas Prince.

Liz:

The Christmas Prince, A Royal Wedding and a Christmas Prince.

Liz:

The Royal baby.

Liz:

Plus he had an appearance as Simon in The Princess Switch 3.

Liz:

Very quality entertainment.

Liz:

I say that not joking very much.

Liz:

Enjoy all of those.

Liz:

They're on Netflix and we're hitting that season.

Liz:

So there you go, Ezra.

Liz:

One of our.

Liz:

Our.

Liz:

Our chatty, awkward angel was played by Gordon Michael Wolt.

Liz:

He's been in episodes of his.

Liz:

He's been stuff going back to like the 80s and 90s.

Liz:

He was in episodes of Friday 13th, TNT, Road to Avonlea, the original Kung Fu, and he was in three episodes of I, Zombie.

Liz:

He was also David in Bride of Chucky.

Liz:

Benjamin, our man in maroon was played by Malcolm Masters.

Liz:

He was in a few episodes of Izombie, a couple episodes of Supergirl, Batwoman, the Flash, Kung Fu.

Liz:

He was a pilot in the Predator.

Liz:

And Gus in the movie Long Legs.

Liz:

It's pretty buzzy right now that I haven't because I don't watch scary movies.

Liz:

Our female angel was played by Vanessa Walsh.

Liz:

Interesting Log names legs.

Diana:

And now I just keep thinking about long, long neck.

Diana:

Who.

Diana:

Never mind.

Diana:

I'm gonna start going about long neck and wide neck, but it's.

Diana:

Go on.

Liz:

Continue with your cast list.

Liz:

Our female angel, Vanessa Walsh, interestingly left her career in commercial tuna fishing to become an actress.

Liz:

And she's been in episodes of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Van Helsing a few times, and the Flash.

Liz:

She was a CSI agent in the movie Long Legs.

Liz:

One of our Bar Angel, Bar Angel Bar Angels was played by Daniel Leto.

Liz:

He's been episodes of Series of Unfortunate Events, Lucifer in the Flash, and one of our main minions was played by Georgie Deboras.

Liz:

And he's been episodes of Zoo Magicians, iZombie, Flash, Reginald the Vampire, Nancy Drew, and was the one and only Edward Spellman in the chilling Adventures of Sabrina There we go.

Diana:

Alrighty.

Diana:

So what'd you think?

Liz:

I actually thought this was a very fun episode.

Liz:

I kind of liked the back.

Liz:

It was a lot of back and forth, but it wasn't an annoying way, in my opinion.

Liz:

I liked how that was directed and put together.

Liz:

And I feel like it was important to get back to the story.

Liz:

And I think that the showing Cass's, like, how he's running and then also showing the creepy ass way that Blade is running Dean was interesting.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

The Blade's gross.

Diana:

The Blade is gross.

Diana:

I think.

Diana:

I think we can all disagree.

Diana:

ODT is just nasty.

Diana:

You nasty.

Liz:

Not down with odt.

Diana:

You're not down with odt.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So, I mean, I agree.

Diana:

I think there is.

Diana:

You know, I.

Diana:

I like.

Diana:

I love the.

Diana:

The Crowley and Gavin relationship.

Diana:

I think that's.

Diana:

That's always fun.

Diana:

And, you know, just also Avidon and Crowley together too.

Diana:

I am very sad that her.

Diana:

Her highness has Princess of Hell.

Diana:

Would she be a highness?

Diana:

Is that what.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

Let's go ask Gavin in his.

Diana:

In his.

Diana:

In his movies.

Diana:

But so, yeah.

Diana:

And it was.

Diana:

I think it's fine.

Diana:

I've done that.

Diana:

Makes me sad.

Diana:

I got a Crowley episode.

Diana:

That makes me happy.

Liz:

Balance in the universe.

Diana:

There's some balance.

Liz:

How many episodes are left in the season, do we know?

Diana:

There's two.

Liz:

Two left.

Liz:

Okay, two left.

Liz:

So we get to 23.

Liz:

So we've got two.

Liz:

Two episodes left.

Liz:

I feel like in theory, there's a lot to wrap up if we're gonna do a wrap up.

Diana:

Well, yeah, we remember how long that recap was.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And we just killed one big bad.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

So that's kind of a big deal to still have two episodes left.

Liz:

So I'm in.

Liz:

I'm assuming.

Liz:

I'm gonna.

Liz:

I'm gonna get.

Liz:

Here's my.

Liz:

Here's what I'm gonna guess happens.

Diana:

Your prediction.

Liz:

Yeah, we'll take that.

Liz:

That we're gonna dive a little harder on the Angel War side because that's the only thing left to wrap up.

Liz:

And then Sam didn't have to decide what to do about Crowley, even though they already kind of sit there and leave him alive since he gave them a hot tip earlier.

Liz:

But.

Diana:

Okay.

Diana:

Glad you.

Diana:

That's where you think this is going.

Liz:

Yeah, we'll see.

Diana:

We'll see.

Diana:

All right.

Diana:

I'm that nerd Nerd.

Diana:

I'm that nerd, that nerd.

Diana:

Cheers, Chuck.

Liz:

Cheers.
